After witnessing the havoc wreaked on his hometown and its surrounding areas, director Barker White and a team of emerging filmmakers traveled across the most severely impacted areas of the gulf coast interviewing environmental experts, government authorities, fishermen, scientists, drilling engineers, and key BP contractors in a quest to uncover the truth behind the spill.
Beyond Pollution examines the economic impact and health effects of this tragedy on the local communities both in the immediate and long terms, uncovering what really happened, why, and who actually benefited from the largest man-made disaster in America's history.

Yes, it is a slimy mess in DC -
They didn't really clean up the oil though, they just pushed it to the bottom and it's still down there.
Oil is lighter than water- you can't push it to the bottom lol
They use Corexit a chemical produce by Ecolab , it turns the oil into droplets and most of the droplets sink to the bottom, some are suspended in deeper water columns.

Exactly safet measures and implementations are still way cheaper than having to pay compensations and clean up efforts, of course unless thats coming out of your insurance
I'm rewatching this in December 2023 with tears. Nothing has changed. It's worse, now they just say it straight out. Big business and government are the same and there's nothing we can do about it. Mother earth is tired of us. We are at the find out stage.

I'd like to see a documentary on what became of all the oil, exactly where and how big an area it has settled to, and what kind of habitats are there if any. THAT'S what I am interested in seeing.
The chemicals they used to clean it up has been killing people since the first few months .

Quite the brutally biased documentary. I'm sure not for the greed of oil companies, and their careless irresponsible attitude towards safety, but this film goes over the top.

Yikes just started watching this subscriber recently and now I’m a bit disappointed it’s not new current information. Very old and misleading title very amateur hardly any really in-depth science on condition of the Gulf of Mexico

Is this an ad for political parties???? I am NOT into the republican or democrat parties. BOTH are shady and do not give a chit about the people. We as the citizens allowed this to happen. Mainly because people rely on the media for voting - and people vote by party. Incredibly short-sighted and dumb. We are getting what we deserve. We the people - are not smart as a group. Otherwise we’d be able to join up and peacefully protest against the finger pointing and lack of “the people” being truly represented.
