I really hope that they give regular play line dolls and Fashionista dolls better clothes one day. The rewind dolls are always stunning and they should keep it up with their other lines as well

@@crazyspice3951 Bought one of these dolls, glad I didn't pay full price. The dolls have nice arm joints. The legs are crap, the knee doesn't bend well and the ankle is not stiff. Someone said the Barbie doll is similar to 80s doll. Most of the Barbie dolls didn't have moving joints, even the Holiday Barbie doll, so I don't agree. I do like the head, so I body swapped it with a Made-to-move.
I love the black one. She reminds me of Lisa Turtle. I remember watching saved by the bell on syndication in the morning getting ready for school back in like 2014 and was literally awestruck by her beauty. I felt the same way looking at this doll. I'm definitely getting her.

Also as someone who has a bunch of vintage Barbie’s I can tell you the brush bristles are different ,the og brushes had more bristles and they were closer together however they tend to knot the hair so that’s probably why they changed them
Tfw this used to be the standard for playline Barbie, now Mattel can only do details like this at a 'premium price' :p
The Schooling Barbie makes me think of a Midge doll I had as a kid but I do wish her earrings were blue like in the artwork-it just would look better with her hair instead of the purple-pink earrings they gave her. I am 95% certain there were more bristles with the OG brushes. I’m so glad the hat does fit into the hatbox that shopping Barbie comes with! I’m okay that it’s plastic because sometimes fabric hats don’t actually work very well on dolls 🙂 Shopping sophisticated Barbie is gorgeous!! 😍
Oh yeah and I’m okay with the fashionistas because of their prices (and the diversity is great) so I have a few. But I much prefer these Rewind Barbies over the Barbie Extra ones!

I ordered the Schoolin’ Around one. She is adorable. I wished Sophisticated Style had the 80’s Christie face instead of a 90’s Shani face, so I passed on her.

Love your reviews! Very helpful. Just one critique : The neon lights reflecting on the dolls don’t give an accurate color reading of the doll on camera. The colors look more saturated and pink tinged.
Would love to see the real colors of the doll’s hair, clothes etc.

Omg the sophisticated style doll is sooooo pretty! It deffo captures the stylish style of the 80s.
That brush is like the retro brush that would come with Barbie dolls in the 80s. I think the old brushes had more plastic bristles to it.
OMG! She is so cutee! I'm a big fan of Black Label line, I really love this rewind wave! I hope I can buy the pretty school girl :3 because is a little expensive u.u

The pattern on the Sophisticated Style Barbie remind me of a vintage 90s pattern on a dress they made in that time. I don't know if its the same or just a inspiration, but this is not the first time I see it on a Barbie doll. I prefer the Schoolin' Around tho. I like the Steffie face a lot but i find that she is really similar to the Night Out doll that came out a while back. If I find them in discount, I will take the Schoolin' Around girl for sure.

I have these dolls too and the brushes are not useless, they go well with crimped and curly hair. Btw when I got the first three ones I was quite pleased with the quality even if dolls doesn't have the twist and turn waist as I expected, but today I got the redhead girl "schooling around" and I was a bit, o quite, disapointed with the quality that to me seems lowered. I unboxed her with my lil niece so to show her this barbie and enjoy together the moment with this beauty, but glasses got immediately broken and one arm had the elbow joint like protruding or defective and it was so ugly looking! Lukily I've been able to fix it just pushing it back inside the joint but still not moving perfectely and the joints on both elbows aren't really the best. I noticed that while moving her arms, thinking at some cardboard or plastic protection I removed her jacket and found out this! The plastic looks thinner then in the previous wave and those bendable arms looks skeletal with bigger hands. They looks good only when fully covered by clothings. Such a pity cuz these barbies have a pretty design. Now I'm wating for the black one "sopgiaticated style" to come and I will see if it was just that one defective or it's the whole line in wave 2. Btw I miss so much the good quslity of barbies back in the 80's and 90's with twist and turn waist and L shaped arms and thax for the review.
Great review, I think you always do a great review. I'm not a big fan of the 1980 dolls. But this is a great concept by Mattel. Mattel always seems to over-charge and yet fall so short on quality. I don't buy the Fashionista's except for an occasional one. The thing with buying a play line fashionista for me, is then I have to buy an articulated body. I do like the new Looks Barbie line. My only problem is that they never make enough. So they sell out too fast. I wanted to buy the redhead but she was sold out before I could buy her. I may buy the other ones. Buy-in a Looks Barbie is less expensive than buying a play line Barbie & then buying a body to make it articulated. I'm very happy that the playline has the MTM dolls for kids. I would buy those for children rather than a play line. I would love it if Mattel would drop their price on MTM by $2. I think they would make more money because they would sell out much faster. I don't think these dolls are even articulated. I"m sure that they may have the snap & bend leg. I think $40 is a bit much for them personally. Yet, I. just ordered the AA Francie Reproduction & can't wait to get her. To me she is definitely worth the money. I love the Stefoie mold but out of these two, I think I prefer the AA one. Again, this is a great review.

I would buy them if they would come with Made to Move bodies (the regular not the collector MtM bodies) . I think the last time I have bought a Barbie with snap legs must have been over 10 years ago .
I think that the Rewind doll would cost less if they would not come with the retro snap legs .
The heads , fashion , accessories and the packages are great , but it would cost me too much to rebody them .

I love the diversity in the fashionistas line, but sadly the quality is just...not there. I hope mattel listens to the feedback they get on these dolls. I have the first three and I hope to get these 2 also!

I just bought those two online, $69.99 in Australian money.
The knee bending is not like the best, unfortunately. The mechanism on my 2 dolls is weak, one leg on one doll gave up after a few bends, it only bends forward now... The other doll I have (night out) never had clickable knees from the getgo.
Honestly, Mattel should feel ashamed. The quality that RH is pumping out and they do a doll at $40, and it’s no where near the same quality? What are they doing? Mattel can step it up.
i also sense a missed opportunity. i feel like Mattel could have pumped out a "Kira" doll for the second wave. Maybe renew the 1982 Spain Barbie mould. That would have been interesting from a collector's standpoint.

The hair on the Schoolin Around doll is pretty. For a Barbie, she looks pretty cool. I just wish that Barbies with quality clothing were more affordable though. And Barbie quality looks okay on its own, but if you compare it to Rainbow High or LOL OMG it feels underwhelming to me. I feel people would buy Barbies more if their quality was at least comparable to those lines.
In Indonesia MGA's prices are overwhelming, the Rewind dolls retail at 850K rupiah but regularly goes on sale(from 20-70%) while RH/JH/LOL OMG retail at 1-1.2 MIL rupiah & goes on sale once in a blue moon(even then at only 20%). 🙃
They are the original brushes that 80’s Barbie used to come with. Back then she didn’t have product in the hair so the brushes worked well.
OG brushes have WAY more bristles, prob double or so lol.
I have the first 3, I didn’t think the would keep going with it or at least with more 80s ones. I would like a 90s version.

I love these two! But I have my issues. For one it's a little sad there's only two dolls. Several recycled pieces on the redhead. These two feels somewhat lacking compared to the first wave. Also they used the Asha sculpt that's been used plenty times lately and is a 90s sculpt when they could have used the Christie sculpt. I'm gonna wait for these on clearance sadly, as much as I love them.

honest before 2020 I collect Barbies and Princess Disney store I sold them all in the Yard sale because I'm not happy and I'm ashamed for the dolls it's for Girls right now I collect Max Steel and G.I Joe and solider of the world and power team and my favorite action figure is Marvel's famous cover

Sophisticated Style is giving me Lisa Turtle from Saved by the Bell vibes. But Schoolin' Around is the one I like best, maybe next year she'll be available & on sale. 🤞🏻
These are $70 on Amazon in Canada, and the 1st series only ever went down to around $45. I am going to order directly from Mattel, but haven’t decided if I will just get Schoolin’ Around. As others have said, I would have liked Sophisticated Style better with the Christie mold, and the dress print is also not really resonating with me. As someone who grew up in the 80s, though, this series is a big hit with me, especially since I have none of my childhood dolls.
Retail price? Could be an important topic while making the video.
Well these tend to go on sale very often. I usually keep pricing out of my videos because people who buy them live all over the world and also pay drastically different prices for dolls.I’m sure google can help you with pricing for your region though. They’re on Mattel creations website 🙃😉

I don't understand why even Mattel's special lines look sooooo cheap. They're adorable, but their outfits and accessories are very very cheap.
I personally think that Schoolin’ Around is legit. But don’t like the printing on the other one.

@@rexbesong2157 They have plastic bags! Not even made from fabric! Bodies with low articulation. Jewelry is one colored! The 1st wave dolls have at least better detailed outfits. There're also problems with printing. And they sell them for 40$!

@@vzzniko id still disagree plastic bags are nothing new for dolls and freaquently used even for collector dolls by various brands . The articulation is the same as the fashionistas from over 10 years ago and from my experience pretty posible. The jewelery being one tone is most likley to be acurate to 80s barbies because things like shoes and necklaces were only one tone and also to flow well with the outfits. Then the outfits have diffrent textures and fabrics , actual details like snaps and pleather so would say they are just as detailed as series 1 and for what you are getting 40$ is not a bad price for me when it comes to modern collector dolls
When I saw intro and packaging and concept I was so excited. But...as you pulled out the inner box and showed Barbie and items inside the disappointment was major. This doesn't come near to Barbie late 80's glory. Stiff body is just cherry on top of overall cheap and imperfect overall impression. Late 80's/early 90's Barbie remain a unmatched masterpieces. Sorry Mattel, try again.
I agree. I have one fashionista (birthday Barbie). Her hair falls off, her legs are pure hard plastic and her head is 2 times bigger than her body
Not to mention that many newer dolls don't have good clothes and the accessory is not in larger amount like in the past, and also the quality is bad

i feel like the staff at Mattel are a bunch of 20-somethings who only knows the bare minimum about the 80s or fashion.
It's like they binge-watched "VH1's i Love the 80s" and figured that they learned all that they ever needed to know.
i will admit that some of the accessories are very cute.

I really love the Sophisticated Style Barbie outfit the most and also wished her hat 👒 was made of fabric and her dress 👗 was not screen-printed. The Sophisticated Style doll is still so pretty and I like her the most. The $40 price point is a bit high I think for the Barbie rewind dolls. Schoolin around is cute. I’m not fond of plastic clothing on dolls that are priced this high. I would prefer more fabric items. The Barbie Rewind dolls cost more than the Rainbow/Shadow High Dolls 😱. I think I will wait for them to go on sale. 🧾 You are not stupid for not knowing what the hat box was for. We all learn something new every day! I appreciate your doll review videos. Nice job!
