in fact the russian authorities lied about it at first, saying i was nothing serious to the rest of the world. the people who lived in pripyat were not aware of what happened. The overall thing about it is that i could have been easily prevented. nice video!
in fact quite a lot of this is correct but wrongly portrayed; the plant test was the third and final test they had to sign off for the plant to become fully active. the test was wrongfully signed off as succeeding three years earlier so it could become active but they still had to complete the test. The test was to run it on low power for one minute, in which the type of reactor chernobyl used was unstable at. The test was to happen in the afternoon but it was the end of the month, and they were not allowed to power down the plant because all of the factories had to reach their monthly quotas, which would need extra power. The test had to happen past midnight, and at midnight there was a crew change. The new crew had no idea there was a test happening and were all underprepared and were mostly rookies. Now we get scientific. In short, a reactor works because atoms smash into eachother which creates heat, lots of it. which heats water and that turns to steam, which turns turbines. When yiu run a reactor, an element, "Xenon" builds up. Xenon particles are bigger than the fuel particles, which blocks reaction. The plant was not meant to run the test now as it would not work. But Dyatlov, the head engineer and controller was awaiting a promotion after this test was complete. He demanded it to be completed that night because he was experienced and said there was "no danger". They powered down the reactor. They did it slowly, so slowly dyatlov got angry and left the room to have a smoke. Because of the xenon poisoning and other issues with RBMK reactors, the reactivity plummeted. It nearly touched 0, when the test called for 700 units of power. Dyatlov got angry. They stalled the reactor, it wasnt going back up. Under dyatlovs command, they turned off all emergency systems, completely raised the control rods, the thing that stops reaction and stopped water flowing through the core. The reactors power surged because there was nothing stopping it. It soared thousands up, 100s every second. They pressed the scram button -- AZ-5 -- to stop the reaction. The tips of the control rods, however were tipped with graphite. When this reacts with water it super heats and evaporates instantly, a massive release of power. The reactors power soared and the core detonated. The final recorded power of Chernobyls reactor, designed to operate at 3000 units was past 24000.
Chernobyl's control rods din't cause the power surge, the Xenon poison itself did. As the power was raising fast, AZ-5 (A3-5) was activated, lowering rods as fast it tried to (unlike KOM). Reactor 4's explosion was caused at 1:23:45 to 1:23:48, rods were nearly at 50% to get fully inserted. As the first explosion occured, the control room's lights were damaged. Rods were still moving. Second explosion caused the unit's building to explode away. Damaging even the power of the control room, causing a power outage for 10 seconds. (idk if they run on batteries) ye i got bored so i dumped all of this into this comment.
hey uh sorry but you got absolutely everything wrong about the story, how reactors work, and the entire video but i respect u made this, keep up the good work
reactor 1, 2, 3, were safe but the 4th reactor was build other making it dangerous but they dindt say that, also dindt u say what they actually did, they did a shutdown test also did the soviet was also lying about the people turning of the emergency water pumps they said they died but that wasnt (information: dutch documentary)
Chernobyl is just like the backrooms but there’s radiation, It’s like a office building from the Backrooms, You should probably do the *Russian Sleep Expiriment* next.

This video learned me more in 6 minutes and 43 seconds than I learn at 1 hour of history at school.
wait where do you live? I in Ukraine(where is Chernobyl is bombed) and we didnt learn about Chernobyl, only 24 April

Thanks for the explanation. I might make a remastered version of this documentary with more accurate information in the future, so thanks!

There’s something so good of the sound of reactor NO.4 turning off immediately
Bro nice Video! i really like it hope you get more subs
The control room and the reactor hall IS fail built in the video

Are you younger or older than 13 years of age?
how do you make the radiation in the sky?
dang bro nice vid keep it up
Man this video is so underrated =D
This is so good but they didnt use water for a moderator they used graphite.
Greetings 2 year old video
Damn 2 years old already, time flies
I LOVE CHERNOBYL SO MUCH THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO
!!!!!
do you have a discord?
I'm not using it anymore and a recent raid made it unoperational.
How long did this recording session and then the editing take you as it looks like it took a while
It took 2 weeks to produce, record and edit everything
Is it motor locked?
Nothing is motor-locked.

oh god no
1:05 bruh how
why do i get the feeling of it being a college project
Idk why, it’s actually not a college project.
0:59 no chernobly here
1:06 chernobly Spawned at the same road you could've put it some where
Bruh Who cares, he did his best to make this video
Well, there are some things wrong, like the reactor hall, but great!
When Chernobyl exploded in 1986 Ukraine asked america for help but the russians said they didn't need help from the americans when the actually did
Underrated much
Lekker bezig ziet er goed uit
chernobyl looked nothing like this
Great summary of the Chernobyl disaster. I saw the HBO miniseries on this and it’s nice to have a quick review of the main points. Thank you!

yeah no its not a review its good but not close to chernobyl
Wow nice gedaan man!!

Oh my gosh
Hold up. Thats not the way rbmk reactors look like!!
Yoo i came at last 3 secs
tutorial plsss
Tutorial from what?
@@LuchtLeiderNederland he mean tutorial for chernobyl npp
Cool
Ura
Dyatlovs fault
That’s human error, but if the reactor wasn’t severely flawed, Chernobyl wouldn’t happen.
@@LuchtLeiderNederland Then it is Viktor Bryukhanov
@@iembot8104 Still human error.
