    We don't need to read books anymore. We learn from TH-cam and it's all for free...what a time to be alive.

      Just as long form podcasts expand the depth of knowledge compared to say a short form netflix mini doc, so too do books expand the depth of knowledge relative to podcasts.
      Don’t fade the books if you want the deepest alpha.

      Books have been thought about for months or years. Podcasts are off the bat. Really different approaches.

      I wasted over $200k on my son’s college education. He started investing in Bitcoin in 2012 which never was introduced in college…his words, wasted time for a B.S. degree.

      @@elysiumboatstbf you can find some incredible full length college and financial licensing courses on here which are based on textbooks. But I completely agree that it’s foolish to pretend videos are an apt substitute for books altogether. Depth of knowledge is not even close on TH-cam because it’s designed for a mass audience where academic books are designed for peers in academia and students (the best educated on any given subject).

    So paper money was an L2 on top of Gold ? Then they decoupled it from gold and based it on a country's future GDP?

      Bitcoin is like the "Yahoo" or "Lycos" of search engines, or the "Friendster" or "Myspace" of social networks. It's failing to adapt and improve as fast as Etherium.

    • @jeffknox5268
      @jeffknox5268 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Rightfully so. Eth doesn’t seem to provide any value. I’m still waiting for it’s niche to show itself. Bitcoins use case is clear and there’s no competitor. I’m not sure what Eth does, besides enrich VCs.

    Do not confuse money with currency. The representation is not the same as the thing itself. The representational thing that you can store and transact (e.g. the banknote-document) is not the same as the thing it represents (e.g. the currency system) and this is not the same as the fundamental coordination scheme (which is the monetary system). Banknotes are not the currency and the currency is not the money. The currency for example sets the rules for what the denominator is. US-Dollar is a denominator. You cant pay with the denominator. It is a naming. What you hand out the other person is the physical thing (can also be digital). This is the banknote (via denomination you realize a token-based model). The document acts as a IOU. This says nothing about the monetary order behind all of it. The money-system aka money is a credit-money. It coordinates human behavior by some algorithmic credit (aka "money")-creation process. But again, credit is not what you have in your pocket. Credit aka the money is the animus, the soul behind this particular coordination sheme. Other species have no coordination sheme. They simply violently take what the other has. Only species with a feeling of guilt and abligation can have a credit-based system. All the stuff on top, the currency, the payment channel (banknotes, digital banknotes, cheqs) does not change the color of the dress. Bitcoin is not money and humanity never had a non-obligation non-contractual monetary system. The gold standard was never a real thing. In the 20s, people payed with cheqs aka IOUs. The gold reserve was a human claim, that was long eroded at Bretton Woods had no effect on how money works. 20k B.C. they already used IOUs (e.g. the Ishango bone)

    • @user-yl7kl7sl1g
      @user-yl7kl7sl1g ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Credit systems can use Bitcoin and Ethereum as the underlying assets. There are already credit cards that do this.

    I've got a mate who sadly still thinks crypto is a good idea. He's a lovely guy but not very bright. When I asked him why, after explaining the many reasons why crypto will fail, he said he thought crypto would be the money of the future because of interstellar travel. It is really awkward when you have to try to stop yourself laughing in a friends face.

    Why is speed important but not fungibility or privacy. I think the next evolution of money after speed is privacy. That's why I'm buying Epic. it's what BTC should have been. Money is an arms race and its foolish to believe that BTC is the end all and be all. Especially if governments decide to become more tyrannical. Call it a hedge against tyranny.

    Can we talk about Kaspa as that next step as a medium of exchange in a digital p2p currency. Unlike BTC as a store of value Kaspa appears to be set at fulfilling Satoshi's vision. Please take a look as I believe it will be the next widely used medium.

    • @SAL-fs1mr

      Why would I want to use an altcoin that has 1000x less mining security behind it compared to Bitcoin?

    • @TreeBeother
      @TreeBeother 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SAL-fs1mr Fair point. In terms of adoption BTC has it and thus more miners = more security. However, the Kaspa protocol is more secure (Nakamoto Consensus generalization) by including orphan blocks (improved security) and the ability to be able to mine/contribute to the network to process your own transactions. Meaning there is less mining centralization and more decentralization with more single people contributing to the network. BTC is here to stay but it can't evolve and we can look at Kodak for that analogy. Best to you
