At age 74, as I lay in my hospital bed at Swedish hospital in Seattle listening to this beautiful song while fighting acute myeloid leukemia, I remember the first time I ever heard it, it was Vietnam in 1970. I have listened to this song thousands of times and I never tire of it and it always puts me at peace.

I wish you all the happiness that life can and will give you for the remainder of the years you have left on this planet whether it be 50 or 100. Take care Judy.

Zionists and new world order happen at the end of 90s. Then most of real music died, leaving real musicians reduced to a conglomerate of small few minorities isolated down the depths of obscure underground scenes which are overshadowed today by ignorant disgusting brainwashing pro Zionist media.

34 years ago, I lost a young friend who was like a younger sister to me, her name was Marian, she was only 20 years old, I cried at her funeral, and through the years I've never forgotten her or her smile or her chestnut red hair..... three months ago I was in the Emergency room, I had left for the night, I wasn't feeling well, the next morning at 5:30 AM I took a drive to check on family, immediately afterwards I became very I'll, to the point where my blood pressure had dropped and I passed bout at the wheel, my car came to rest inside a building, totally destroyed, my sternum fractured, my wrist , ribs, family was notified, but before I passed out I did see something white, and before I came too I felt her presence as if she was guarding me, . a guardian angel....I love you Marian, it wasn't my time but I know now you're waiting for me, this song reminds me so much of you....rest well little sister 💕

Musicians do it comparatively often which makes them a very important part of history in my opinion..

I'm 30 years old, didn't grow up hearing this song really, but from a newcomers perspective I really love the "crying" sound effect in the background during the main verse. It sounds so sorrowful. Just like intensely unfilled deep love. Almost living in a state of purgatory. The desire is so strong you can't do anything besides fantasize about her.

+Tampanda They have never been afraid to get behind an emotion, and they always go big. I think because they're so ingenuous that lots of us older dudes keep fondness for the music in the closet. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Cream [all of whom I love!] could blast through a song, Moody Blues / Justin H. could hold the notes, get to the emotional core of sorrow, pain, loss...and longing, fantasy. Will have to think on it more.

I'm an old fan of KC and Robt Fripp, and yes, they were just as unique but in an entirely different, advant-garde sort of way. Fripp was not trying to concoct orchestral melodies but something utterly unlike the Moody Blues, or anyone else... (imo).

I remember an April night in 2005, sitting on my parents deck in Atlanta, and listening to their concert from Chastain Ampitheater. It was as great as the original. Called my son at work so he could listen to it. He was jealous and wouldn't talk to me for a week. Actually, if he didn't have to work that night he would have been sitting on the deck enjoying the concert with me. It is maybe 3 blocks from our house and is a place I used to work at in the summers on concerts and Broadway shows. I am 69 now but the memories of working there and the memories of just listening to amazingly great concerts on our deck, cheating by watching outside the walls of the ampitheater for many concerts and to actually work there are great memories. My boyfriend during my teen years used to call me up late at night and play this to me (along with the poem at the end). Next month we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary. Maybe the song has good vibes.

So after our 12 hour work day we grabbed the keys to the ARA Locker and went down there to sing songs. This is one we did and taped them on the old cassette tape players. His name is Jim Titterington from Washington State. I don't have a clue what ever happened to him. Thinking abut the good old times....

@@RMScShumaila we go through life basically trying to do things that make us happy, the world is designed in such a way you need material things acquired through money to be happy, most functioning people need clean air, water, food, shelter, clothing, self respect, relationships, and entertainment which in most cases don't come free you will have to spend money for them, yes love also costs money, our self respect be it flawed or not goes up when you have money in your account as it allows you to send your kids to that nice school, to buy your mom a nice present, to make monthly donations to charity etc. So in our quest to attain happiness we can get so side tracked in trying to get money to feel secure in order to feel happy, to pay off that debt in order to feel secure, in order to pay that debt we will have to work like slaves and compromise on clean air, water, healthy food, self respect, meaniningful relationships etc

    Nights in white satin
    Never reaching the end
    Letters I've written
    Never meaning to send
    Beauty I'd always missed
    With these eyes before
    Just what the truth is
    I can't say any more
    'Cause I love you
    Yes I love you
    Oh how I love you
Gazing at people, some hand in hand
Just what I'm going through they can't understand
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end
    And I love you
    Yes I love you
    Oh how I love you

      [Late Lament - Graeme Edge]
      Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people Look back and lament
      Another day's useless Energy spent
      Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
But we decide which is right
      And which is an Illusion?

A commercial brought me here. I've heard this song many times before but never really paid attention to the lyrics. This is a mesmerizing song. Really like it. The musicians from the 50s, 60s and 70s were story tellers. Their songs had substance and meaning. I grew up in the 80s but I truely appreciate the music from those eras.

"When you desire only the result, you start trying to take shortcuts... and when you start taking shortcuts, you might start losing sight of the truth. Eventually, you'll lose your motivation too"
"I believe the will to seek out the truth is what's important. As long as you have the will to seek it out, then, even if the perp gets away this time, you'll reach your destination in time, won't you? That's because you're seeking it out, don't you agree?"

There are no shortcuts. it took me a year to find the truth and I almost killed myself doing it and it took me 3 years to recuperate from it. But it was the experience that made it worth while and a reason to live. People just need to get in touch with themselves because it's all laid out in bits and pieces after the system got through with you. That's what Micks song addresses about the Jigsaw Puzzle.

Everyone always claims the music they grew up on was the best. But, in this case, for sheer "head music" there was NOTHING like the 70's. Especially during the early to mid 70's. Once the Bee Gees came on the scene in the late 70's an into the 80's, that music DOMINATED the clubs and dance music. it had it's place for sure. But, for "head music" NOTHING compared to the early to mid 70's. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT..........ALL OF THAT ERA WAS SHEER MASTERPIECE.

Hello. I agree that Nights in White Satin is beautiful. I like too a lot the songs "For my lady", "Lost in A Lost World" and "Melancholy Man" from the Moody Blues.
Thanks to the Moody Blues and to TH-cam's system of suggestions, I discovered a musical movement, called "art rock" or "prog rock" that I find absolutely wonderful. Maybe you will like it. Groups like Tea & Symphonie, Emerson, Lake and Powell, King Crimson ...
My favorite group is Van Der Graaf Generator, I really exhort everybody to listen to them. Songs like "A House With No Door", "Refugees", "Childlike Faith in Childhood's End".
The singer of this band has too make wonderful solo album. I like a lot the songs "Time Heals" and "Autumn" (the two are from the album Over).
Usually, for this group, it's requisited to listen at least three times before to know if you like it or not.

There are many perfomances on youtube, in my opinion, the best version is the one called "_EpiTapH_ ♪King Crimpson" posted on the channel SunsetSanto.
