I have a 95 z28 as well. Looking forward to the video when you change the opti. Thank you for making these videos, it really helps alot.
This video helped out. Nice job!
Hey again a great how too video.
Thank you man- my sons 1994 needed a fuel pressure regulator & I used this vid for help. Take care of your nice ride🇺🇸💪🏽
a question how much pressure should take
Thanks for the video. Looks like the space above your regulato,r on the red body of the car itself has been pushed/crunched up so you have more room. Is this correct and if so were you worried about damaging the car? More importantly you noted you did not think in hindsight you needed to disconnect the fuel lines with the quick release. Do you still feel this way. I un bolted my fuel regulator but could not get it to disconnect from the fuel rail and I don't know how to get it loose?? Afraid I might break something. But correct me if I'm wrong, you disconnected it from the fuel rail first then the fuel line itself. Any danger of hurting the fuel line by disconnecting it from the fuel rail, - when the fuel lines are still attached to that upside down star screw thing?
First, I never really noticed it pushed up until you said something.
Second, No the two lines that I used the quick disconnect on you don't really have to take off imo.
Third, With the regulator unbolted you can just wiggle it back and forth, try some pb blaster or wd40 if you can get it to budge. Pull it towards the firewall as you are wiggling it. Correct I waited to take the fuel line that goes to the regulator off last. Just don't forget the clip. No 9/10 times you wont hurt anything unless its brittle. I hope this helps.
Thanks for your video, is great! I need help, where are the fuel filter? How to change?
Fuel filter is in front of the rear end. Along the driver side up against the frame rail. If I'm not mistaken one end has a nut that you have to loosen and the other end has a clamp you squeeze and twist off.
I have the same car and it’s killing my mpg I put twenty dollars in the tank and it’s gone after like 30 to 45 mins of driving! It smells like gas all the time my car bogs out at 3000 rpm’s when accelerating on my T56 trans I hope this works I have injectors to change if not lol.
Im gona do this. Done everything else and my lt1 still runs rich to where your outside the house and you can smell it all around the yard.
First you need to start the car pull the vacuum line to see if any gas is coming out of the connector for the vacuum , if not the pressure regulator is most likely good.
What if the car don’t start just crank got a firebird replaced fuel filter fuel pump an now debating on regulator ???
@@nestorramirez2248did you ever find a fix mine is having the same issie
I bought the 15$ service kit (O rings and microfibers) did all 8 injectors. Then bought the 20$ regulator and my Z28 runs like new.
Just replaced the injects and it run amazing! But now it seems like it cranks and cranks when the engine is cold. I’ll swap the fpr just to be safe as everything else seems to be great
so my car is a 20 01 Camaro my car will I have a bunch of back pressure when I disconnect the fuel filter and it seems to me it does not run when there is too much pressure up to the fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator is what puts it back into the fuel tank is that correct so if it is not allowing for the fuel to go back into the tank then it would be the fuel pressure regulator correct
The fuel pressure regulator controls the flow to the engine, without it the fuel rail will not be able to build up enough pressure to support the injectors with the sufficient amount of fuel. Do you have any black smoke?
I have a 93 camaro. Iwas driving on the freeway, before it shut off on me it strarted to sputter really badly as i pulled to the shoulder. I tried cranking the car and nothing happend. So i left it and came back the next day, strarted it again .._ nothing it just cranks. So i switched the fuel filter, it was very dirty as the person i bought it from a month ago hadnt drivin it in 3 years and still, no start... So i took off the injectors, tried to do the diy homade injector cleaning but it didnt work. So i just sprayed the ends of the injector tips and then installed them, and it fired right up.._ and shut right off... Again , any ideas on whats going on here? I just replaced the fuel pump yesterday and there still isnt a difference. Heeeeelp plllllllzzzz!!!! Any advice is widely appreciated
Have you replaced the fuel pressure regulator like in this video? It sounds to me like a bad injector. Especially since it start up after you tried to clean them.
@@pedromonteverde64 my 95 has fuel pump wired to a switch and previous owner bypassed anti theft. I guess these cars have common problems w anti theft messing up
Why did u pull the fuel 😢 line ?
I'm wondering mines bad on my 94 it won't go over 20 psi changed the filter and was told the pump is newer at least.
Yes definitely could be the issue. Cheap thing to replace just a pain with little room like most things on these cars.
@@killrspeed00 I popped the entire rail off to replace it I stuck on off my daily which is an lt1 Caprice and it still had the same issue so I'm moving onto a fuel pump
@@killrspeed00 thanks for the video showing how to do it though good info on it
Aw man I'm sorry to hear that didnt work and you're welcome. Good luck with the fuel pump. That's a pain since you have to cut a hole or drop the rear differential to replace the pump.
I dont understand I have a 93’ and there are no fuel lines there where you disconnected them
My 95 Camaro Z-28 won't startup right away. It takes like two or three primes before firing up. It was driving fine, but now I noticed stuttering when driving.
I'd say to first replace the fuel filter since it's cheap and easy. If that doesn't work then you can check the fuel pressure regulator. If the screen looks good then you shouldn't need to replace it. The shuttering seems like a weak fuel pump in my opinion.
If it shakes and has a smell of nasty gas or exhaust smell, it's most likely your opti spark
@@jonhouse8672 Thing is it doesn't shake nor smell nasty gas smell. Once it fires up it drives like a champ.
What would cause fuel to come in through my intake? Could it be this?
Automotive Junkie I think it might be the pressure regulator. Doesn’t it have a vacuum line that runs to the intake?
@@pontiacmaniac7772 yes the FPR is controlled by vacuum from intake manifold
I have a 95 Pontiac Firebird I'm thinking it's the same thing rough idle slow acceleration misfire
For the price it doesn't hurt to change it out and see. It could be a number of things unfortunately.
@@oscarmclane4830 pull the vaccum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if there's any fuel coming out. Make sure the car is started
Will the Fuel pressure regulator cause a p0300 code on lt1 multiple misfire?
Yes, do you get any other codes? I've seen that code on the lt1 for multiple reasons from PCV hose, spark plug wires, or even a blown head gasket.
@@killrspeed00 so i suspected head gasket, because I can't hunt this misfire down for the life of me, but I don't get any coolant drop in my Radiator.
I just got my transmission fixed, and it started throwing codes p0175, 0300, 01380 and 1381. Threw some gas in with injector cleaner, cleaned up the plugs and worked. Still go through your vacuum lines for leaks and test EGR, Map, mag, tps, etc to make sure everything works. 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood 6 door LT1 👍
Is this fuel regulator the reason that my car won't stay crank
It could be but at the same time it could be a number of things. Mine was hard to start, would shut off and not start back up for a little. For the price I would say just replace it and see if it runs better. The screen in it might be clogged up, rusted or gone.
@@marcusbff did you get it fixed? Mine starts then dies after 3 seconds
Did you get a check engine light and if yes what was the code
It does have a check engine light but being that's its a 1995 it is obd1 and I don't have a obd1 scanner so I have no idea what the check engine light is on for.
No but that's why I was saying I can't scan it. There could be more then one code. So even if that fixed one the light would still be on.
You saved me so much time! I didn’t disconnect the fuel lines. Total time to replace was less than an hour. The view you came up with was the best. Volume a little low.
So you don’t have to take of the two fuel lines?
