Drag that had the old sandstone and red brick buildings downtown had been saved we could have had a real cool Old Calgary district like other cities had the good sense to preserve...
1:12 That's the clothing store a block away from Eau Claire Market wow I'm blown away. The building with the cone shaped top on the corner of the street.
Thanks for the video. Just a suggestion: Can you label some of the buildings which are still around (if any!) ? I lived in Cowtown for a few years. It would be interesting to compare their surroundings with today.
Very few of them remain The Bay Palace and palliser remain and a handful of the old sandstone schools. Calgary realized too late its history. I love some of the new creative skyscrapers but some of the 60s and 70s brutalist bricks [lookin at you One Palliser Square!] replaced some of these lovely buildings hurts.
such a dramatic change and i know people who've been here longer than I who are also stunned at the changes the saddest is losing the old sandstone buildings, some of which i never knew about I don't read replies, don't bother sending them. This is only a comment section, not a forum for snide debate. sorry to the remaining civilized people
T.Y. for the Memories ! Gone are the horses, cars. buildings and people ! It's nice to have stored some of these great old days on pictures !
Doris Christie Thanks Doris!

Excellent view of our city from the past. There are a few from the 1950s that I remember myself.
