United doesn't need a Hawaii hub to aggressively push into the Pacific - it's started an SFO-Brisbane service in the past year, now ramping it up to daily. Now also starting an LAX-BNE service. Air Canada has long been able to charge high prices on its BNE-YVR route. So now we need Seattle-based Alaska to start a service to BNE! Many ppl would be grateful!
Probably from SEA, HNL, and possibly ANC (with Russian airspace still inaccessible to many western airlines, we might see a return to the Cold War-era system of stopping in Anchorage when going between Europe and Asia).
You say the one problem is the mixed fleet…. Alaska did quite well after the Virgin acquisition and slowly got rid of all the airbus products. They can do the same with Hawaiian. Hawaiian already had orders for Dreamliners and with Alaska’s very close relations with Boeing they could speed up that process. They would only need to replace 39 Airbus aircraft and those Dreamliners are sooooo nice. 🥰😍🥳
You DO realize the whole airline will be Alaska Airlines, right? The Hawaiian brand will be retained for some of the operation, but the entire combined company will be a single airline - ALASKA. By the way, 23 of the top 25 U.S. markets are dominated by the Big Four. Which two aren't? Seattle and Honolulu. Alaska already controls over 50% of the SEA market, and with this acquisition, Alaska will control over 50% of the HNL market.
There’s a third reason that regulatory approval might be easier: it’s very likely that if Biden loses the 2024 election, the deal is basically a foregone conclusion.
@@plane_nerd LOL I saw. I'll have to do more cabin videos. I have tons of videos on my phone but haven't posted them. Plus, videos from the flight deck, but I don't wanna get fired :-)
Alaska's operations are primarily in the West Coast and Alaska, so I wouldn't call them "a major airline." Plus they fly significantly less passengers than the big four: UA, DL, AA, and SW.
I don’t like this merger at all, the Hawaiian name will disappear in a few years, I get it Hawaiian will not struggle anymore but I just don’t like the merger.
Hawaiian Airlines name will not disappear due to the merger. The only difference between pre-merger and post-merger of Hawaiian and Alaska is the operation and crew. You will still board a Hawaiian Airline plane
Don't really see how this helps Alaska, and neither do investors, as after the announcement Alaska's stock tanked. I don't want Hawaiian to be bought up as they're a great airline and the "hometown" airline of Hawaii. It won't be the same if they merge into the Alaska group. Lastly I'll add, Hawaii's tourism numbers still haven't recovered from Covid, while I do love the Islands if you want a pure Polynesian experience there are far less touristy places to go that will grant you a better experience.
they tanked because they just announced taking on Hawaiians over all debt the stock is came back up to 40 a shares some of the highest in the industry. This will increase tourism & connectivity not only to the mainline but internationally as well
Seattle is actually Alaska Airlines headquarters not just a hub
Nice 787 picture at 6:13

Alaska can take the icelandair tactic, assuming wow air dont come ruin it
Keep in mind also, United has a hub in Guam.
Imagine in the far future you might see alaska a330s and 787s
Maybe for Alaska airlines to expand maybe even to some international longer routes using those A 330s Hawaiian has maybe?
@0:53 I’m pretty sure that’s my video 🔥 🔥!! Amazing video you put together. Very informative!
The Alaska Empire expands southwards!
Great video!

It was 100% the hostile restrictions and requirements that Hawaii placed on travelers that crushed Hawaiian Airlines.
The airline of one isolated state is buying the airline of another isolated state
6:14 B787 As A320☠️
Not blud showing A321 for 787 💀💀💀
I don't want to see either the Eskimo nor Pua'lani disappear. I'm an aviator, but I'm also mainland Indigenous and Polynesian, and proud of both!!!
Alaska DOES fly to Hawaii with the 737-NG it's ETOPS!!
Alaska airlines is based in Washington state.

why?
@@bosaitv if Biden loses (to a Republican [most likely Trump]), said president would likely just let the deal go thru no matter what.
LOL Awesome video. I noticed my name at the end of the video. Now I'm rewatching to see what footage you got from me. 😆
Appreciate the feedback, it’s the Alaska 737-700 walkthrough. Great channel btw :)

They won’t remain separate for long. It’s all branding for now
