Lost to a team that didn't make it into the top 20, but came back to win another 8 teams in the round of 16, defeating teams like Stanford, Wisconsin, and Nesbraska, the championship favorites in all 3 matches. I have no skin in the game, but I thought the game would go 5 sets. Texas kept Nebraska out of system most if not all sets. Anyway, the NCAA pumps up Nebraska and Wisconsin too much due to fan turnout. These two teams always show in the polls as number 1 or 2. All year, Texas did not look like they could make it to the Final Four much less win another championship. They made adjustments. They peaked at the right time. The hype for Wisconsin and Nebraska was warranted really as they played in the much more competitive Big 10 conference. Both teams just happen to run into a Texas team on fire.

The new normal for all college teams is the transfer portal. Texas volleyball has been able to utilize it to their advantage. Maybe Cook is sour that Texas won last year with two Nebraska transfers. The one thing that everyone mentions is how Nebraska has no seniors this year. I do not follow Nebraska enough but that seems like a roster management problem in that 4 years ago their recruiting yielded no one who stayed. I believe their only senior would have been Anni Evans but she transferred to San Diego this year. Or Akana who transferred to Texas last year.

Maybe he should have but Harper Murray was not the only player that had a bad day in serve receive. On this scoring run, O'Neal got aces off Beason, then Murray, then Batenhorst, then Murray. Texas targeted her the most but Texas aced off DS Choboy and Libero Rodriguez in different points with different servers. Maybe Cook could have changed the lineup but if Nebraska has not played with that lineup, it might have been worse. Texas really brought their serving game to the tournament as they did the same thing to Stanford then Wisconsin. Both of those teams struggled because of the Texas serve.

@@rb012b Again, Murray was not the only player that got aced. If Cook had to substitute based on poor serve receive, he would have had to substitute 5 or 6 players. Heck, Texas got aces of DS Choboy and L Rodriguez, two players whose specialty is to serve receive. And that would not solve the problem as Texas went after Kubik as soon as she replaced Batenhorst. Kubik nearly shanked her receive too.
If Cook replaces Murray with a DS, that takes away from the back row attack option which Murray provides. Looking at the Nebraska lineup, they do not have a OH sub for Murray that can do everything she does. What Nebraska did later was to shift all other players so that Choboy and Rodriguez would be the only two to receive. The result was two aces by Swindle against Choboy and Rodriguez and mentioned above.
Please tell me which Nebraska player would you sub for Murray that would fit in their system.
