A son can only learn certain things about how to be a man from his father, how to relate to women from his mother. A daughter can only learn certain things about how to be a woman from his mother, how to relate to men from his father. The younger generations that are struggling so much in their maturation, struggling to become resilient and virtuous adults, has much to do with this fundamental failure.
