Navigating the confusing docks in Newark can be an experience in itself but as usual Fred did a great job. Who needs a GPS when you have Fred.
🤣 he only knows to route to hamburger joints!
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 ☺
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Fred certainly has the nose for it. 😁
Hi Doug love your channel. At around 2:15 today February 5 on I87 between exits 40 and 39 I saw w 0:02 on of your company trucks heading northbound it looked like a simulator it could of been you wow so star struck ❤ say safe Doug keep trucking
lol it’s a small world! We are up and down 87 all the time!
Fred is the greatest! I love the shots of him sitting with his paws on the window sill. checking out the world of Jersey.
gday doug great content as always , good to see fred back in action . keep up the great work your an ispiration cheers
Thank you 😊
FINALLY WE HAVE SUBTITLES!!!!
Now i can practice my english listening, and enjoy the best truck channel 🐕🐕
It is added work for me but I’m always trying to improve for you guys!
Fred is a worthy companion. And please Keep Em Coming!
♥️♥️♥️
Your basset hound needs his own steering wheel. Handsome boy.
Enjoyed the video! Great way to start a cold Sunday morning.
I am a new subscriber I love trucks and also fond of driving
Welcome
I'm loving how Fred has learned to sit upright in his chair 😂
Good Old Pete. Best option you can add is a sock on each of those rubber blocks on the firewall supporting the hood goodbye annoying squeaking. Thanks to KT3406E Saw the trick on his channel and applied them to my Pete. Much better. Keep em coming. Great channel.
Great to see Fred keeping an eye out for you !! 😊
Love the Fred shots, he is just enjoying the ride and the views
Good to see you back Fred. Hope you enjoyed your vacation. See you next time around.
22:44 Nice angle of view, good job!!
I think i saw you today at 83 and 581 split in Pennsylvania as I think you were going 83 North. this was like 130pm. to 145pm some where in that time. Just wanna say safe travels and good seeing you again. I was going 83 South
We always go 83 north, 581 west to 81 north to avoid the low bridges in Harrisburg
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 yeah I go that way all the time to avoid the Interstate 83 construction
Awesome video with great video- and sound editing. I really enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thank you 😊
Hi I'm absolutely loving your channel and watching havey hauling across Canada and north America your laws are different from the laws i used to run on havey and wide load work hear in what was Europe (uk) if i was 30 years younger i would be looking to moving to Canada that being said i think at my age now the cold would kill me in a month (hahaha) Fred is a fantastic Basset hound he look more human in some of the shots of him in this video with his leg resting out the window and the way he looks around he's like a old truck driver from time gone by, thank's for all the videos ive watched so far and take care out there and keep on trucking my friend.
Thanks for the comment 😊. Yes indeed our laws for transport are much different. In fact our laws change from state to state and province to province making this job unnecessarily complicated!
I hope not! Us sane Americans citizens stand with Canada!! We don’t want this just like Canada doesn’t want this to happen!!
Great video with Fred as the copilot today. Thing 47 is playing with fire and to crazy to figure out what is happening. Keep the videos coming!
Great to see the old steel "cheese shredder" bridge between Ogdensberg NY and Prescott ON, across the St Lawrence. Riding across that bridge in summer on a motorcycle is an experience you will never forget, especially if you ignore being warned not to look down to see the river far below you. I think they should hand out adult diapers for first-time motorcyclists making this crossing.
Le pont Victoria à Montréal pour une pratique!
I felt sick just watching this video on the ogdenberg bridge that's a long way down.
Hi Lucky I really like the 360 on the bridge and the French , I am French Caradian on my dads. I was show my grandson your show and his Mom came home so we said we work on our french. His Mom is very careful with screen time.
That’s great! But I’m not sure my trucker slang butchering of the French language is correct to use as a teaching aid 😅
Been watching your TH-cam channel for so many yrs couldn't wait to get to that level and start doing oversized load
It’s a long road (no pun intended) to get into heavy haul but it’s worth it!
A like, thumbs up for filming the important part of the trip.. Fred.. He will be needing a hard hat & high vis next to go meet his fans at work sites.... That tail what a thumper on the passenger seat.. The driver and truck are also good but its Fred the Star... More Fred...
It will soon be re-named the Fred show 😅
Great video, Doug. I love how Fred sits at the window. LOL. I think the tarriffs are just a way to try and force the borders to be more secure. Its not like it will last forever, unless our borders have to be one way secure. Be safe, and God Bless.
I just hate the drama. Why can’t we all just get along!
Another great video Doug it was a bit cold travelling with you keep them coming pal 🇬🇧🇨🇦
Only 2 more months until it warms up 🌞
Very nice editing on that section over the bridge and into Canada.
I had the same squeeking on my Pete car hauler. I greased all the hood mounts 3 on each side seemed to solve it.
I've had 359's, 379's, and 389's, ALL had to have hood mounts greased.
Another excellent job mate, Fred's in a league of his own with is natural navigation skills and supervisory skills. Thinking to get a pouch to travel the world with me on my sailboat, interesting challenges there but damn I miss my previous doggo.
The roads in Montreal are as bad as I remember them. Yesssir, keep on truckin' ...Very good camera positioning and angles while you drive...good ol' St Laurent river..
Like the 18 speed transmission in that beast.
Enjoy your co-pilot he’s so relaxed. I’m sure you’ll do well regardless of tariffs
Safe travels. Ron
Haven't seen an open grating bridge deck in awhile.
You can bring one to me. I love sim games and have been playing American Truck Simulator for years. Great job driving and hope to see more videos. Good luck on these tariffs. I have no idea when he's picking a trade war with you guys. Everyone else, yeah, I get that but not our neighbor's from the north.
I got ATS for this past Christmas and have enjoyed pulling long/heavy loads any time I can since like my third trip. Thanks to these videos I have a clue how to maneuver them. A few days ago I bought a 9 axle triple, the biggest trailer in the [base] game, and have been loving it.
@@nerdgarage I want to turn an actual 379 cab with sleeper into a sim. 1 for 1 scale. That's my ultimate goal.
@@nerdgarage you gotta have room for friends and travel animals. My kitten would love cross country trips.
@@papatrad3458 I've been saying from about the first week after looking at gaming wheels that I'd love to take an old truck, rip out the mechanics and replace them with electronics for a custom sim.
@@nerdgarage I bought the Saitek Heavy Equipment bundle and love it. The side deck has like 46 programmable buttons. I want to replace the wheel and pedals to a Logitech with shifter but Social Security doesn't pay much. I use to stream it on Twitch.
The tarriffs will affect you maybe not in the trucking aspect but in fuel and oil cost and your personal life... groceries, toiletries, etc...
I want to thank you for the trip in cape breton,,,,Darrell
Loving your video Doug. Loved how Fred was sat in his seat. Next thing, he'll be hooking his arm on top of the window🤣. As you take the Cat back over Canada, my brother used to tell me that when he sailed down the St Lawrence, he loved it more in winter as he just watched the ice floes with seals on them and they would also break through the ice. He used to work a lot on deck so they'd be busy when entering the country of origin. I know Trump is getting a little above his station. He's even had a go at us in the UK, to do with the North Sea oil, and he wants us not to put too many windmills around the oil rigs🙄
I always thought it would be neat to work aboard a ship and visit all the corners of the globe!
It will be interesting to see where all these threats and promises actually lead…
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 my thought as well
I know it’s an age old tradition to plug or cover the exhaust on machines in transport I drank the koolaid myself during my 35yrs career as a heavy equipment mechanic. But I’ve come to realize that nowdays with the systems on machines such as CEM ‘ s. ( clean emission modules ) there is no way in hell the turbo will freewheel During transport and damage shaft bearings due to lack of lube. Even the old stories I was told are a myth to be honest for one simple reason.
To have wear you need to have three things happening…..movement, load and friction. Remove any from the equation and there is no wear. A free wheeling turbo has motion yes and a bit of natural friction from bearing design but there’s no load……..just my theory. I’ve seen videos of cameras placed inside car tires and driven. I’d love to see a camera placed inside a turbo intake boot while at highway speed and see how fast the turbo would spin if at all. Keep up the great vids and work you do….14 wide in Newark middle of day? I would pass on that one. :)
Merci, salute!
I agree with you. There are lots of example to this on the internet. However it’s our company policy to cover ALL exhaust and it’s just easier to comply than fight the company. Choose your battles!
👍😉👌
Fred! I've missed you!!😍
I worked at CAE when i was in trade school for my co op placement....great place to work. Its cool to see my old stomping grounds to....13 to the 20 then through the whisky trench onto the Mercier bridge.....MTL looks dirtier then i remember it.
Winter makes everything kinda grey
I really do not understand what Trump is thinking. I own a manufacturing plant plant in the USA Starting pay is $25.00 per hour I currently have 20 positions open, that we are unable to fill. Finding employees is not easy .
Put some old socks on the hood blocks. Have the same problem on my 379. It's much cleaner than grease. They will wear out but I always have old socks. Quick easy loads.
That orange flag on the front driver side bumper certainly has seen better days. I suspect that with the Canadian governments tariffs on USA made goods coming to Canada, that may affect any loads you pick up at the Caterpillar plant in Illinois going to anywhere in Canada.
i still cant get over how basset hounds feet look so weird. Fred is such a good boy!
For sure. Things would not be the same for the shippers n receivers, and they will somehow try to cut cost and, of course, the rates.
Can only hope , Doug!
Hey Doug !!1 Thanks again for the ride & HOPE this tariff issue DOESN"T lead to a ""POLITICAL WAR"" with Canada & Mexico !! Did you teach ""FRED"" on how to open & close the window ?? HAHA 👍👍👍👍👍
He is self taught 😅 more importantly he learned how to lock the doors so I always need to carry a spare key 😅
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 OKS !!!! Just like the ""OL "" BoyScout Motto """ Always be prepared for the unexpected ""!!
👍👍👍 transit traffic should not be affected, otherwise it would be highway robbery !
Greetings from Germany
I wonder how is it actually with electric trucks in America? Here in Europe, more and more companies are converting their truck fleets to electric trucks, and their performance data is very impressive. Some of these trucks have over 1000 horsepower and ranges of up to 800 km, and their batteries can easily be charged during the legally required rest periods. When you consider that manufacturers here in Europe are very restricted, it's hard to imagine what could be possible in America, where these restrictions don't exist.
One thing about New Jersey. No snow.
Better not have a fear of bridges before going across that one. Looked like in terms of length it would give Mackinaw a run for it's money
interesting the difference viewing the load from the back of the cab VS where you walked down the side. a huge difference in the amount of overhand on the sides.
Can you make a video on how to get into flatbed/heavy hauling? And the pros and cons of the field?
Good idea for a future segment!
Good to see Fred back in the co-pilots seat where he belongs .....Keep the rubber side down Doug !!
I don’t miss the docks in NJ. It’s nice to be a camera passenger. Any hassle traveling across the border with Fred on board? Not sure if it was you heading north on I-81 through the Binghamton area.
Much enjoyed at the home of the old Sphinx dog.
The tariffs should be put on any company that LEAVE United states only that try to ship anything to the United states i
If Canada became the 51st State, all would be forgiven! I didn't vote for him, so don't blame me.
@ChrisL-oz4lp there are already more Canadians than Americans in Florida anyways
j'espère que tout va bien aller pour toi . au pire regarde cher bellemare , il doit sûrement engager :) Doug comme référence 😉
Je suis désolé pour toi et ton équipe. Plusieurs vont sûrement vivre des temps difficiles 😞
Only if you buy fuel, food, or ANY product of any kind...
How did Fred like his convention? Great Video!
Topography/geography interests me. With the resolution, speed, something of your videos it's impossible for me to read the road signs. But I think I could recognize you coming up through the little tangle at Binghamton, as Rt81 is the obvious route south for us here in central NY.
I have a Rottweiler/Dachshund mix. When get out of the pickup. He goes to driver side as well when I get out!😅
I love to see that doggie sit there like that and it looks so good he looks like he's going to sit there and drive
super cool stuff, a plane sim?? what a beauty
Hello Fred. How was the Party you went to? Great videos, Keep them cumming . I love the shots of Fred with his paws prop up on the window, funny I do the same thing. lol
Nice video
👍 keep on truckin
Watch yourself in Jersey nobody gives oversize loads a break.
How many hours of recording can you get on these cameras? Seems the one on the CAT went for quite a while?
About one hour using the regular camera battery but up to 3 hours using an external auxiliary battery
Can't see the volume of goods decreasing the costs i think will increase for everyone tho
fuel , food maintenance cost.
Hi Doug, it might in one regard if it affects the amount of loads moving cross-border. The actual premise of tariffs is a dis-incentive to a country to have certain behaviors by imposing a surcharge above and beyond duties (if in place). This will last 5 minutes as neither Canada nor the U.S. wants a tariff war. Your particular load is not subject to tariffs as it is "goods in transit" since it's moving from Canada to China via the U.S. Duties and tariffs are only applicable to destination countries. Drive safe, mon ami.
The Pete sure looks a lot better when it's shiny.
Agreed 😁
Oh man let me know when your in Ottawa we gotta collab my guy
Haha sorry I prefer to avoid the drama
@ oh I hear you no no just want to be able to spot you from an overpass or something 😂
I generally agree with your view and as to your situation on the tariffs. I am concerned that orders could be cancelled or delayed due to the potential financial recession from the imposition of the tariffs. I do hope our Congress can find some way to limit or suspend the tariffs. I don't know why Pres. Trump is so going after Canada as a minimal threat as to immigration and drugs.
I understand the want for more “made in America”. Personally I hate seeing all this stuff made overseas. I wish we had more “made in Canada”
Trump is doing this to Canada because Canada won't become the 51st State. Remember, Trump is an insane lame duck.
I have to say, I love your camera positioning. So many interesting perspectives. A question: how does Canada manage it's snow on the roads. There were several images where there was a lot of snow on the sides of the road but clear roads. What do you do?
SALT 🤣
Snow plows remove the snow that builds up on the road and shove it to the side. When there's too much snow on the sides, a huge snowblower (?) shoves it in trucks that will dump it in areas called snow depots. Snow depots can be places like empty fields near highway exits.
As for the ice, salt/calcium is put on the road. It melts the ice. They also put sand sometimes, to increase tire adherance.
I dont expect the tariffs to last long
Couldn’t they ship this out of the port in Montreal?
What are your meals like when you are traveling?
I bring prepared, home cooked meals to re heat. I try to stay out of restaurants. They are hard on the waist line and hard on the budget!
Thanks for another great video, Doug. Curious to know if there is any RO/RO freight that goes directly into Canada or is it all via the US? Thanks, mate. Keep on Truckin’
There is some that moves through the port in Halifax but not much unfortunately
I figured avant is French for front but google tells me it means before. Does that mean the backend says after?
Technically the front would be “devant”
Rear would be “derrière” an after would be “arrière”
It is likely that you have been asked this before, but since you frequently cross the border (either way), what "hoops" do you have to go through, on a regular basis, to (at the borders) to bring your shotgun rider (Fred) along with you?
As long as your animal is in good health and you have proof of all its vaccines there is no hassle at the border
👌👌👌👍👍
I have some family that works for CAE, traveling all around the world to set up these simulators
My brother in law used to work there also! Small world ✌️
Long Term? Not sure if I owned a manufacturing company in the USA if I would gear up knowing that in four years a new administration could completely reverse all of this. Unfortunately, the tariffs will end up hurting everyone. Good to hear that you will be less impacted. Want to make sure Fred and Rosie keep getting fed. 😀
Good point!
Illustrating one of the major flaws in the American system. It's hard to plan long term when you can't ever be sure what the policy is for longer than a few years. That said, presidents should still keep their campaign promises. And love him or hate him Trump is keeping his. I agree that tariffs by themselves are just going to hurt everyone, but if they come along with policies that incentivize domestic manufacturing and resource extraction in the US, then tariffs will help in building up capacity. And it looks like Trump definitely wants to do that. Not to mention the fact that the US is a lot of places' biggest customer. So the question is how long can their economies sustain tariffs? We're in unexplored territory here. The US hasn't had a particularly aggressive trade strategy for about as long as I've been alive. I don't think anybody is totally sure how the US adopting one will affect other countries.
I actually think the Americans will feel the impact of the tariffs sooner and harder, after all their groceries are going to jump 25% for their produce until at least the fall because of the tariffs.
There's Fred. What does he have to say about the tariffs. Not much, as long as it doesn't affect his supply of dog biscuits🐶🐶
Un truck qui transporte des moteurs a plus de chances d'être frappé par ces tarifs que quelqu'un qui fait juste passé pour être exporté ailleurs?
Pis encore!!! Des années pour une usine vs des tarifs qui vont durée combien de temps?
With the bridge being out, how does that affect traffic around the port? Is it just to continuous parking lot or have they figured it out?
With the bridge out there there’s an add extra miles to your trip
I like how your dog looks out the window that’s funny
@raymondgochenour8725 no, the bridge that collapsed was not on our regular route out of the port
I just noticed that your truck has blue strips on it! Is this another new truck for you our is this the same truck you bought 6-8 months ago?
😅 it has had the same stripes since the beginning
Is all of that squeaking from your dash being loose?
Peterbilt 389’s are notorious for squeaking hoods
Doug,
Welcome to our nightmare! How do you control your cameras? The rotating cameras are pretty cool!
New camera technology is pretty amazing. It’s all done in the editing afterwards
Omfg when you coming to Ottawa?
Nice video, did you run on the Thruway all the way to NJ?
No, we go by Binghamton and Scranton. Making this a 2 day trip
What kind of bag/s do you use to cover the exhaust pipes on machines you haul?
We have thick tissue reusable bags made just for that but honestly I don’t know which brand they are
Hopefully there isn't any tarrifs for using US ports in the future.
Tariffs are placed on pass-through freight?
0:09 I work where those blue doors are!
What's up with codes in his description box?
Codes so TH-cam doesn’t flag my copyright music
I don't care about the tariffs one way or the other as long as there is no impact on Fred or Rose
