yo Random. I have a '00 P71 interceptor with a random momentary toggle above the rear defroster with a red button. I want to say its for a former gun/shotgun rack but have no idea. any suggestions? also looks like I got lucky. I have a whalen siren in the front and two fiaa horns! oh and the motorola comm/radio unit in the trunk lol
If you tap on the horn 3 times and say, "there's no place like home", You will be transported to the nearest Donut shop. That wasn't me. I left my computer on and went to the store. My daughter's boyfriend, at the time, thought it would be funny to post stuff on my TH-cam channel, and especially my FB account. My Aunt messaged me back wondering how I could say such mean things to her. And then blocked me. So, I apologize if this comment was rude.
BTW, forget the glove box, there are MILLIONS of ford fleet vehicles that are keyed with a single ford fleet key. If you have a Vic with the fleet key, you can have the doors, trunk, and ignition re-keyed for ~$300, but I would keep that fleet key for survival type shit.
the box that is left behind the grille is not the siren. It is a 100 or sometimes 200 watt siren/pa speaker. it will not work unless you buy a siren box and install it, then run the wires to the speaker. So a switch from the parts store won't help you. also the strobe lights require a strobe power supply which usually mounts in the trunk and the wires are run to it, then a switch is run to the power supply.
*talks about how not everyone knows everything about the crown vics so they are hidden secrets* "Okay guys so the number two thing" *Pulls cupholders out*
I found that all crown Vic's have the traction control button and pedal adjustment button. The P71s have a different panel then the P7Bs so they are actually covered. So if you have a P71 and want those features just find a panel off a 7B and you're good to go
Just so we're clear, you risk impersonation charges of you rewire the siren or the strobes. Also, the strobes require a high voltage module that can be difficult to acquire as its placed from the factory.
He is a cop, doesnt have to impersonate. Now whether or not his department would reprimand him for having them on his personal vehicle is a different story
Please tell me you don't keep your "Precious Metal" in your car when it is parked.... Any one who breaks into your car and finds the glove box locked will open said glove box... a screw driver will open any glove box, you don' t need a key.
Screw driver isn't the most reliable method but seriously, gloveboxes aren't the most secure things in the planet, keeping anything of value that isn't necessary in there while you are not is moronic
the cars are known as "Keyed Alike" and the departments then only have a couple different key cuts. easier to manage. Cup holders are rare actually now it seems as departments usually throw them out. The adjustable pedals are because officers heights are varying more then they used to, ford wanted to adapt the cars to different officers. Please stop posting false information about these cars. It's getting a bit irritating. But I will say your black vic is a decent looking vic. If you want to actually learn about these cars, message me.
yeah, this dude is spreading a lot of dis-information. Some of his videos interceptor equipment is not factory and is most likely department contractor installed. I have a "admin" p71 with different options I won't mention due to officer's safety.
My P71 came without a glovebox insert, just the door. Now I've never had a locking glovebox so I just replaced the whole thing with a unit from a Grand Marquis. You convinced me to try my key on the glovebox door. Sure enough it works! That is absolutely insane. Thanks!
Hi. I'm a Philadelphia Police officer(33+ years). We had a few of our Crown Victorias that we were able to remove the keys from, and they would still run. I now own a 2007 Crown Victoria (P1) that I've owned for a little over a year. I'm definitely going to check to see if any, what unknown secrets there my be in my vehicle. Thank you for sharing this video.
I ran a Taxi company and had a big box of keys for old and current cars and if someone lost keys or locked them in car it never took more than a few minutes to unlock the car or find a set that would start car
i think its actually 20 something different cuts. I know that the cars lock cylinders are often so worn out after a while you can open them up with bike lock keys. I've done it on one before. lol.
my 2011 still has the strobes like that, and they left the controller for them in the trunk. So, I hooked them up to a simple switch. I like to sit sometimes and get out and listen to how they sound haha..
I would really like to say THANX, this is my first police interceptor, I have learned a lot from your videos, you figure out how to hook up the strobes in the headlights please post thanx. keep up the good work
The siren is just a speaker, by the way. It's a 100 watt speaker. You need a specific siren amp to actually have police siren sounds. About $250 on amazon, and also is a felony to have in my state.
5.32 We have this on all British Emergency vehicles. (police,Fire,Ambulance) its so when you arrive on scene you can keep you Blue lights on without killing the vehicle battery. We call it Run Flat.
The siren box needs the right frequency to emit a siren. It is just an over sized speaker. And as for the key opening the glove box is because that one key is cut close enough to open the lock
Mr random i really wish I knew how to message you. I just bought my first crown victoria 2007 pi. it was a retired detectives car. still has it's undercover lights behind the grill. it still has the tracking box and all the power mains for it but all the wires are just cut. I might have to make you a video
my first vehicle was a 2000 p71 i got rid of it then a friend of mine bought it and totaled it i kinda regret getting rid of it but it was horrible in the snow especially in north western pa
the pedal adjust is for shorter drivers, my lincoln town car executive L(long wheel base) has this feature, im 6'3" and I can adjust it so that I can barely touch the pedals lol, and I can also make it as short as a person thats like 4'11" could drive it lol, so it cant be because of the cage, on the lincolns it was standard also the traction control button, on the mercury it might have been too and on the crown vics was probably optional like the traction control button. also the 2 front chargers are the same, but the lincoln doesnt have the cup holders on that tray, it had them on the center console seat armrest combo thingy mcjig lol
On the power points they are still both wired to be hot only when the key is in on/acc position; on my '08 Marquis I snipped the power wire going to the lower one and tapped into the constant power feed to the radio, This way my lower one is always hot to charge my phone or whatever but the upper one switches on/off with the key for my dash cam. Cheap and easy hack for those comfortable with wiring diagrams etc. ;)
My moms 2000 Lincoln town car key unlocks my friends 1993 f-superduty and my 1994 mercury grand marquis key starts it. and his f-superduty key wont unlock my mgm but it will start it. ford keys are like that at least the older styles
That anti-theft you talk about is not factory and aftermarket. It was an option on the remote start I installed on mines. Some departments will install them but there will be a switch you have to push to let the system know you are taking the key out. On my remote start, I push the remote start button once, the doors then unlock signaling that it is safe to take out the key and the car will remain on. Like you said, when someone jumps in and presses the brake pedal to put the car in gear, the engine shuts down.
O shoot. I did not know about the second plug. I found in in my 2012. Thanks bro. Thats y i watch ur videos. This is my 12tg cvpi. And never even knew that.
My 2000 CV cupholder does not fit a Yeti or Ozark trail mug, it is to small. another difference is the remote 12VDC plug in is down on the passenger side. I keep one of those lit up plugs in it so I can plug in usb devices and it lights the side my wife sits on at night. If I can find a newer CV, I will see if the cupholder is easily swappable. The CV is my choice for a highway car. I have a friend who has access to the NMO mount VHF antenna for the P71. I am a ham radio user and these antennas are good for 2 M, they also have a UHF antenna that mounts on the car, so I can put my 70CM radio in.
The pedal adjustment button was actually intended to help "grandma and grandpa" reach the pedals. That's the REAL demographic they were shooting for there with that option. The lowest pedal adjustment actually puts the pedals in the same spot as a car without the option.
I would love to own a Crown Vic. The only problem is that I live in Australia, and we never got the Crown Vic exported here. Not even the civilian version. Now, I have no doubt I could import one myself, but the amount of work and money required to make it legal to drive here wouldn't be worth it.
That radio feature explains my gremlin....sometimes the radio goes full blast and I can't turn it down. Have to shut it off and radio volume wont reset until car is shut off
Thank you for clarifying what the p71 is. Oh that's so strange that it can be applied to the p71 I'll disable that. Do you have any videos on electronic fixes, replacing the radio to where you have nav working. Thank you
new 2003 crown vic owner here... does the crown vic have a reset button for the radio which stopped working after i put in a new battery? cd and tape work but radio just has white noise now on the stations....thanks ... love the vids!
What’s the significance of the skull decal with the blue line flag running vertically, on your passenger airbag cover? It looks almost like a Metal Mulisha decal.
Do you have a lumbar support button on the bottom front of your driver seat (2011) I would’ve never found it if I wasn’t trying to fix something. I’m really curious to know if you No it’s there
Good point on the glove box lock. However one thing to consider is that the glove box lock is not much of an obstacle for an intruder if they really want to get in there. Most thieves will come prepared with a small set of tools to bust in to these types of places. Also, would not recommend anyone leaving a weapon in their car EVER if they are not going to be in it. Just saying. Thieves only need a minute if that much to take your hard earned valuables. Happens here in certain parts of Tampa all of the time.
On the brake pedal switch if you take that panel that switch is in you should have another another connector back there for the traction control turn off
you can do the key thing with any car and if its a non chipped key for a newerish cars the reason it opens the glove box and not start the car is there designed that way take rc controllers for example you can drive someones car right to you with a cheep little walmart toy. now with the 2.4 ghz ones you cant same with the fob keys
So I have experience with Police Vehicles since I used to be a taxi driver so I dealt with a few Retired Police Car Impala/Crown Vic... So the thing is they are FLEET vehicles so high chance your key will work in multiple cars of the same make. Like literally my key to my Impala Cab I could literally jump in ANY of the cab companies Impalas and drive it and the same goes for the Crown Victoria this was done for simplicity for Police Departments.
Excellent video, all the hidden features didn't see that one coming, I'm in the process of buying 2011, Crown Vic, 93000 miles drama 2700 idling hours, give me a shout back what do you think thank you very much
at 0:16 yes indeed that is not the camera the sky in Florida is that deep blue that's how clean the air is being on the peninsula between two huge bodies of water.
Me too... I've been a subscriber since you were in low triple digits total subscribers. It's been really neat to see your views and subscribers skyrocket!
Have you ever had or seen a crown Vic police interceptor with a factory key fob? I saw a cop that used one to open his trunk and was like huh!? I want that!
My crown Vic has secure idle. There is a big red button next to the pedal adjustment button. you push it and then you can remove the key and leave the car on
They left the siren in my current P71 but I am NOT going to hook it up because it would be too tempting to use it. :) I wonder how big of a deal the glove box lock is - I wouldn't think it's secure enough to keep out a thief regardless of the key.
That box behind the grille is not a siren it is a siren or pa speaker. The siren box with all the siren times is separate, it hooks up to the speaker. So a simple switch from the parts store will do you no good. this guy is clueless
Are we even legally allowed to purchase idle secure? And if so, where can you purchase them at? My 2006 p71 had almost everything removed except the divider mounts, and push bar. I would like to have the idle secure reinstalled to my car, It’s very convenient. Edit: I’ve been surfing the web to find a site that sells them
You know all this time I thought my 1988 Mercury Sable LS had a flaw with removing the key while she was still on and shutting off when I tried to put her in reverse. Now I know it wasn't a flaw. However that was many years ago and I no longer have the car.
love your videos. I have owned my Cvpi for almost 2 months now. i have bought the center console and i love it. I have a small switch on my car under the dash next to the extra plug idk what its for, also. Where can i get the panel that has the traction control/pedal adjustment from?
Great video! thanks, you mentioned a few things I didnt know about, I definitely still have a siren I wondered if thats what it was, I will have to check to see if I can pull the keys out when its running. As far as the radio goes I just thought it was messed up wiring when the police gear was removed lol good to know its a common thing, thanks!
I have an 09 crown vic police interceptor there is a round button on the corner of the driver floor board if you push the e brake down its right behind it wouldn't even see it if you didn't look good enough I haven't pushed it yet just wondering what it could be
The glove box key thing is not a flaw it’s called a state key 🔑 Witch is what state your car was used in they all have the same key in case like some one leaves there key in the car they can use their key to get into it
I own a 2011 crown vic, but because it used to have lights and sirens, the horn doesnt work. I've checked the fuses and looked at wiring diagrams, but I didnt see any that were blown/missing. I dont want to tear apart my entire steering column to reconnect the wire, do you know what else it could be?
thanks for watching! lets hit 500 likes!👍
Mr Random Reviews is that a sccy cpx-2?
That was a Kel Tec 9mm
Jason Broadhurst Keltec... but not 9mm... it was a first generation P3AT.
Thanks , didn't know !!
If you tap on the horn 3 times and say, "there's no place like home", You will be transported to the nearest Donut shop. That wasn't me. I left my computer on and went to the store. 🤣🤣🤣
😆😆😭😭🤣🤣☠️☠️💀💀✅✅⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️😭😭😭😭
i tapped 3 times but sadly nothing happened, because the horn wires were disconnected
The "Anti theft" is called secure idle its for police to leave the Vehichles running at all times
Do you know about that and how to disable or by pass it
BTW, forget the glove box, there are MILLIONS of ford fleet vehicles that are keyed with a single ford fleet key. If you have a Vic with the fleet key, you can have the doors, trunk, and ignition re-keyed for ~$300, but I would keep that fleet key for survival type shit.

Gray Alley THIS ^
Gray Alley thank you for taking these words outta my mouth
I still have that box. I wish I could post pictures on here 😂
Yeah this guy has no idea what he's talking about Lmao the factory siren location is on the passenger side behind the bumper.
LoudChevyNoah Never seen one back there before. All the speaker brackets are designed to be placed in the grille mounted just beside the hood latch.
i have had a crown vic for 6 years and never new about that second charging station thanks for the help brother

It drives me crazy when the radio volume increases!
mello >>> yes it’s possessed and it turns down on its own too. Very annoying. But I can live with it for now.
@@B3burner just replace the radio with a pioneer radio and it looks more modern and it’s higher quality anyway

I know quite a few departments had 1 key that each officer carried that could start and unlock all their cars.
I ran a Taxi company and had a big box of keys for old and current cars and if someone lost keys or locked them in car it never took more than a few minutes to unlock the car or find a set that would start car
That's because there are only 5 - 10 (can't remember how many exactly) keys that fit these cars.
i think its actually 20 something different cuts. I know that the cars lock cylinders are often so worn out after a while you can open them up with bike lock keys. I've done it on one before. lol.
That one feature is speed adaptive sound. It's on a lot of cars, but older ones generally need you to activate it cause it's off by default
Thanks again Mr Random. about the Vick
my 2000 f150 I could start it and take the key out does that mean it was a cop truck 😂
Probably not it's probably just your key cylinder is broke
😆 😆
No old trucks can do that
Are 2 of the vics from the same department? A lot of police departments did the factory option "keyed alike" where they all have the same key...
Kick Ass FORD logo on the grille, dude!👍
my 2011 still has the strobes like that, and they left the controller for them in the trunk. So, I hooked them up to a simple switch. I like to sit sometimes and get out and listen to how they sound haha..
hey there... where did you buy your Ford blue lives matter emblem for the front of your car ?
I have owned one for 6 years and didn't know about half of it. Thanks again.
I would really like to say THANX, this is my first police interceptor, I have learned a lot from your videos, you figure out how to hook up the strobes in the headlights please post thanx. keep up the good work
I'm in this position now
I love guns. Just got my Florida ccw. Nice video btw
And the strobe lights need a control box as well the strobes run about 350 volts
The siren is just a speaker, by the way. It's a 100 watt speaker. You need a specific siren amp to actually have police siren sounds. About $250 on amazon, and also is a felony to have in my state.
My 2001 Ford Taurus SEL has a lot of those features like the adjustable pedals and seats you mentioned in your videos.
Called a fleet key you can get into any crown vic and start it also
I just got a 07 crown Vic p71 and I don't know anything about it so thanks for showing

Loving your videos! Looking at a 2010....now I’m thinking...”Go for it!”
i really like your videos when i get my license and try to get one this teaches me things that it may have that can be useful.
The “anti-theft” feature you described, keyless idle, was not a Crown Vic option. That was a common aftermarket add-on.

They left the siren in my current P71 but I am NOT going to hook it up because it would be too tempting to use it. :) I wonder how big of a deal the glove box lock is - I wouldn't think it's secure enough to keep out a thief regardless of the key.
Lmao man it would come in very handy on traffic
Mr Random Reviews even more handy to the prosecutors during your trial 😂😂😂
That box behind the grille is not a siren it is a siren or pa speaker. The siren box with all the siren times is separate, it hooks up to the speaker. So a simple switch from the parts store will do you no good. this guy is clueless
Gray Alley u can hook a walkie talkie mic thing then the pa will work so u can tell everybody who is a idiot at driving to get out of ur way xD
Thanks for all the valuable information bro👍
I checked the trunk in my 2001 and my 2006. there was an extra wheel and tire in each!.... mind blown.
You nailed all the problems in my Crown Vic.
a 90s 2000s jeep Cherokee key is able to open similar year gmc sierras
Black out mode...You can disable the door switch so the interior lights don't come on when you open the door.
I have an 09 crown vic police interceptor there is a round button on the corner of the driver floor board if you push the e brake down its right behind it wouldn't even see it if you didn't look good enough I haven't pushed it yet just wondering what it could be
i didn't know about the strobe lights I'm gone check mines in the morning
good stuff man. hey what part of Florida your located at?
9:15 believe it or not there's a guy I know with a former Rossville TN. 2001 Crown Victoria and it's got 2 led hideaways left in both markers.
My car came with one key and it’s the spare stamped EVIDENCE and it looks just like yours 😂
I didn't know some had an anti-theft feature. That is kind of cool.
radio speed button - wild hahaha - will have to check that out on mine - thnx!
Lol I subscribed cause all the Vic reviews forget the stang reviews lol
Good information. Keep doing your thing my friend.
The glove box key thing is not a flaw it’s called a state key 🔑 Witch is what state your car was used in they all have the same key in case like some one leaves there key in the car they can use their key to get into it
Love those cars! Thats a beautiful ride!
Cassandra McGarry Try replacing the horn. It’s an easy enough job, there are likely several how to vids on how to do it.
@@enlightenedrenegade472 I'll try it, thank you
Hey bro so my husband bought me a crown Vic 08 police interceptor and I have a blue switch I'm not sure what that does at all.
