Water Quality Sampling After the Storm

Hurricane Debby may be gone but the effects from the storm remain. That’s why scientists were out this week collecting critical data to help monitor estuaries in the Sarasota Bay area as directed by Florida’s Emergency Operations Center. Staff from the Southwest Florida Water Management District and Sarasota Bay Estuary Program collected water quality samples because historic levels of rain and flooding from Phillippi Creek and surrounding basins produced discharge into area waterbodies.
