The greatest Christmas advert ever was missing here. Sainsburys did a Christmas add in 2014 to comemorate the start of WW1 based on the 1 day truce on Christmas day. It is touching and beautiful and cost a fortune to produce but still bring a tear to my eye
I agree! Best advert ever. I actually already filmed a reaction video to it ... and it will come out next Tuesday! I hope you are subscribed and stay tuned! Cheers! Dara
Oh yes, trampolines and high winds are NOT a good thing! We had some wrapped around street lights, power line poles, fences, etc during some bad storms in Texas!
Edgar the Dragon helped me to restart my life. I'd recently lost my Mum and had somewhat shut myself away from the world, a bit like Edgar, I still went to work, but didn't want to socialise and was basically giving up...and then...unbeknown to me, my partner took herself off into town and into John Lewis where she managed to get me the very last 'Edgar' plush they had in stock, I should mention that I was a 55 year old man at the time (58 now) so not your typical person an Edgar plush was aimed at...But seeing that little guy re-join the commuinty in the heartwarming ad helped me imensely in my own effort to do the same, I know it sounds rediculous, but I just wanted to type this out...p.s. Edgar still comes out every Christmas and sits on the sofa with us.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for sharing that story with me! I am very glad to hear that you have such a thoughtful partner.💕 Losing a loved one can be so painful and the grieving process is different for everyone. I am glad that this little token derived from this advertisement was able to help you process and want to socialise again. By the way, I am also 58! Thank you so much for sharing your story and writing this comment. Cheers! Dara.
You so need to watch The Snowman from 1982. Here’s the link. The bit that the IronBru advert copied starts at 15:03. The show is only 25mins and is an Iconic and memorable Christmas story. A real treat for you.
We do have foxes in the US. Our badgers look different, however. John Lewis does sell trampolines. And this was a lovely look at some of the most fun British Christmas adverts.
I clearly am not hanging out in the right parts of the US! Lol 🦊 Good to know that John Lewis sells trampolines! I doubt I will be in the market for one anytime soon though.😉 Thanks so much for watching my little video and leaving a comment. Cheers! Dara.
Hi The Snowman is a wordless children's picture book by British author Raymond Briggs, The book was adapted into a half-hour animated television film in 1982, which debuted on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom on 26 December.
Loved your 'best of Christmas ads' video! Circular trampolines are very popular in our vicinity - all members of our family have installed one, and several neighbours have them. And - yes - John Lewis sells trampolines. Great ad for John Lewis - they set a very high bar for other advertisers!
I love the John Lewis ads in general... I remember the FIRST time I watched a British Christmas advert and realised they were a different level of excellent was when I saw the John Lewis Elton John advert. So good! Thanks for watching, Richard!
Since moving to the UK 4 years ago, the Christmas adverts are a treat I look forward to every year. (Lloyds has been my bank from the start and has always had my back, even when I started from scratch, with no credit history.)
Yes, the Christmas adverts ARE a treat! Better than mince pies! (Inside joke because I hate mince pies, LOL) I'm so impressed that Lloyds was good at helping you get a bank account from the start. We had such a hassle getting a bank account in the UK, even though we owned property AND Ian had a British passport! Thanks for watching and commenting, Michelle! XX Dara
Trampolines are very common. My number 1 is Buster its fabulous advert. However as my sister has reminded me she is a huge Keane fan (the hugest ) and thinks the Keane " Only Somewhere we Know " John Lewis advert from 2013 is the one sung by Lilly Allen . It could be the one that started all of them I think . Merry Christmas Dara and Ian and family. Xx
Yes, Buster is adorable! Great advert! As for your sister... she has good taste. I did look up the Lily Allen advert, but it turns out the song was going to give me huge copyright issues, so I decided to not include it. But it was a wonderful ad and song! Merry Christmas to you and yours! Cheers! Dara
This was so much fun, Dara!! I personally liked the rebounder commercial, however ALL of them were, as you say..."tender". Thank you for taking the time to find and edit these lovely commercials. I await with breath bated for next Tuesday's Sainsbury's commercial ~
Christmas programming in the UK is the best! I'm not surprised it's not the sort of thing you see in Texas, but we actually have a similar situation where we are... our backyard can be full of foxes, raccoons, possums... never hedgehogs though, sadly, and no trampolining. My partner almost literally ran into a family of deer once, jogging through the valley next to our house! Great to see Dara! Thank you for this!
I almost teared up on the cute dragon one! He’s so cute! Plus the music they used was so fitting! I loved all your commentary! Do more of these! Happy holidays sweetie! Love you. 💕
Yes, I'm a big softie, so I love the sentimental Christmas adverts with sweet messages. John Lewis has done so many great Christmas ads over the years. And yes, the hedgehog advert in this compilation has a special place in my heart. I was surprised and delighted to see that two of them had hedgies!! Thanks for the comment, James! Cheers! Dara
The Sainsbury’s WWI advert is my favourite however I really like this years John Lewis advert and it comes a very close 2nd, the WWI one just pips in purely on nostalgia points but I think this years John Lewis ad sums up my idea of the spirit of Christmas better
Haha, the packing peanuts worked a treat on the prickly hedgehog. If I had to choose a favourite ad in your selection it would be the first one with the trampolining animals, but they were all brilliant! Thanks Dara, I really enjoyed this!
Hi, Dara, I have mixed feelings about the advertisements in these videos since I am not familiar with British Xmas ads in the past and now. Some are comical and some are serious. In the end, Ads are to entice customers to purchase goods anyway. Fascinating to watch Brits ads. LOL. Great content. Ta-ta
Many of the ads try to have a moral or talk about the meaning of Christmas, so that is nice. In terms of advertising in general, these aren't very "hard sell" in my opinion. Certainly not like the commercials I used to make! LOL
Just keep the hard sell away from here please. People are more likely not to buy if you're trying to hard sell over here just to make a point we hate that style.
BRAVO DARA! Excellent editing!!! Loved all the heart warming commercials, we don’t see many of these type of Christmas commercials in the US. As a kid my personal favorites were the Norelco Christmas Santa from the 60’s-70’s….still makes me smile. Great job!!! ~Cara 💖
Thanks for watching, Cara! We do have some nice Christmas ads in the US, and there have been some beautiful ones over the years… but I think the British ones are even more heartwarming! Happy Thanksgiving! XX Dara
We enjoyed seeing these ads, Dara. I had never heard of "Irn Bru" before, but enjoyed (the best) the ad with the snowman bandit. The song was catchy and I'll be humming it today. I take it Irn Bru is a soda? Looking forward to next Tuesday's follow-up.
Yes, Irn Bru is this fluorescent orange soda that is very popular in Scotland. It has an indescribable flavour that is a cross between cream soda and bubble gum LOL! Thanks for watching! I hope you are enjoying Florida! XX Dara
Great reaction to these great ads. It seems that it’s become healthy such competition between the major U.K. companies. Looking forward to the Sainsbury’s ad next Tuesday. A Merry Christmas to you & your family 🎄🤶🎅🎉🦃🥦🎊🍾🥂
Yes, the UK companies work very hard to make nice ads for the Christmas season! The best of all is the Sainsburys one from 2014. It came out last Tuesday, and here is the link: th-cam.com/video/n7NNMR20AXI/w-d-xo.html Happy Holidays to you as well! Dara
I used to see foxes early in the morning going to work, especially in the winter when it was still dark with their eyes shining at you like two flashlights. (See what I did there). 🙂
@@MagentaOtterTravels This was all done for the advert. There are wild horses (feral) in NZ, in the Kaimanawa Range, which is a volcanic desert in the North Island, but none down here. Sadly it's not a 'thing'. Tomahawk beach is a place you are more likely to encounter rare sealions and penguins!
Have you NOT seen The Snowman? Did it not make it over to America? The Irn-Bru add is a spoof on a popular British Christmas film. A must watch every year in plenty of British homes. 😂
@@MagentaOtterTravelsyes I’m not sure what frosty the snowman is, though I think we’ve all heard of it. The music to the Snowman was also a hit at the time. It was sung by a young quire boy.
@@Poliss95 that’s right. Jones covered it and made cash and a carrier out of it. I don’t know why the boy who sang it for the film didn’t release it🤷🏽🤷🏽
Biff aka ‘Buster the Boxer’ passed away a few weeks ago 💔. He and his owner Jan are very involved in the Boxer Rescue charity I work with in the UK. 🇬🇧
As a horsewoman l think you can guess which is my favourite! Lloyds bank used to have the slogan “A thoroughbred amongst banks “ but then they started using Friesian horses in their ads, and then they changed the slogan. I don’t know if the two things were related but it always used to annoy me until they did! My poor husband had to put up with me saying, “That’s not a thoroughbred “ every time l saw it…. Nerd alert!
LOL... I love hearing the banter with your husband. Who holds a pen like a knife, right? Thanks for the horse analysis... I'm very nerdy about a lot of things, but I would not have noticed that. And yes, the horse advert was BEAUTIFUL! Cheers, Liz! XX
The Irn Bru advert goes to the top of my list. I had not seen it before; it may not have got south of the border. Look out for this year's Aldi Kevin Add which has a secret joke when he is watching the television.
Yes, your Scottish roots made you partial to the cheeky Irn Bru advert! I think it would probably be my favourite too... it's just that the hedgie was so cute in the last one, he melted my heart! I might have to do a "best of 2022" video... I'll see what I can manage ;-)
The Irn Bru ad you showed was the original one released 2007 (I think) - the sequel came out in 2019 and shows the boy trying to get the drink back - I won't spoil the ending. When the sequel was made, Irn Bru showed both ads back-to-back to take up a full ad break. The artwork mirrors that of Raymond Brigg's The Snowman and uses the tune Walking in the Air, although as you might guess, the lyrics were changed. Please don't think "What a know it all!", there was a TV programme on yesterday showing all the best Xmas ads from over the years. The Sainsbury 1914 will have me in tears - it always does.
Yes, the 1914 ad is my video tomorrow... I cried 3 times watching it! You are NOT a know it all in an obnoxious way. I like people who know things! I had never heard of The Snowman programme... but thanks to all the subscribers who have now told me about it, I plan to watch it with my sons on Christmas day! They are 24 and 26, but Christmas is for children of all ages, right? Thanks for your comment! Cheers! Dara
@@MagentaOtterTravels there are several Snowman films based on the books of Raymond Briggs - all are very good. If you get a chance watch The Bear and the Hare, another John Lewis Xmas ad and my favourite. There is a "making of" mini documentary on YT also that is fascinating to see just how it was created.
All John Lewis's adds are fantastic. You should look at the one 'Man on The Moon' which was for 'Age UK' and the one with the snowman where he goes to town to get his girlfriend a present.
John Lewis is a department store so they'd sell trampolines amongst the many products on offer. It's true that British advertising often plays with being a bit more oblique than some, especially at Christmas when they're trying to sell a mood & image as much as a product. The song wasn't technically written for the Irn Bru ad, or rather it was & it wasn't! It was spoofing one of our perennial Christmas classic shows, copying its look & feel, and using the original music "Walking In The Air" but with new lyrics.
Hello again, ET! Since I grew up in the US, not the UK, I watched "Frosty the Snowman" and not The Snowman. I didn't even know what that was until I read comments on this video. My understanding is that the advert shows similar animation, and they used the same song but changed the lyric, right? I look forward to watching "The Snowman" with my sons this Christmas. They are 24 and 26 now, but hopefully they will still enjoy it LOL! I adore John Lewis... and the Cheltenham one does have backyard furniture and grills in the store... but I've never seen a trampoline. Guess you have to look online! Cheers! Dara
@@MagentaOtterTravels Hi again! Yep, your understanding is correct! I hope you do a reaction video of watching The Snowman, it's one of those shows that really brings our national characters into sharp relief. What will probably shock you about our show is the tinge of melancholy running through it, and the bleakness of its ending. Frosty it ain't! 😂
@@eviltwin2322 hmmmm… I don’t think I can commit to a reaction video on that one. It’s rather long, and I’m hoping to avoid filming TH-cam videos on Christmas day! Lol. Maybe I can watch it on Christmas day and then just do a quick review video of it the next day?
Awwww...these commercials are so awesome (makes me realize how much I miss a good commercial)...I wish the parents would have witnessed all the wildlife enjoying the trampoline
Haha, good point, Tinesha! We are all screaming at the screen "turn and look out the window, mom and dad!" Yes, these days the only commercials I see are ones that TH-cam makes me watch before videos... mostly Liberty Mutual and Mint Mobile! I need to catch up on your channels... I wanna see vlogs from the Netherlands! ;-)
Staying at remote locations, while not watching TV or getting out much, we almost forget what time of year it is. Thanks for sharing the Christmas spirit with this entertaining (and scientifically made video). Beats visiting relatives and hearing some drunk uncle's boring stories, right?! 😉Nicely reviewed Dara, too bad there was no otter on the trampoline. 😂 Otter than... I mean, other than that, very nice ads. Really enjoyed watching these videos with you. 😊 And yes, the last one was the best one! 💕
While it was disappointing that there was no otter... I was pleased to see TWO hedgehogs in the ads! Yay! I hope you have a nice holiday season. Do you have plans to head back to NL anytime to visit family/friends?
@@MagentaOtterTravels Not at all to be honest. Of course we frequently do video calls and we don’t know home sickness as we have always been traveling a lot or have been on the move. Plus it’s quite the distance and expensive just to visit. We rather have people visiting us here or wherever we may be. I don’t see us crossing the pond anytime soon as we still have a lot of countries on our list on this side of the map. As long as we are together and on our journey we are two happy lovebirds, having all we can wish for. 😄
the thing about the John Lewis Christmas TV ads is they are rarely about the turkey and Christmas pud, we know when the Summer selling season is approaching every supermarket with enough space to display one gets deliveries if flat packed trampolines sadly most of this years ads are somewhat reflecting the mood in the country except of course for Aldi with the continuing adventures of Kevin the Carrot this year it's a spoof of Home Alone 😇🎅
Isn't that the truth!!! Or they don't last ten years because an awful gale blows through the neighbourhood and wraps the trampoline around the garage of the person next door!
John Lewis are excellent at advertisement. I have already gone out of my way to see this year's John Lewis advertisement ten times. It's a whole film in a minute and a half.
Dara - You must look at 'Love is a Gift' - it was put together for about £50 - as a juxtaposition against the millions spent by the high street stores....the creator and the two people who 'starred' in the video were all on This Morning with Holy and Phil talking about it, after the video went viral....it's a must watch.....indeed love is a gift, not just for Christmas !...
I am more than fashionable late to this party, but please watch the 'Mog's christmas'. Judith Kerr, the author makes a cameo appearance in this. As well as writing the Mog books she also wrote 'Hitler stole pink rabbit' about her childhood journey out of Germany as a very young child. It was also part of German literature. Its a lovely John Lewis ad
@@MagentaOtterTravels please watch this, the do a bit of research on Mog to children born here between 70s to 90s and the German reticulum in the 90s. Judith Kerr is a legend. look her up
The British advertisers really put a lot of money into making their Christmas adverts have high quality cinematography. That's why they seem like little movies! Wait till you see next week's 3 minute long ad... it's a movie that made me cry THREE TIMES!!!
Ooooh that trampoline add was gorgeous. Cute dragon, but then I am prejudice. Love dragons. Absolutely loved the horse add- but didn't get the Christmassy feel though. That last add is cute for sure. Finding the perfect gift- indeed. Lovely adds Dara. So enjoyed this. 💖 🇳🇱 🙋♀ 🇳🇿
Thanks, Anita! I'm not sure the horse ad WAS a Christmas ad, but it was nice nonetheless ;-) But that lil dragon was SO cute, wasn't he? I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season! XX
John Lewis usually spend a fortune on creating the best Christmas ad. Most are scaling it back this year with the cost of living crisis. Showing the true meaning of Christmas. John Lewis and McDonald's 2022 is a bit of a tear jerker. But the winner for me is Kevin the carrot home alone theme.
I heard about that! I need to watch those adverts... I just got my Xmas shopping done, so I'll see if I have time to get another reaction video out before Xmas ;-) Cheers!
Erste Group is a company that provides financial services in central and eastern Europe. Not sure why it's on a list of British Christmas adverts, but it fits the theme nicely. It was beautiful.
It seemed Christmassy and someone sent it to me at Christmas. But the ad has a nice message for any audience, so I guess it works well as an international ad that can be easily dubbed. The Lloyds ad was NOT a Christmas advert... but I didn't know that when I filmed the reaction video. That is the problem with reaction videos is that you haven't previewed the material! LOL Thanks for your comment. Cheers! Dara
Actually they have a limited global presence, although they are headquartered in Austria and deal mostly with Central and Eastern Europe. I know for instance that they have branches in New York and Hong Kong.
You have to watch Sainsburys 2015 Mog’s Christmas Calamity - so lovey, Mog is the star of a much loved series of children’s books. The writer/illustrator came out of retirement to write the story and the book was sold in store to raise money for I believe a children’s literacy charity
The Logo with the S with a dot on top is the Logo of the German Sparkhaser (sorry not sure how to spell I) as a member of the RAF in Germany in the 70s and 80s on camp we had the choice between the Sparkhaser Bank or The Commertz bank, I chose the Commertz Bank. Cheers again Aah kid
I don't remember any of these adverts but I very rarely watch TV. I did like the first one tho with the trampoline. They're pretty common in gardens. I can see at least one from one of my bedroom windows. No it's not mine 🤣Used to sup Iron Bru a lot many year ago. A friend of mine used to get it on the cheap because he worked at Barrs. I guess these ads never worked on me cos I didn't see them until now 👍
It's true that these days it is so easy to avoid watching ads! I only see ones that you can't skip through when watching TH-cam ;-) Thanks for watching! Cheers! Dara
Wow, id not seen most of these! Wasn’t too keen on the dragon, but wow, the snowman Irn Bru advert was outstanding! For me, i know its Christmas when the Coca Cola truck rocks into town with the traditional American wholesome Santa at the wheel! 👍
The Iron Bru advert, has an even funnier sequel, am Scottish, not a fan of fizzy drinks, and dont like porridge, can easily see it far enough away from me, but my husband does like porridge etc, and he loves the sequel to that iron bru advert.😃
Hi Lisa! Thanks for stopping by my channel. Foxes do exist here in the states, but really out in the country. I find it fascinating that British cities have so many! Those baby foxes (kits I think?) are SO CUTE! I hope you got to see some frolicking about!
I think John Lewis sells most things. :) That hedgehog brought tears. One of my pen names is hochiwich, which is Romany for hedgehog, as I identify with them. :)
the Lloyds bank one is my fave if you can watch the 250th anniversary extended one its fantastic and I cry every time I see it ! but then I am a horse lover :)
Yes, it is a gorgeous advert! After watching it, I'm not sure it even was for Christmas, but I loved it nonetheless! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers! Dara
John Lewis probably sells most things, they are a middle to high end high street department store. A number of years ago they were a run of the mill middle end high street department store on a par with Debenhams. About ten years ago some new marketing Uber kid team came on board and probably said don’t push product push yourselves make people remember you. It worked. Where Debenhams now? Everyone knows John Lewis now and people are starting to emulate the same style of Christmas advert. Christmas is poignant, fun, enjoyment, family and giving. I personally believe this is their best, it’s iconic John Lewis. Cheers Aah kid.
That is very interesting! I only got to know John Lewis, about five years ago, and I love the store! I even have some sofa cushions here in Texas that I bought at John Lewis in London! I feel very fortunate that where we live in Cheltenham we have our own John Lewis 👍💖 Thanks for your comment! Cheers! Dara.
A lot of global companies make ads which tell the story visually and words aren't necessary. I love that! And you might be right... perhaps they had a different song and subtitles in Germany?
The IrnBru ad and music wasn't exactly original... it was very strongly based on this story/animation by Raymond Briggs (he wrote the storybook and illustrated it) called The Snowman, shown first in 1982 on British TV. Well worth watching it in its entirety - it's shown pretty much every year during the festive season in the UK and is one of those iconic short films that have that status here. th-cam.com/video/upH1QZU4Z0Y/w-d-xo.html Briggs wrote and illustrated a number of other famous pieces including the rather dark When The Wind Blows, depicting a elderly couple, first ignoring the warnings and then trying to cope with the consequences of a nuclear attack. th-cam.com/video/9pJKdTqYijY/w-d-xo.html Love your reactions to these ads!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I loved the Irn Bru advert and had no clue about The Snowman programme until loads of British subscribers clued me in! Now we plan to watch that show on Christmas Day with my sons. They are 24 and 26, but are looking forward to it! Interesting to hear that Briggs had other works as well. The haunting music of the Snowman ad was playing in my head for days after watching it! Cheers! Dara
Don't have foxes in the States?! Maybe not in Texas but they are all over up here in the northeastern US (and we'd hazard a guess there in a few other parts of the US). They are fun to watch (especially the young kits at play in the yard/garden). They are not good neighbors for anyone who is raising chickens, however.
Yes, you and MANY other folks have pointed out that there are plenty of foxes in the US. I guess just not here in North Texas ;-) But the USA is a big place and lots of other areas have plenty... and definitely you don't want them in your free range chicken farm! They're cinematically perfect. Great story telling in just a couple of minutes. Beautifully produced. But. There is always a but. It depends on who is advertising. If it is a bank or insurance company or even a telecommunications company I react less than positively. Often I get sucked into an ad only to see who made it and I feel... manipulated. I guess that is the point. 😂 But having said that I've been watching programs about ads around the world for years. There's was even a TV show made by the the ABC here (like the BBC) about advertising called the Gruen Transfer (later just Gruen) which was hilarious. There may be clips on the interwebs. I really enjoyed this though. They were all great ads. Speaking of hedgehogs, we went to a hedgehog cafe in Tokyo. I expect to have that video done soonish. Probably the one after next. 🦔🦔🦔 Speaking of foxes. We have a lot of foxes in Oz too. An introduced pest. Not looked on as fondly here as in the UK. But they are darned cute. Georgia's favourite animal in fact. But even here in urban Melbourne I know of backyard chickens being decimated by foxes. Even our local school lost a few chooks to foxes. There is a fox island somewhere in Japan and Georgia expects us to go there next time. 🦊🦊🦊😀😀
That is so cute the Georgia wants to go to Fox Island! As for the hedgehog café, it better be like a cat café… a place you go to eat tofu and visit with some cute hedgehogs. You better not be eating hedgehogs! After your horse sashimi, I don’t trust you!!! 😱

Thanks so much! These ads were all sweet and/or funny. The one for next week is EPIC! But you need to have a box of tissues nearby...
“scientific” - lol! I like your method. And opening with a dog is so perfect!
NOT scientific, but there you go! Glad you like that cute doggo to kick off the "best" list! ;-)
Thanks Susan! Glad to hear you have woodland creatures in your back garden… you need to get them a trampoline! 😂

Great video 👍 you stay safe
Thanks for the suggestion, Dafydd! I'll have to check it out! Cheers! Dara
P.S. Nice to hear from you ;-)
I agree worth a viewing
Now you know what you need to do to give hedgehogs a big hug!
Yes! Have packing peanuts on hand!💖🦔
Haha, the packing peanuts worked a treat on the prickly hedgehog. If I had to choose a favourite ad in your selection it would be the first one with the trampolining animals, but they were all brilliant! Thanks Dara, I really enjoyed this!
Ian was happy to watch these because he LOVES ads with cute animals. This was a good bunch!
Hi, Dara,
I have mixed feelings about the advertisements in these videos since I am not familiar with British Xmas ads in the past and now.
XX Dara
we have foxes here in NC and we had them in Massachusetts when I was growing up. The sound they make is terrifying if you’re not familiar with it.
No foxes here in Texas... I think the bobcats eat them!
It came out last Tuesday, and here is the link: th-cam.com/video/n7NNMR20AXI/w-d-xo.html
Happy Holidays to you as well! Dara
I used to see foxes early in the morning going to work, especially in the winter when it was still dark with their eyes shining at you like two flashlights. (See what I did there). 🙂
Yes! haha
I love foxes and also cats... with their flashlight eyes. Now we just need to find a trampoline for those foxes and hedgies...
The Lloyds bank advert, with the 20 horses running on the beach was filmed here in New Zealand, on Tomahawk Beach, Dunedin, my chosen home.
THAT IS SO COOL!!! Have you seen the horses run in real life? Thanks so much for sharing your comment! Cheers! Dara
No I don’t think I know it… We have Frosty the Snowman ☃️… I assume that’s different? Thanks for the context!

Sorry to hear about the real life Buster passing away! But good on you for supporting that charity!👍 Cheers for your comment! Dara
XX

The dog who played Buster the Boxer passed away recently. There's a great video of him watching his advert on TV and bouncing along with himself 😄
That is very sad to hear, but adorable that he enjoyed watching himself!
The Irn Bru advert goes to the top of my list. I had not seen it before; it may not have got south of the border. Look out for this year's Aldi Kevin Add which has a secret joke when he is watching the television.

I might have to do a "best of 2022" video... I'll see what I can manage ;-)
My question, to all you dog owners with trampolines is, do dogs ever jump on trampolines?
Good question!
Yes my Sisters Border Collie jumps with the Grandchildren when they do !!!
Our neighbour had a trampoline and their dog would get on it with their kids, but never saw it bouncing on it's own

@@lesleyriseam1282 oh my goodness, that is darling!

Oh my gosh ... the last one hit me in the feels! Crying now! 😭
Next week's video is only one ad, but it's 3 minutes of nonstop crying!
Cheers! Dara

Yep, your understanding is correct! I hope you do a reaction video of watching The Snowman, it's one of those shows that really brings our national characters into sharp relief.

Erste Group is a German bank. Not in the UK as far as I know. May of been a German ad, but why was the song and sub-titles in English.
Well worth watching it in its entirety - it's shown pretty much every year during the festive season in the UK and is one of those iconic short films that have that status here.
th-cam.com/video/upH1QZU4Z0Y/w-d-xo.html
Briggs wrote and illustrated a number of other famous pieces including the rather dark When The Wind Blows, depicting a elderly couple, first ignoring the warnings and then trying to cope with the consequences of a nuclear attack.

Speaking of foxes.
@@MagentaOtterTravels LOL 😂 Eating them never crossed my mind. They are so cute. The had them fo sale too. As pets 😂
Trampolines WERE a big thing in the UK about 5 years ago. Not so much now.
They are trouble in high winds...
Love how different messaging is country to country!
Yes, there are cultural nuances that are different, but in general I think the British Christmas advertising is even more sentimental than American. 🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸 thanks so much for watching! XX Dara

Thanks for all the links, Greg! I'm glad I fished them out of "limbo" where comments with links go ;-)
I'll have to check things out and do follow up Reaction videos! Cheers! Dara
The dog in the first advert died last week😢
That’s sad! He was a cutie!
Have you seen the original snowman on which this is based? It’s iconic. I’m sure you must have.
No, I haven't! I need to find it...
Oh boy are you in for a treat. 1982 The Snowman. Made the lead choirboy, Aled Jones, very famous. Here’s the link th-cam.com/video/5A3THighARU/w-d-xo.html
Really? Ah, didn’t Aled do the singing on the single release?
