Had someone tell me that Angela sounding robotic/devoid of emotion makes sense in the remake because she's depressed/ready to check herself out. I'm not buying that excuse. Either the VA is just that bad at showing emotions via her voice (relying on the Angela's expressions to show how she's feeling) or the voice director really blows at directing the VAs properly. The OG VAs lines may have sounded stilted; but it was intentional to show they were all in a dreamlike state and, even despite that state, each one put on a convincing performance in their voices to show their respective character's mental states in certain scenes (Angela sounding tired/sad in the apartment/Eddie being defensive in the bathroom, Maria switching between being seductive and sweet (when posing as Mary) in the prison, etc). In the remake, based on all the scenes that have been shared thus far, every last one of the VAs sound so flat/lackluster- conveying no emotion in their deliveries to give the player a hint as to how the character is thinking/feeling. No passion, so substance - just bland, all of 'em. The lines also sound rather rushed; like they're trying to hurry through the scene so the story can progress.
