I visited Atalanta last year before they started working on the south stand, it was a great mix between old on the south side and the new stand on the north. And the city is amazing!
Atalanta has one of the best ultras in Italy, they have friendships with ultras Ternana, Cosenza and Sampdoria, the most heated rivalries are with Brescia (one of the most dangerous derbies in Italy) Roma, Lazio, Fiorentina, both Milan teams , Genoa, Salernitana, Palermo, Lecce and Verona. I am very happy that you came to Bergamo to show our stadium, our atmosphere to thousands of people outside Italy, I hope that you will also come next season when the work on the south curve and the guest sector will be completed and I hope also that it will be allowed for the Lazio ultras to come away to Bergamo so that in the stands you will see the true spectacle of this rivalry, perhaps we could even meet in May in the Italian Cup final at the Olimpico
Atalanta couldn't tear down the guest section to maintain an obligatory number of guest seats during the 23/24 season (during the period of the reconstruction works). They’re gonna tear it down in the summer.

Atalanta have great ultras. I'd say they're very underrated too.
we used to have some of the greatest and most respected firms in ultras italian movement (Commandos born in 1972, Brigate Nerazzurre 1976 and Wild Kaos 1983)... Since 10 years ago or so acab clamped them down with hundreds of "Daspo-bans" from stadium for 3 to 5 years and they are doing more or less the same all around italian ultras stands :(

As an Atalanta fan, I have always wondered why they didn't demolish the away fans section of the stadium because it looks tragic. As for the old stadium wall, I guess that Italian law prohibits the demolition of monuments. I'm trying to learning Italian and I'll visit the stadium soon when they finish building it :)
They will demolish it at the end of this championship and build it exactly like the southern sector for the start of the next one. Fifa rules oblige them to have a guest sector available at all times

Hi Josh, the reason why you saw old and new structures at the stadium is because historic buildings in Italy cannot be demolished, they are part of the local history, pieces of art and they must be preserved. The stand where you were watching the game and the one opposite to you were built during the 1920's, because of that their architectural style is a form of art that has to be kept alive and in good form which means that those old buildings cannot be replaced by new ones nor be covered or even partially modified. Our new stadium will be a mix of old and modern design. Thanks for being in Bergamo, see you next year when all works will be done, in the meanwhile..FORZA ATALANTA!!

Hi Josh, I'm from Bergamo and I can explain to you what that Excelsior symbol is that you found written on the wall. What you say is the Rotterdam Excelsior, while in this case it is a multi-sports association located in Bergamo which includes football, basketball, volleyball and many other sports teams.
PS: Stunning video, and I can assure you that in Bergamo no one will hurt you if you are a Lazio fan and don't instigate anyone. Here people work from morning to evening and just want to go to the stadium and sing for the Goddess, we don't have time for these things which often happen when we go from Bergamo go to Rome. So I confirm LAZIO MERDA also for this reason, which is why you see it written on every walls.

Most of the footballsupporters in Italy hate Juventus so its very common to see 'Juve merda' around stadiums in Italy. Some of the rivalries in italy are because of the North of Italy looking down on the clubs in the south. Most of the time because the north is much richer than the south. The rivalry between Lazio and Atatanta comes more from a different political view from the main supportres groups of both teams. Lazio is i think focused extreme right and atalanta is somewhat left focused and that plays a big part in the rivalry.
I highly appreciate the contant from the dutch leagues. I hope you'll visit my team one day. Our stadiums is officially ranked as the most beautifull placed in the Netherlands so it will be good visit!

We have been to bergamo twice, it’s a far better city than Milan and we enjoyed Atalanta more than the san siro, we are from Northern Ireland and will be back in April

Shit you began your trip from the wrong side of the city :D About the stadium, Percassi, the owner of Atalanta, wanted to build a new stadium some years ago, outside Bergamo, but there was not a municipality in the surrounding that wanted have it. And it was not possible to demolish the two old tribunes the one that you show at 2.27...so they decided to make this mix between modern and old (and the two new stands are inspired by BVB Dortmund stands, just smaller).. Excelsior is a Bergamo's club in that neighborhood called Santa Caterina. I played there back in the days. Anyway the rivarly with Lazio, is more because Lazio is from Rome...personally as Atalanta supporter I can watch a match with everyone...I think that violent rivarly is just for primitive people...Anyway Bergamo is not dangerous per se...sure if you go the day of the match outside the stadium with the shirt of the away team maybe you find some stupid...but if you walk in the city center maybe you hear someone mocking you...but no violence...If you have question about Atalanta or Bergamo feel free to ask...

Why come up with a clickbait title. Nor Lazio nor Atalanta is considered the most dangerous in Italy, by far. Napoli is by far one of the most dangerous ones to visit, many clubs don't go there and those who do go in good numbers (especially when it comes to European matches where there is a chance of clashes between fans) and use the police escorts. All you groundhoppers nowadays come woth shit titles and give football fans, and ultras in general a bad name. If you want tonsee dangerous fans go to South American matches where recently 2 fans got killed and another 50 injured between clashes between Vasco de Gama and Flamengo.
About the Excelsior tag: Personal contacts, the only friendship Excelsior Rotterdam has is with FC Eindhoven who is also from the Netherlands. I really wonder more and more if you even know what you are talking about, also because you are suprised Nazio is not allowed in Bergamo. If you were a real 'Laziali' you would know why these two hate eachother.
