    I know this video is OLD! But it saved my sanity today. I got the qyt version and I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me

    That was making my head spin. I bought one of QYT versions. I also got programming software for it. Hopefully its easier to program that way

      +Bob Smith Oh yes, with software, it is much easier to program.

    to tune in a repeater, there is a quicker way to get the TX freq. Select your RX freq in VFO mode. select you CtCCS tone. the set your Rpt + or - then hset the offset freq. Now save to the channel number you want. now stay in VFO and then pres the */scan button on the microphone. This will now display Reverser Rptr Freq. now save that in the channel you last saved. and you now have you channel with different freqs for the Rptr Offset. hope that makes sense.

    How good is the front end of these radios? We have several fusion repeaters here working in dual mode and if you don't PL the receive, it's bad.... I have several UV5R handhelds and even with the PL on the receive, the fusion digital still breaks squelch from time to time. I was wondering if the front end was a little stronger on these than the handhelds.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say the front-end on this radio isn't much better than a Baofeng.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ¿En qué frecuencia estás? La radio puede estar limitada a frecuencias exclusivas de radioaficionados, o tal vez a otro servicio de radio.

    My VFO stopped working on QYT kt8900. I cannot put a frequency in it starts but as soon as I put the last digit it go's back to =34.000 is there something I can do.

    I followed your video exactly, and I am seeing the transmit frequency offset change now on my programmed channel 0. I can hear the repeater when it transmits but no one can hear me, and I can tell I am not tripping the repeater. I also notice I have no CTCS indicator. Menu settings for CTCS is not sticking.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video is several years old and I have changed alot since then. Also, other commenters didn't have the problems you suggest.

    • @f.allenrisler5303
      @f.allenrisler5303 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No matter what I did at that point CTCS-T would not setting would not save.
      So I did another factory reset, started over, set CTCS-T first, then followed the video and it worked. Problem solved.

    So i have watched tons of vids on this and others little 20-25 watt radio... Question though.. Is there any way to change something in programing to use as a single channel display only or single line... When set up in your mobile and dont wanna have to squint or take your eyes off the road for long just to do a simple channel change... 1 larger row of 1 channel would sure work better... Thanks.. Thomas..

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Thomas Beske Not that I have seen. Sometimes you can change it to only show 1 band, but that wouldn't increase the font size of the other band.

    i recently purchased this radio, apparently it's newest firmware allows 2.5 step. my guess is that similar to baofeng the firmware is ever evolving. my newest baofeng uv5-r doesn't clone :( my other 4 do.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andy Montana Yea I am told the newer models do have the 2.5KHz step option.

  • @geoffva6ge179
    @geoffva6ge179 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Zastone MP300 that I have purchased has a 2.5 KHz step, while on episode 5, it was shown that Juentai JT-6188 only has 5 KHz step and up. It also comes with a different microphone.
    Also, my MP300 is also throwing 22-23 watts on 2 meters, just like the Juentai JT-6188.

      It doesn't surprise me that the same radio does different things. It just means the quality control of this product isn't great. But it still works well.

    Jason, or anyone who can help, I have the Juentai 6188, Zastone MP-300, Sainsonic GT-890 or whatever they badge it today, every time I hook it up to Chirp it informs me "Radio won't enter CLONE mode". The programming lead is identified by my laptop and uses ComPort 6 but I am pulling my hair out with this problem - not that I have much left. I have followed all of the Ham radio 2.0 vids relating to these models and as excellent as they are and well produced, I am having problems. Thanks guys if anyone could help.

    Tried to follow the steps but it went way to fast for me to see what was going on even after going back and watching it several times. The instruction manual reads like it was written in Chinese, translated to maybe Latin, then to Klingon and finally to English. Where can I get the programing cable and software?

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps you can Google "pause button" and learn how to use that feature in TH-cam ;)
      I would suggest Amazon for programming cable for this radio. Googling should also find you the software.

    • @chrisbaker2903
      @chrisbaker2903 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snarky replies are absolutely no help at all. So your first line was a stupid insult and your second line was almost helpful. Thanks a lot. Perhaps you can google "how to make a polite and helpful reply to a real question." Do you honestly think that after I said I went back and watched it several times that I don't know how to pause a video and move back and forth in the presentation to see what I'm missing each time. Please. Next time, maybe you could be a little more understanding and helpful. BTW, I'd still like to know how to program my radio manually. There might just come a time when I need to be able to do that.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Baker You're entire comment was an insult. If you really wanted help, you should start out by asking for it instead of throwing insults and then getting pissed when someone replies in like kind.

      @twohandsandaradio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HamRadio2 4 years later CHIRP supports it! YAY! LOL Not sure why everyone has to have CHIRP support. Didn't we have to pass a test for this hobby? We should know how to program a radio manually. I digress.

    hey, so this is gonna sound so stupid but a friend of mine bought four of these from ebay and whanted to use them as walkie-talkies in the cars as we go in road trips.. correct me please but isn't it as simple as choosing a frequency over 400.000 and then match it and a ctcc(?) code to my radio and the others? :) thank you

    It's a shame radio shack stopped selling amateur radios. That's why the company is closing stores and losing so much business. They never have what you need when you go there anymore besides cellphones and batteries.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt childfree Agreed.

  • @childfree83
    @childfree83 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's so much easier to program the yaesu ft 2900 2 meter 75 watt mobile. It's only 139 dollars and has automatic offset . Or even the dual band ft 60 r handheld for 159. The Japanese radios are way higher quality and easier to program for just a little more money

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt childfree It depends on what you want. The FT2900 is a monoband while the FT60 is an HT. So this Juentai has more features than both of them, if you want a dual band that is more than 5 watts. But to each his own....

      +Mika 14frs867 Eh bien, ce est une radio peu coûteux. Il en coûte seulement autour de 100 $ US. Vous ne pouvez pas attendre pour obtenir le perforemance d'une radio $ 300- $ 500 pour seulement 100 $. Pour le prix, je dis qu'il est une bonne affaire. mais oui, il va avoir des allées courtes en raison d'être un modèle bas de gamme.
