  • In this video Scott Farms is seen strip tilling a field that is going to be planted into cotton for 2018. The are strip tilling with an Unverferth 12 row, 36" Ripper Stripper being pulled with one of their 8370R tractors. This is their main tractor for planting corn and pulling this strip till rig. It is the tractor with the huge set of weights. They also have one of their 8295Rs pulling a disk in front of the strip till rig leveling out the ground.

    8370 wouldn't pull a 16 row. Guy I work for has a 9560r and pulls a 16 row

      I have to disagree with you on the 8370R not pulling one. I've seen it done, but just did not have my camera with me to film it. It is one of my goals for the next planting season to catch the sweet corn planting through harvest.

    We have some strip till rigs up here that are 24 x 30. That is 60 ft wide. They are pull type not 3 pt.

      I've seen some of the larger pull type units on TH-cam. All the ones I've seen that are over 16 rows are not equipped with ripper shanks. Those ripper shanks are what make these types of units hard to pull. I have seen a 24 row Orthman 1trpr up around Cordele, Georgia. I think it was 24 x 30" as well.

    16 row would definitely heavy

    I would hate greasing that one. The fella i worked for had the 8row Unverferth/Planter Combo and he was super Anal bout keeping it greased. It had probably at least 7 or more fittings for each unit not including the planter. Definitely took some time to grease every morning.

      Unverferth has few grease fittings. Everything is "sealed". I'm like you, anything you drag through the dirt needs to be greased daily.

    We ran an 8420 without front duals on a Brigham brothers 12 row strip till, only way to turn was by stepping on the brakes.

    Why not turn while backing up? That would save time stopping and starting extra times.

    Is that common to actually do a complete till process and then strip till? Seems to me like its redundant to strip till on a completely tilled field unless its just for the subsoiling effect

    My brother runs an 8370R pulling an Unferverth 12 row strip-till rig like that, with planters attached, he's running saddle tanks on it, (200 gal cap) each side, and a 300 gallon tank on the front, with the full suitcase of tractor weights on front, it's a monster of a rig. A 12 row Unverferth rig is heavier than a 12 KMC rig.

      Might want to look at my video of Scott Farms 2017 corn planting. I included a link. They have a similar rig they use to plant corn. It is 12 x 30" rip/strip/plant on a KMC bar. th-cam.com/video/w-ktWT_2HFQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching.

      South Georgia Farming , I remember watching that. It's amazing that these tractors can pull this big equipment and not break in half.😂😂

      I noticed the AgPro decal.
      I'm wondering how long before every dealership in the Southeast will belong to just a handful of dealers?
      AgPro, Lasseter, Blanchard, Sun South, Tidewater......

      @@terrellfarms1 , I’ve seen some videos from Florida, some guys are pulling 16 row, 30 strip-till rigs and planters tied together, but they are pulling through sand basically.

  • @chadsmith14

    You can watch the front tires, especially on the first trip headin towards camera. That tractor will be back at deere w a drive shaft dangling where it done broke. Most time the joint by the hub. All the deere s do that when worked hard. Idk y they ain't done fixed that

    • @terrellfarms1
      @terrellfarms1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know if they have had issues with these tractors and the extra weights. I know it is a pile of weights. It is still less than the weight they have with the saddle tanks and this set of weights they run with their 12 row corn planter and strip till bar. Check out my 2017 corn planting video for Scott Farms. Now that is a lot of weight.

    • @chadsmith14
      @chadsmith14 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@terrellfarms1 the weight has some to do with it I'm sure but those independent front ends do ride a little better but are a weaker design. Just like in a truck the straight axle is stronger but the indipendent is a better ride. Most of the farmers I know that have had problems with theirs have had 2000 3000 hrs on them I'm guessing
