We did that regularly in the early stages when we first staring getting these units in the shop years ago with no change at all. We actually replaced some with aftermarket and dealer MAF and still no change. So we stopped replacing them and occasionally cleaning them when needed. But found no direct connection to the issue. But I do agree that a good running engine makes any transmission work better.
Hello, I love your informative videos! What is your experience with Precision of New Hampton single and multi disc billet converters for the 6L80? Good? Bad?
Billet okay, regular cover still has issues. Every now and then you'll come across a billet one shuddering. But that goes for every torque converter company, not just these guys. But great overall for the most part. They seem to have corrected the issue with the 8L90's. Hopefully they'll come up with some type of upgrade with the 6l80's since they still have issues shuddering right out of the box. No matter whose company you get it from one out of twenty will shudder. I've been using Mobil 1 HP LV ATF on these units and seems to work great with the clutch they've been installing on these converter.
Yes, just data log it and choose a speed for engaging the torque converter that the engine will be comfortable with. Make those changes and input your axle ratio and tire size.

Quiero ver si me puedes ayudar, se descompuso mi transmisión 09G y siguiendo tu video me animé a repararla por mi cuenta; al momento de la falla arrojó los códigos 17115/P0731 1st gear wrong ratio, slip. 17116/P0732 2nd gear wrong ratio,slip, al desarmar el K1 se encontraba todo quemado pastas y discos de metal por lo que cambié todas las pastas k1,k2,k3,b1 y b2; no pude hacer prueba con aire pues no tengo compresor; una vez instalada después de 20 mins de funcionamiento comienza a patear entre D2-D3, P-R, N-D; al escanear no tengo códigos de solenoides sin embargo me volvió a aparecer 17116/P0732 2nd gear wrong ratio, slip. Lo malo que para reparar use un kit chino y viendo tu video de solenoides donde mencionas que salen defectuosos, crees que se trate de un defecto en el pistón K1 y tenga fuga de aceite? Remplaza los solenoides o si puedes conseguir otro cuerpo de válvulas nuevo sería lo mejor. Los solenoides causan que golpe los cambios. También puede causar códigos de falla de ratio
Good evening Hiram? I saw your video. I also had work on transmission for many years. But now these days I have problems with a 6L80 year 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with a 4.3 engine, with a small torque converter. I am getting a kind of slight kick or 2-3 shifts on lockup. It's like I am getting harsh engagement on lockup I already did a reflash the TCM with GM TDS online, and it didn't seem to fix the problem on the converter clutch lockup. I am currently using an Autel Maxisys Elite scan tool. And I have a VSI 2534 flash box from this company DG Technologies. And my J2534 Devices are updated. Hiram? What kind of brand is the Tuner? Is it HP TUNERS MPVI3 ?? Or Range Technology device? I don't want to purchase the wrong Tuner. Buenas noches.
He using Hp tuner it on the right hand top corner on the screen. Mpvi 3 the newest device from hp tuner. The range only disables Active fuel management it not a real tuner. I hope this helps you out. Hp tuner takes time to learn you can mess up stuff fast if you don’t know what ur doing.
HPtuners, The MPVI3 is the newest one. Go to the HPtuners website and you can buy it from them. But the software is the same. You can download the software for free and start working with it so you can get familiar with it until you receive your unit. Concerning the issue in third gear, if you installed a Transgo shift kit and installed the Clutch select valve springs take them out and install the originals. On the torque converter I only use dealers on the small diameter ones.
They need to do away with this pwm bs, its a machine, not a magic carpet ride. TCC should be on or off,nothing else, rider comfort should not override endurance.
The EPA is so concerned with the industry that contributes 0.01 percent to global emissions that manufacturers have to reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency every year. Why do vehicles cost so much?
The government (EPA) forcing manufacturers to produce vehicles with lower emissions and better economy every year is crazy. Automobiles contribute less than 1% of global emissions. All this displacement on demand, 8, 10 speed transmission crap is just a big waste. Nothing wrong with a fuel efficient engine with a 4 speed.

And while we are at it,lets ditch the computer, kick the governmenf out of the auto industry.
Shift timing,shift feel, can all be done with fluid circuits and a tv cable. no need for solenoids either,ok ill stop now lol.
