Your first mistake was asking permission to use your grandmother's name. Grandparent's names are fair game for whoever has the first kid, but there's no saying that every kid can't have the same grandparent's name. I have about 4 cousins with our grandfather's name, they all go by their middle names, initials or nicknames. None of them even want to use the first name. It's like everyone being named John.

The irony is I never met my mum's mum but would have loved her, I hated my dad's alcoholic evil lying mum (so did he mum was the only who could deal with her). My mum passed and never met my daughter and her dad's my partner's mum is an alcoholic who wants nothing to do with her granddaughter so we are no contact with her.
