Brian May posted this PTX cover of Bohemian Rhapsody to the Queen website with a one-word comment: “Enjoy”. Now…Amazing Grace, Mad World, Say Something, and Can’t Hold Us would be great next steps. Just close your eyes and throw a dart.
@@RambossTheTerrible The complete Brian May quote when he shared the performance on Twitter was: (caps his) "GREAT VERSION. Enjoy." Can't get better praise than that. By the way, love visual technique you are geeting past the copyright police. Much better than blurring out the video. And it's okay to love Mitch best -- the group has said themselves that Mitch has the best voice. It's his control over it that is really special. To hear that control listen to their version of Kiiara's Gold.
The Five Faces of New Pentaholics 1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah 2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, and Mad World. 3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions. 4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine and most especially Thank You. 5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.
There are over a hundred Pentatonix videos on TH-cam. Here are a few fun ones: Cheerleader, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Sing, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, Jolene, 90s Dance Medley, You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch, Come Along, Making Christmas, etc.
I’d recommend their “Evolution of Michael Jackson” video. All recorded in one take, just them and a microphone. All of their evolution videos are great but if you didn’t hear a lot of different music genres growing up, you’re still bound to know the MJ ones. Or a lot of them anyway.
I enjoyed your reaction. I have been a Pentaholic for many years. They're from my home town. Kirstie & Mitch & Scott attended CATS Performing Arts School in Arlington,Texas. They met in choir. Pentatonix was formed with Avi & Kevin for the "Sing Off" A Capella Competition which they Won. Then Avi left the group & Kevin became the bass. A few of my favorite songs that you may enjoy reacting to are, Amazing Grace, Mary Did You Know, Imagine , Aha, (Prepare to be "Mitch Sapped" in this one) & Sound of Silence . I will subscribe and look forward to your next Pentatonix reaction. Thank you!
First of all, your sister cracked me up! Great reaction and hope you have a successful run and hope you can experience a Pentatonix concert because they put on one hell of a show!
I know others have recommended the Evolution of Michael Jackson, but I'd say do the Popspring 2016 performance instead. It's live and includes 3 original songs and the MJ Evolution. The video is about 20 minutes long, but well worth it in time spent. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/7GMHqYxpnzk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=nicole
They filmed it outside, I believe all in one night. You can see towards the end of the song the street lines begin to show. There's still 5, after Avi left they went through an agency to find a replacement. Matt( new bass) got the part and he's been wonderful.
Right there with you with the Mitch love! It's nice to have a reactor focus a bit on him in his own lead. You'd be surprised how many people do this one and only comment on his "guitar solo" and talk about Avi and Kevin the rest of the time. They deserve the praise, but so does Mitch. Avi, this bass, did leave the group in 2017 but Matt joined later that year. There were only two videos made in the interim, without a bass - Dancing on My Own and Away In A Manger.
Hey folks, I am trying a larger music screen and a different music/voice audio balance. Let me know what you think. Oh, also, sorry about the need for a filter. I had to upload 4 different versions to find one that finally worked. TH-cam has strict, and oddly randomly enforced, copyright rules.
@@RambossTheTerrible Filter-schmilter, we're all pretty use to the different ways reactors have to use to bring us these videos now days, so please don't worry about it, we cool! Again, love your reaction!
I love the filter tbh. Us Pentaholics have seen the original 10s, if not 100s of times… and anyone else can always go and see the original. I’m sure you link it in the description. Also never worry about pausing to add your 2 cents, that’s why we’re watching you/ reactions rather than the original (again). 😂
You’re not terrible your face is too friendly. Your sister sounds funny, she’ll eventually get to see them. I’m a pentaholic I just enjoyed that. Keep your channel going your keeping lots of people happy. Good 👍 luck from Ireland 🇮🇪
You can't go wrong with anything Pentatonix does. Just sit back and enjoy. I love the ones where we get to hear Kevin sing. He has an amazing voice too. The ones that come immediately to mind are Amazing Gace and Mary, Did You Know.
I love your reaction of PTX. Mitch has probably the best voice in the world to me anyways. Keep going with your reactions of PTX. You would love " Can You Feel The Love" it's my favorite song of there's and Mary Did You Know!
PTX are simply astounding. The only person change Avi. 2011-2017. Bass. He had to leave due to his mother was ill Replace by Matt. 2017-now Kirsten and Mitch look different in every video but it always them
Enjoyed your reaction. They have covered Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence and John Lennon’s Imagine as well as Elton John’s The Lion King, Can You Feel the Love Tonight but I’ll watch any PTX you will react to❣️. Avi, the bass left in 2017 and Matt joined them not long after and that has been the only change. Kirstin and Mitch change hair styles and colors A LOT and are the Chameleons of the group but they are still there. One listen of the voices confirms that. Mitch is my favorite too! Can’t wait until you start listening to their Christmas music❣️
Hey, Ramboss! The shot of the starry sky during Mitch's last "guitar" solo is a nod to Queen guitarist, Brian May, who went on after Queen to earn a PhD in astrophysics. Those rockers weren't dummies! Really enjoy your reactions and have already scribed! Keep going in spite of your sister's questionable loyalty!
If you like Mitch, he is outstanding and the lead in the cover of Gold! It is magnificent and you can see exactly what each person does. Thanks for doing PTX. This is my favorite music. I’m subscribed!
Great reaction! Love your relationship with your sister. She is great. For the record I've witnessed loads of reactions where Avi and Kevin are not mentioned, only the trio. Most solos are done by Scott and Mitch, recently some Kirstin which is great. They do try to give every member a chance to shine. I love that. The PTX members all say Mitch has the very best voice, and I couldn't agree more. They are all so extremely talented. Matt the newest addition(bass) has a super voice and style as well. Looking forward to your next reaction.
I'd assume you're one of us.. or nearby! This was another great reaction, please do Imagine and Mad World.. and I second the recommendation for "Your Power" from Mitch, it's hauntingly beautiful
Your reactions are my favourite "Pentatonix reactions" here on TH-cam. It is so nice/fun to watch how much your are enjoying each song of them. I am hoping you and your sister are going to be able to see Pentatonix live on their upcoming tour :) ! All the best and lots of Love from Germany !
That filter is wicked cool! I've literally seen this video at least 100 times and I saw a number of things I never noticed before watching this filtered version.
Well, well, well. You've entered the Wonderland of Acapella. I hope you're prepared for the ride ahead, because you're gonna be getting a LOT of pressure to check out the other two groups of what I personally call The Triumvirate of Acapella (Pentatonix, Home Free, VoicePlay) - all three of which are incredibly phenomenal in their own rights, with amazing skills and performances. Not only that, but quite a few of the members of each of the groups have posted some mind numbingly good solo performances (eg. the bass singers from each group) in their own right, along with collaborations with quite a few original performers of songs they cover. Prepare yourself for the waves of fans (Pentaholics and Home Fries for instance) who will wash over you with suggestions. Again, enjoy the ride.
I'm low-key in love with your sister, lol. That would have been my reaction as well!! That aside, I'm really enjoying your reactions and you seem like a really cool guy. I kinda want to give you a hug for some reason, that's the vibe. Anyhow, keep up the fun videos, and I'm sure(like sis said)you'll be alright! 💖🥰🌹
Just wait till you come across one of their songs and they are playing the harmonica without the harmonica. These people are just very beautiful souls. Also they they do Superfruits. After watching superfruits watch the bloopers on it. There is nothing these guys and girl can't do.
Loving ur reactions! Love ur brother / sister ribbing. Yes, Mitch is beyond amazing and his personality & charisma are so delightful and he shines here but, I have to say, Kevin & Avi are what makes this performance out of this world imho. I know ur just hearing it for the 1st time but when u listen again, try to listen to what is happening around Mitch, it’s mind blowing. Props to Scott & Kristin as well. I know it’s all of them together that make the magic but man, Kevin & Avi in this one = 🤯🤯🤯
Will definitely listen again. You said it though, my first time hearing it my ears focused in on what I like the most. I want to focus on what the other singers are doing so I can appreciate this even more.
@@RambossTheTerrible absolutely. I’m sure I was focused on Mitch the first few times m, how could u not be, he’s incredible but now that I’ve heard it 100+ times, my ears gravitate to the underlying support structure of the song, they’re all just amazing. Aren’t we lucky they found each other and we get to experience the synergy and PTX magic??? ☀️☀️☀️
You are heading down one deep rabbit hole my friend. X-mas is coming, 'Little Drummer Boy' and 'Mary Did You Know' is a MUST watch! Their cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine' will show you just how diverse PTX is... 'Amazing Grace' and they're cover of 'Sounds of Silence' from there, let the games begin, the rabbit hole has no bottom.
My must-listens: Kiiara's Gold cover (superb musicality, Mitch lead), Can't Hold Us (yes, they can rap!!!), Havana (the video is GORGEOUS), Coffee in Bed (PTX original!), and Little Drummer Boy (a song you're probably familiar with, done fabulously well!)
I absolutely love their version of "Amazing Grace (My c Chains Are Gone)". Of course Avi has already left the group by now and Matt took over the bass. Matt has a beautiful voice, another great one is "The Sound of Silence" that has been recommended. Another great group is Home Free. Avi actually did a video with them called "Ring of Fire" and makes a cameo in there video of "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget", most people miss him in the background on the bull at the end of the video. Home Free won the sing off the year after Pentatonix won it.🏆
The filter helps and looks kind of cool. The larger screen isn't necessary. since most folk looking at reactions have seen the original multiple times. There's a behind the scenes video of this one where you can see how the moving couch, etc. works. For me, the most talented of this incredibly talented group is Kevin Olusola, the beatboxer. He's got some solo videos where he's a one man band! Cello, singing, beatboxing, keyboard, all looped together to make a fully harmonic song. You should check him out.
I 100% am going to check his stuff out. I am a big fan of beatboxers. I actually am subscribed to quite a few of them on my personal channel. I would say Kevin is my second favorite of the band.
Yes! Their video of the making of Bohemian Rhapsody shows how difficult it was to work on a bitter cold night on a moving couch that tipped over easily. I'm sure your sister told you that your Mitch reaction is what we Pentaholics refer to as "being Mitch slapped". Kevin Olusola, the beatboxer is my favorite too and he has his own site on You Tube-- "KO". I would love to see you go to his "KO" site and react to his cover of "Down" followed by "Sign Of The Times" for starters.
@@RambossTheTerrible Great reaction! Kevin Olusola, the beat boxer, is so talented and his own "KO" site lets you see more of what he can do. He speaks 5 languages including fluent Mandarin Chinese and is a graduate of Yale pre-med (his parents and family are from Nigeria and several are doctors). Kevin has played Carnegie Hall twice as a teenager, once for cello and once for saxophone and you can find the old videos of his Carnegie Hall performances on You Tube. As you may already know, they found Kevin on line when they were looking for a beatboxer to qualify for "The Sing Off" competition so they google "beatboxer" and saw how talented he was. Some of the Pentatonix covers that include Kevin's singing (he has a beautiful voice!) beatboxing and/or cello playing are "Imagine", "Say Something", "Mary Did You Know", "Radioactive", and "Amazing Grace".
Since you like Acapella groups, you should give Home Free a shot-check out their version of Man of Constant Sorrow and When a Man Loves a Woman-you won't be sorry! You'll become a "Home Fry"-LOL
It's always five group members. Avi (the bearded bass) was replaced by Matt when he left. Evolution of Michael Jackson and Evolution of Music are favorites of mine because they're simple, recorded in one take and just plain fun to listen to. I also LOVE Kiiara's Gold cover! Again, one take and just sitting in front of mikes. Loved your reaction and looking forward to more!
Since you admit that Mitch is your favorite, I recommend GOLD or AHA. You’ll start seeing recommendations for AHA live at the star vista in Singapore. Without giving anything away, you really should see that but I recommend at least watching the actual PTX video before watching the live one 👍
So far you've listened to the very tame and subdued Mitch. If you want to see what happens when Mitch is let loose, here it is: th-cam.com/video/aT2Nm4fYmI4/w-d-xo.html
Yes Avi the Bass left in 2017 on good terms. Then Matt came on as their Bass and he is awesome. I saw them live in 2018 in Ridgefield Washington, hands down the best concert I had ever seen. And they did Bohemian Rhapsody it was incredible. They have some newer covers that they did during lock down from their separate homes. The Weekends "Blinding Lights" and Billie Eilishes, "When the Parties Over". They have a 10 year vast catalog. Amazing Grace is awesome, Can you feel the love tonight from the Lion King, "Mad World" cover from Tears for Fears. But if you really want to be Mitch slapped the live video "AHA" Singapore the Star Vista is a must. I think Avi the Bass broke the sound system and Mitch broke the sound barrier, it was amazing.
Loving the channel! Time to call the Home Fries and check out Home Free. I suggest Man of Constant Sorrow. Although Ring of Fire with Avi from PTX is awesome too. Adam Rupp is a freak of nature as the beatboxer. They also have at least one Queen song.
“Five of the most talented in all of music”…with you 100%. And there are thousands of people around the world who share your love of Mitch’s voice. It’s mesmerizingly beautiful every single time. Great reaction!! And if you’re familiar with “The Wizard of Oz” then you should do their video “The Wizard of Ahhs” where they put their own spin on the music of the movie. It’s amazing.
Between Mitch and Dimash you definitely like a higher tone, as a confirmed Pentaholic and Dimash Dear, I am loving your channel. Can I suggest Sing, an original song of theirs, very upbeat and so much fun, a lot of fans, including several famous ones, are in the video. It was so well done.
Love your reaction. Suggestions: Love Again (one of their originals), Mad World, Come Along (has a lot of Alice in Wonderland words in it, but great fun), No, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Amazing Grace, 90s Dance Medley, Making Christmas, Problem, Imagine. That's just a minor scratch on their catalog. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole! We are the Pentaholics, we crazy people who SO greatly appreciate the Pentatonix.
This is one of my favorite songs and wow I’m impressed, these guys are awesome. Ramboss you’re awesome as well, good job on the great videos and your recent growth and success.
Their live stuff is a very good way to see the amazing things they do. "Show you how to Love" Live On Sunset is a great one to experience. After that, check out their studio version.
@@gingerjohnson1095 Ginger, “Show you how to love” Live on Sunset is what I’m talking about. You haven’t heard this one? Here it is: th-cam.com/video/PdG6zlD-aB4/w-d-xo.html The studio version is on the PTX volume 1 EP from 2012. “Starships”, “Somebody that I used to know”, “Aha”,”Love you a long time”, “We are young” are also on this EP.
I suppose as a PTX "beginner" you start with the big ones, but they have tons of other masterpieces, including original songs. You should try Havana, Cheerleader, Mad world, the 90"s Dance medley, When the party"s over (covers) and A little space, Run to you, Love again, Coffee in bed (originals). Really difficult to make a list, everything they do is great really.
There are still 5 members. Avi left and helped hand pick his replacement Matt. Avi has his own music which is equally incredible! Kevin also has his own channel that you MUST check out!! He is a very talented cello player… her name is Beyoncé. He also plays Sax, keyboard, sings tenor and has an amazing falsetto!! Check out his cover of Down!!
There is a term "Mitch slapped" which describes the effect that Mitch appears to have on new listeners every time he opens his mouth. And in this song, his range being so close to the phenomenal Freddie Mercury, it was only fitting he carries it. On top of that, he makes a mean lead guitar.
My very favorite Pentatonix song is actually one of their very early ones from the competition that launched their careers: Florence & the Machine. I would love to see you react to it.
It's okay, homie, he's most of our favorite. He's AMAZING, and has the throat of an angel. He has a side project with Scott (the blonde) if you want to hear some stuff that's a little different (Superfruit). He also has his own channel, though he doesn't upload much there. His cover of a Billie Eilish song recently was beautiful though! Kevin is also super talented, and has some really cool stuff on his own channel (KO). Avi, our beloved bass dude, is no longer with the band, but I bet you'd like his solo stuff too (Avi Kaplan). Also, it's like the law that you have to cover Scott's cover of "I Should Tell Ya Momma On You." Because it's so random and delightful. :) EDIT: Also, since you love Mitch's voice so much, you should check out their Billie Eilish cover of "When The Party's Over." His voice is so heartbreakingly lovely in it.
Great reaction! I suggest one of their early ones Can't Hold Us and then a newer one The Sound of Silence. After some of the great covers you'll want to dig in their awesome originals.
I highly recommend Mitch singing "Your Power" (Billie Eilish cover) with his angelic voice. He made himself music to this. Played piano, added strings and mixed.
Awesome reaction. There are still 5 of them. Avi (the bearded bass guy) left the group for personal reasons, and was replaced by Matt. Also, if you ever question “is that Mitch?” “Is that Kirsten?”, the answer is YES. They have different looks almost every video. They do “Evolutions of…” videos, where they are singing live and the video is done in one take. I suggest you check those out, because it really shows exactly how talented they are, outside of a studio. “Evolution of Michael Jackson” “Evolution of Rihanna” “Evolution of Beyoncé” Just to name a few.
Also, their covers of No and Gold (by Kiiara) - if you do have a look at Gold, please check out the original first (even just a little bit) to see how great PTX and especially Mitch was in doing what the original artist couldn't.
If I'm looking at it correctly, you have just started on the trip and have so far done perhaps the most popular, and all of them are with the original bass, Avi Kaplan. For a change, maybe something more recent with the new bass, Matt Sallee, which will also show how the group as a whole has grown. They did a wonderful version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the Lion King, and the best version of "Amazing Grace" I have ever heard. It would be interesting to know what your sister's recommendations would be. I love your videos so far, and that you have also reacted to PMJ.
Thanks for the reaction. Have you reacted to their cover of Imagine or their Evolution of Michael Jackson is amazing. Of their original music some of my favorites are “Sing”. “Can’t Sleep Love” and “A Little Space” Honestly everything they do is good. I’m with your Sister. There isn’t much that I put before a PTX concert especially if I could get VIP tickets to meet them.
i love this version, it is so close to the original. thank you for your wonderful reaction, also kudos on the A-Ha like pencil art,. great way to get around the copywright blockage.
I loved this from the moment I heard the first chord. It really is a masterpiece. Next time you listen to it really focus in on Kevin because what he’s doing on percussion is unreal-one guy is making all those drums, cymbals, snares at the same time by himself. Avi hits some bass drum at times, but Kevin is doing 90% of it. It’s bonkers. Enjoying your reactions! Just subscribed!
I love seeing new people discover PTX. Mitch's voice is amazing - even PTX admits that he's a standout. Watch any interview where the interviewer asks who the best singer is; everyone except Mitch points at Mitch. Then Mitch blushes and says he disagrees. But his technical control is fabulous. For more showcasing of Mitch's voice, check out: Aha! (the official video first, then Live at the Star Vista which is a fancam and yes, Kevin is there) Gold (Kiiara cover) Your Power (solo release by Mitch) The PopSpring 2016 performance of Can't Sleep Love (original, live performance) Love Again (original) Basically anything from Superfruit (spinoff channel/group with just Mitch & Scott) For what they can do when they include instruments: Radioactive with Lindsey Stirling Shallow Say Something Dancing on My Own (after Avi left, before Matt arrived) Thank You (original) For sheer, unadulterated beauty: Amazing Grace Run to You (original) Mary Did You Know Light in the Hallway (no official video that I've found) PopSpring 2016 performance of Water (original, written & led by Kirstie) I mean, you really can't go wrong with anything they do. These are just some of the highlights I can think of off the top of my head, and some of my favorites aren't even in this list. But I don't want to overwhelm you so early in the game. :)
The filter was kinda cool! They worked on perfecting this arrangement for five full years before recording it out of respect for the Queen original. The couch represents all the early videos they did singing live cover songs while sitting on a couch in one of their apartments. The moving couch represents how far they've come since then. I don't know if you're aware of their story, but Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi & Kirstin "Kirstie" Maldonado grew up together performing in local youth musical theater in Arlington, Texas. They all ended up at the same high school where they performed in the choir and formed the original version of the group known as The Trio. Scott & Kirstie graduated in 2010 and went off to college (Mitch was a class year behind and was still in high school). Kirstie went to Oklahoma and Scott went to USC. Scott joined the SoCal VoCals, a famous college a cappella group, where he met USC alum Ben Bram, who was working as a vocal coach and arranger for the NBC-TV a cappella competition show The Sing Off. Ben suggested Scott sign up The Trio for an audition in 2011, but they needed two more members. Ben introduced him to bass singer Avi Kaplan, a recent college grad who was already gaining a reputation in his native California as a great bass singer. Ben & Scott then found Kevin "KO" Olusola, from Kentucky, thru one of his TH-cam videos that had gone viral of him "cello-boxing", his own invention of playing cello and beatboxing at the same time. Kevin had recently graduated pre-med from Yale and was planning the attend the Berklee School of Music in Boston to pursue a Master's Degree in music (he had been a child prodigy on cello, saxophone and piano who had played Carnegie Hall twice as a teenager, once on cello and once on sax), then later go on to med school. He decided to put his education on hold (as did Scott & Kirstie) to join the group. The five came together in Los Angeles (Kevin arrived literally the day before the audition & Mitch had to skip his high school graduation ceremony). Scott renamed them Pentatonix, after the Pentatonic scale in music, and they passed the audition. They went on to win The Sing Off championship. One of the prizes was a recording contract with Sony-owned Epic Records. All five moved to LA to begin their recording career, only to have Sony/Epic drop them just a few days later because the label didn't feel a cappella music would be marketable to a mass audience. Instead of giving up, the group began producing their own recordings and releasing them on TH-cam, with Ben Bram helping them out on the arrangements. They amassed a huge following and about eight months later, Sony relented and re-signed them, albeit to a much lesser contract on their smaller Madison Gate label, and the group hired Ben as their primary producer. After releasing three EPs on Madison Gate, their Daft Punk Medley went super-viral worldwide and led to their first Grammy Award. Sony then promoted the group to their top label RCA, where they've been ever since. Two more Grammy Awards, two Billboard #1 albums, multi-platinum sales for their other albums, and sold-out world tours have all followed. Dealing with a number of personal issues, Avi left the group in 2017, but was replaced shortly thereafter by current bass singer Matt Sallee. Matt came from the same musical theater background as The Trio and has fit in quite nicely.
New from ireland can you react to pentatonix new rules. Cheer leader. The sound of silence. Love again. The feeling cant hold us they rap in this vudeo. Sing. Mary did you know. Daft punk. Rather be
Love all of your ptx reactions so far!If you want to hear more from Mitch, react to Aha, live in Singapore at the Star vista, Problem, Gold. You haven’t even touched the side project Mitch and Scott have. It is Superfruit. Lots of singing and just a lot of fun. Keep the ptx coming. I am subscribed and can’t wait for you to get into their Christmas music. 🤗
@@RambossTheTerrible Like tons of other Pentaholics, a fast way to get me to subscribe is to react to Pentatonix. We love seeing others discover them. You should try Amazing Grace (have tissues near if you’re religious), Imagine, tissues, Sing, Royals. For Christmas, Mary Did You Know, Little Drummer Boy and they won a Grammy for Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies-yes a Grammy for an a cappella group doing an instrumental.
Also, check out the live video of Hallelujah from their Christmas Special. It will remove any doubt you may have about if there are any sound effects or mixing that some people think they must do. They don’t.
I would recommend you check out what my favorite, Avi Kaplan, has been doing since leaving PTX in September 2017, writing and performing awesome music. Most reactors start with his most successful original song so far, "Change on the Rise", a powerful song in which he does all of the layered vocals and most of the sounds (other than a bit of synth organ and tambourine in the bridge). The song has been used in TV shows (such as "Resident Alien", and in an Apple podcast, but, as many have said, it would be great in "LOTR" or "Vikings". His catalog spans a range of styles and genres, but is often called Americana/Folk - a 180 from what he did with PTX.
Brian May posted this PTX cover of Bohemian Rhapsody to the Queen website with a one-word comment: “Enjoy”.
Now…Amazing Grace, Mad World, Say Something, and Can’t Hold Us would be great next steps. Just close your eyes and throw a dart.
That's pretty badass.
The Five Faces of New Pentaholics
1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah
If you want to hear Mitch shine, GOLD, YOUR POWER ( MITCH SOLO)
AHA (SINGAPORE)
Mitch is my favorite too! 😍 check out his cover of Your Power. It’s beyond amazing!
Absolutely agree to ya! 😘
Please react to “Gold” Mitch sings the lead and also “Royals”, “Havana”
Thank you!
Just a quick correction: Matt Sallee replaced Avi Kaplan as bass ☀️
The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC.
When the cover a song, they do it in a way that honors the original and stuns us with their voices and arranging skills.
Hey folks, I am trying a larger music screen and a different music/voice audio balance. Let me know what you think. Oh, also, sorry about the need for a filter. I had to upload 4 different versions to find one that finally worked. TH-cam has strict, and oddly randomly enforced, copyright rules.
Also, I am aware that I misspelled Bohemian in the video at one point. Please don't bring the pitchforks. Editing at 3am is rough :-/
I am also sorry you need the filter, but it's a cool one.
I love what you have done for a filter. If it avoids the wrath of SME, then it is one of the best ways of doing it that I have seen.
You’re not terrible your face is too friendly. Your sister sounds funny, she’ll eventually get to see them. I’m a pentaholic I just enjoyed that. Keep your channel going your keeping lots of people happy. Good 👍 luck from Ireland 🇮🇪
Sorry, but I’m with your sister on this one. Great reaction. More PTX! Subbed!
Most people are lol
You can't go wrong with anything Pentatonix does. Just sit back and enjoy. I love the ones where we get to hear Kevin sing. He has an amazing voice too. The ones that come immediately to mind are Amazing Gace and Mary, Did You Know.
Don't forget Imagine
I love your reaction of PTX. Mitch has probably the best voice in the world to me anyways. Keep going with your reactions of PTX. You would love " Can You Feel The Love" it's my favorite song of there's and Mary Did You Know!
Please do yourself a favor a react to Your Power. It's Mitch at his absolute best.
Please check out Super Fruit. It's Mitch and Scott. There beyond amazing!
PTX are simply astounding.
The only person change
Avi. 2011-2017. Bass. He had to leave due to his mother was ill
Replace by Matt. 2017-now
Kirsten and Mitch look different in every video but it always them
if people haven't noticed all their set changes were at the same time as the original I thought that was pretty cool
Say Something, Can’t hold Us, Evolution of MJ
Thanks! I didn't want to just do the same ol’ blurry image filter. Figured I’d spice it up a bit and hope for the best. Glad you liked it!
90s dance medley
Recommend Sound Of Silence Rather Be, and Amazing Grace. Also recommend Royals for a great Mitch lead.
Man, I love the graphics you used for the video! PTX did an amazing job with this song. Thanks for reacting.
Nailed it.
Lol loved the phone call
My sister can be painfully honest. It’s a gift and a curse.
Sound of Silence. They have 5...Matt Sallee replaced Avi Kaplan as the bass in 2017. No other group changes.
This song is perfect for Mitch to be the lead.
weird how on this filter on can see trees and stuff in the background I've never noticed in the dark of the original.
Since you like Mitch’s voice so much, you really should check out their cover of Aha, live at the StarVista, it’s guaranteed to blow your mind.
When everyone thinks you're ready they'll push "AHA in Singapore."
Since you like Acapella groups, you should give Home Free a shot-check out their version of Man of Constant Sorrow and When a Man Loves a Woman-you won't be sorry! You'll become a "Home Fry"-LOL
Mitch does the guitar sound in live performances. The megaphone is mostly just a prop for the video.
New subscriber :-) 😀 love PTX and your reactions!
The guitar solo is all Mitch. He does it live without the megaphone.
There is a video on YT of Avi busting speakers with his voice lol.
Your sister is right: “Pentatonix!”, and yes, you will be alright... lol. Sisters know. 🤗
Awesome. More pentatonix please. 😀😀👍👍
Their live stuff is a very good way to see the amazing things they do. "Show you how to Love" Live On Sunset is a great one to experience. After that, check out their studio version.
The title of that song is Love Again.
@@gingerjohnson1095 Ginger, “Show you how to love” Live on Sunset is what I’m talking about. You haven’t heard this one? Here it is: th-cam.com/video/PdG6zlD-aB4/w-d-xo.html
The studio version is on the PTX volume 1 EP from 2012. “Starships”, “Somebody that I used to know”, “Aha”,”Love you a long time”, “We are young” are also on this EP.
This song really is the Mitch and Kevin show 💜
I suppose as a PTX "beginner" you start with the big ones, but they have tons of other masterpieces, including original songs.
Seriously though . . . Sound of Silence . . .
There is a term "Mitch slapped" which describes the effect that Mitch appears to have on new listeners every time he opens his mouth. And in this song, his range being so close to the phenomenal Freddie Mercury, it was only fitting he carries it. On top of that, he makes a mean lead guitar.
BTW - The megaphone is just a prop. I have seen Mitch mimic those guitar riffs without it!
Imagine, Amazing Grace, Havana, Can’t Hold us, Aha in Singapore for Mitch going off the charts, the Sound of Silence.
My very favorite Pentatonix song is actually one of their very early ones from the competition that launched their careers: Florence & the Machine. I would love to see you react to it.
There's a "making of" video for this that you'd probably really enjoy.
EDIT: Also, since you love Mitch's voice so much, you should check out their Billie Eilish cover of "When The Party's Over." His voice is so heartbreakingly lovely in it.
Great reaction! I suggest one of their early ones Can't Hold Us and then a newer one The Sound of Silence. After some of the great covers you'll want to dig in their awesome originals.
You should check out their Amazing Grace video. Another one of their best. It touches your soul.
“Evolution of Michael Jackson”
“Evolution of Rihanna”
“Evolution of Beyoncé”
Just to name a few.
Also, their covers of No and Gold (by Kiiara) - if you do have a look at Gold, please check out the original first (even just a little bit) to see how great PTX and especially Mitch was in doing what the original artist couldn't.
Awesome reaction…next up Sound of Silence and Imagine…both are EPIC
If I'm looking at it correctly, you have just started on the trip and have so far done perhaps the most popular, and all of them are with the original bass, Avi Kaplan. For a change, maybe something more recent with the new bass, Matt Sallee, which will also show how the group as a whole has grown. They did a wonderful version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from the Lion King, and the best version of "Amazing Grace" I have ever heard. It would be interesting to know what your sister's recommendations would be. I love your videos so far, and that you have also reacted to PMJ.
Good reaction
Thanks for the reaction. Have you reacted to their cover of Imagine or their Evolution of Michael Jackson is amazing.
Of their original music some of my favorites are “Sing”. “Can’t Sleep Love” and “A Little Space”
Honestly everything they do is good.
Sound of silence, amazing grace, the prayer
I think Freddie would love it. He would be proud, and I don’t think they could receive a bigger compliment than that.
Avi, the original bass, left. Matt Sallee took his spot, so they are still 5. Love Again and Gold for a couple.
New subscriber here, I love how genuine your reactions are. Also, couldn't help but think of Stone Mountain at 5:57 🤣
Aha! Singapore Star Vista
Evolution of Michael Jackson
Defying Gravity by Superfruit (Scott and Mitch)
You have GOT to react to Amazing Grace, Evolution of Michael Jackson, The Sound of Silence and Can You Feel the Love Tonight!! They are ALL amazing!!
PTX has some of the very best Christmas songs, so plan to dig into them in two months!

I mean, you really can't go wrong with anything they do. These are just some of the highlights I can think of off the top of my head, and some of my favorites aren't even in this list. But I don't want to overwhelm you so early in the game. :)
Yes, one left....the bass, Avi, but Matt took his place and he also does a great job. I love "Are you that somebody X New Rules".
Daft punk. Rather be
I would Very highly recommend Pentatonix cover of Imagine by John Lennon, it's Awesome
Come on dude! Tickets for the Pentatonix Christmas Tour are on sale. Take your sister for her present.
Hmm, this isn’t a bad idea.
I love them all, but Mitch just blows me away every single time.
Just listen to everything Pentatonix has recorded lol Kevin Olusola's version of 'down' is amazing too
