Ramblin Fever is not an easy song to perform,. There a sections that are very different and require great interpretation -Also note he's playing his iconic Telecaster in this song, and even though he's not a true guitar player, session players would probably give him a passing grade on his solo here. There's only a handful of musicians since Bach, that are musically emulated like Merle.

Never have I heard the artists of Bakersfield Sound of Country music referred to as Outlaws. Buck Owens, Haggard, Red Simpson. Waylon Jennings was the first to publicly 'buck the system' using his own band members to record his albums. Thus breaking a contract between RCA and their session players.
