Thanks for the video! I might be putting this into my Tacoma in the future. I have a question though, would you know if there's a motion detect feature, just cause I'd love this if I had my Tacoma parked on my driveway or on a public parking area as a hit and run kind of thing. I've had my vehicle hit before by a drunk driver backing out of their parking spot and a security parking attendant ran over to me and said they have a video for the whole thing. If it wasn't for that video I would of had to fight to find that driver somehow. I've also had a driver floor it out of their parking spot and I couldn't file a report due to being on private property and I got stuck with the bill. I'm really considering this camera.
@@markunion9156 That’s probably something they would be working on next. Wouldn’t put it past them at this point. But no it does not have an app or a motions sensor this is not a harness issue it’s just the power source. You may need to just simply get the right camera that has that feature and an app to support that.
@@TheRealJimmy831 I’m in the same boat during the week I work remote and sometimes don’t drive for a few days unless I go out to run some errands so I think the timed option is best. That gives you 4 hours of recording time after every time you turn the truck off. If you run a deep cycle or dual battery maybe the continuous option could be fine. Either way both options have a low voltage 10.5v cut off so it should never actually drain your battery.
Neither. You want parking mode. This does not provide parking mode. Many of the dash cams that are sold today have parking mode which uses either motion activated via video or g force activated via rocking to activate and store video Some places call it sentry mode In order to accomplish that almost all dashcam require a hard wire connection. This device, the dongar pro is not going to be sufficient for what most cameras are expecting.
Installed on 2020 OR. Connected to the auto dimming rear interior mirror without homelink. power for parking mode does not work for my truck after turning the truck off.
@@rrarogal7958 What do you mean without home link? Did you set it to timed or infinite? There is also an ignition mode on the Dongar Pro so you need to be sure it’s not set to that otherwise yes it will turn off when the truck is off.
@@quicksendtaco Contacted Dongar support and they stated if my rear view mirror does not have garage door buttons, constant power mode will not work. Timed and continuous mode does not work. Ignition works just fine.
@@rrarogal7958 Dang, sorry to hear about this experience I have never read about that or was not told anything by Dongar. Glad you got the answer though.
@@quicksendtaco Thank you for posting the video and your experience. Was hoping to duplicate your result with my truck. When it didn’t work, I thought I had a faulty unit. I’ll look for another solution or just run the dongar pro in ignition mode.
@ Np! Honestly running off ignition is what I did for months before having the Pro module. The chances of needing the camera while in motion are far higher! Cheers.
@@canoeshoe I’d imagine there is something at play here in the Dongar Pro that force draws power from the rear view mirror. I don’t ask questions haha just love that it works!
Awesome review. Thanks, Nick! So glad to see that you're enjoying your new Dongar PRO. So sleek!
@@dongartechnologies So far I’m loving this new module! Mad props to the team behind developing it! Thank you!

After install on 2024 tundra auto dimming doesn’t work anymore any fix?
@@peaceofmind106 I have not experienced this before hopefully Dongar can jump in here and help!
I travel for work and leave my truck parked for days at a time which mode will be optimal?

Still confused how this works. I didnt know of anything that can force the car to provide power while the car is off.

Wait a minute....is this product not compatible with 2016-2018 Toyota Tacoma?
@@SAPPER510 Did I accidentally say that? No mine is a 2018-2019 Tacoma so it’s definitely compatible haha
