How do you know the purported tantalite at 1:25 is not schorl tourmaline? Schorl tourmaline looks just like that and is commonly found in pegmatites. Picked up dozens of schorl tourmalines just like that from a local pegmatite today. Lovely find in either case, but just curious. Those garnets are massive, pristine, and fantastic. PS, if you go back with a Geiger counter, you can very likely find extremely high radioactivity uranium (on the order of >100,000 cpm for small, few centimeter samples) (along with other rare earth metals) in the form of some kind of samarskite lying around. It will definitely be worth a second look. Lovely site guys!
I found a large beautifully faceted garnet right on the side of the trail. Still trying to find the source, not sure if it came from schist or pegmatite. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yep, always pack your crowbar 'cause ya just never know when you'll happen upon a mountain of garnets :} An ol' wise tale goes: What tool do I need the most? Why, the one I left behind of course :{ LOL

Mashallah, Good nice 💎
Such a deep , rich color in those Garnets
Where was this??
Great finds! The garnets in my area aren't as gemmy they tend to lean towards a more opaque almandine variety. I hope you filled your pockets!
Beautiful dark red color on those garnets! Is it possibly to remove the matrix around them to extract them?
It is possible but nice to keep them on matrix 😊
