Years back they tried this fluid injection for a short time on aircore telephone cable, but it didn't work very well. It was expensive and if there were any buried splices in the section they had to be exposed and opened up. Not only that, but if there were already pairs going bad from water inside the cable, the injection tended to cause opens in pairs. I understand the principle with telephone cable, converting the airspace in the core between the twisted pairs into a totally filled cable using this silicone grease injection filling. What I don't understand is, what is the air space you are injecting the fluid into in a primary power cable? Where is the fluid able to travel? Just between the outer jacket and around the concentric neutral wires?
