    I think Princess Catharina Amalia of the Netherlands looks gorgeous in that blue gown. That blue tiara and dress really works on her.
    BTW, Princess Estelle looks super lovely despite no tiara on her yet. She's just the ray of sunshine. Always smiles and very enthusiastic to engage with people around her. What a lovely princess!

    Princess Estelle´s super-sparkly smiles beat every piece of jewelry, every tiara, every dress. Just amazing to see how happy she was to be there.
    Apart from that, I liked princess Catharina-Amalia and crown princess Victoria´s looks the best. Victoria has an "interesting" taste in clothing for her every-day looks and for most engagements, but when it comes to formal, she knocks it out of the park.

    Lovely to see all the dresses and jewels. The royal family had decided to invite “common” 18 year old men and women from all over Denmark - and all the royals were seated among them.

    • @asbisi
      @asbisi ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Yes! And the 18-year-olds had no idea in advance. Most thought they would be grouped together among themselves. They were very surprised when they were seated among the royals and other dignitaries.
      I think they all had a great time that evening - including the royals, because it was so different.

      In this rough, vulgar and violent era (at least in the United States), I see no reason to make things worse by gratuitous insults about a person’s personal choices.

    This event was quite different to many other grand gala balls at the palace. Usually the crowd invited belong to the top echelons of Danish society.
    In this case, the Palace decided to invite two 18 year olds of each gender from every municipality within the Kingdom of Denmark which also includes Greenland and the Faroe Islands. It was left up to the municipalities to determine how the two lucky teens were picked or chosen. 200young people descended on the palace. An additional 200 were also invited representing very young people in sports and cultural events. A couple participants were handicapped.
    They were all seated at round tables. The young royals of Europe and older royals were seated among the young people. The whole thing was televised except when everyone was eating.

      They need to move forward and be accessible in order for the Monarchy to survived. Danish law already cut off the branches royal and only concentrated on the Main.

      @julianneheindorf5757 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JV-yd4qg they are already highly accessible and participate in many events. The yearly race Royal Run is the brainchild of Crown Prince Frederik. The aim is to promote exercise among the population. Anyone can participate in a 10 k, 5 k or 1,6 k. Every participant who has signed up gets at-shirt. One pays a small fee. The Crown Prince and his family all participate in different runs. It has become a hugely popular event with over a hundred thousand participating and many more as spectators.
      Danish law didn’t cut off anybody in the Royal family. This is a decision that reigns supreme with the Queen. Prince Joachim’s children may not have the titles of prince or princess any longer but they are still heirs to the throne.

    • @julianneheindorf5757
      @julianneheindorf5757 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There was an important difference in the two events. When Crown Prince Frederik turned 18, he was already the Crown Prince. From that point on if something happened to his mom, he would be the new king. Thus his birthday was quite a bit more formal than Christian’s as reps for all official governmental institutions in Denmark participated.
      The palace had the opportunity to do things differently for Prince Christian as he is the heir to the throne but not the Crown Prince yet. Crown Prince Frederik was not happy about several of the things that took place at his 18th. birthday and as expressed publicly that he wanted something different for his son.
      The whole event was televised and it was fun watching all these young people meet and greet the Royal family.

    The Boucheron Peal Tiara that Princess Ingrid Alexandra was wearing is her personal property. I read an article by Trond Noren Isaksen who stated that the tiara had been inherited by the three children of the late Princess Ragnhild, and that they gifted it to Princess Ingrid Alexandra on her 18th birthday celebration in 2022. There is still the question of Queen Maud's Diamond tiara that was also inherited by Princess Ragnhild and which hasn't been seen in decades.

      Prince Christian is as tall as the last king named Christian. His great great grandfather Christian the tenth. The linage goes Christian X, his son Frederik IX, granddaughter Margrethe II and great grandson Frederik who will become Frederik X.
      Since King Christian I in 1449, every king has been named either Christian or Frederik in Denmark. However, Christian I eldest son was named Hans and only after him were kings named Frederik. But this meant that the Frederiks were always one number behind the Christians. So King Frederik IX and his daughter Margrethe decided to rectify the situation by naming her eldest son Frederik. When Crown Prince Frederik’s eldest son was born, there was almost a public demand that he be named Christian. His younger brother, Prince Vincent also has the name Frederik.
      In earlier times only sons could inherit the throne. This was changed in 1953 to include daughters if there were no sons. In 2009, the law was changed again. The eldest child, regardless of gender is the heir to the throne. So if something bad were to happen to Prince Christian his sister Princess Isabella would be out next queen not the younger brother, Prince Vincent.
      Sweden had similar changes. That is why Crown Princess Victoria as the eldest child will become the Queen of Sweden and she will be followed by her daughter, Princess Estelle in spite of the fact that both have younger brothers.

    About Ingrid Alexandra’s tiara.
    When Princess Ingeborg died, her granddaughter, and King Harald’s eldest sister, Princess Ranghild inherited the tiara. When she died, she wanted it to be Ingrid Alexandra’s gift for her 18th birthday. A very nice gesture from Princess Ragnhild and her family.
    The Tiara is with other words Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s very own tiara.

    Hello. Everyone in this charming gala looked gorgeous. The young ladies, the birthday lad celebrating being 18, and the rest of his guests. But, the best looking in the party, personal preference, of course, was the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, mother of the birthday boy, and the young Princess Estelle of Sweden. Princess Mary’s dress looked exquisitely beautiful in her silhouette, even though I don’t really like shoulder less or even strapless dresses very much. The midnight blue color enhanced her skin color and her dark hair, and her tiara looked just fine as a compliment on her hair. On the other hand, the youngest lady at least that I saw on your video, Princess Estelle, looked very age appropriate on the beautiful pastel dress she wore, and the best complement was her beautiful innocent, full of hope face. She looked just great.
    Beautiful and interesting video. Best.🌼

    Just for your info. The son of Princess Benedicte and hid now wife, they had no child while they were only dating because it would be born out of wedlock. So it could not inherit the title and other inheritance... Princess Ingrid Alexandra's tiara was not purchased for her but was given to her by children of late Prinxess Rabghilde whom wrote her will and it was m3ntioned there.

    I think it's not fair for someone to have to choose between love and their royal inheritance and place in history. Several couples had to wait years to marry someone who was not approved by the parents. If they were patient, love won, but many royals gave up and married someone to avoid losing their place in the line of succession (e.g. the Prince of Monaco who had a long relationship with a black lady and even had a child with her).

    Totally with you on Cr Princess Mary getting the best gown/best overall look at her eldest child’s 18th birthday gala! So nice to see all these future Queens Regnant in attendance (afterall they are all cousins!) have there ever been this many as most European houses have adopted Absolute Primogeniture in the girls’ favor!!! One of them should snap up my fave Dane, Count Felix of Monzepat so he can be elevated back to his regal Princely Stature!!! I hope the person who left the Cinderella slipper was NOT that girl from Bourbon Two Sicilies who keeps trying WAY TO HARD to insinuate herself into Prince Christian’s circle. Ughhhh…trying to hard yet again?!!! Great insights on this one!

    Crown Princess Mary will look even more sensational once she is elevated To Queen Consort of Denmark and then she will be able to wear Queen Margrethe’s heavy-hitting tiaras, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets that are currently reserved only for the sovereign. The emerald parure comes to mind as it’s a set of faceted, very high-quality emeralds and diamonds that would show off beautifully with her coloring. Also in the crown jewels’ is the diamond parure which is quite exquisite and very vwluable. Plus the queen inherited a great many pieces, many from Russia, which are very impressive and these pieces sit in the queen’s personal collection. Perhaps you’ve seen the Queen wearing a large beautiful dark blue sapphire necklace with large cushion cut sapphires, very fine stones, surrounded by diamonds and all hung on an adjustable chain where it can go from choker length to near opera length. Bottom line, there are many more baubles sitting in Daisy’s safe that will undoubtably be inherited by Crown Princess Mary.

    • @julianneheindorf5757
      @julianneheindorf5757 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s more likely that they will be inherited by Crown Prince Frederik, not his wife although she will be the one to wear them. Her grandkids, especially her granddaughters will most likely inherit some of her jewelry, while some pieces will remain in the hands of the sovereign whoever that may be in the future after Prince Christian. The Crown Jewels are the property of the state and only the queen can borrow and use them. They are never taken abroad on state visits. Whether Mary will use them when she becomes queen remains to be seen.

    • @Roholi
      @Roholi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@julianneheindorf5757 Yes, you are correct and I agree with everything you said. Yes, technically it will be Frederik who inherits the vast majority of Margrethe’s estate along with most of her personal jewelry though she can (and I’m sure will) leave other pieces to Joachim and/or her grandchildren. Remember, Queen Ingrid left the ruby parure to Frederik and various tiaras and other jewels to her other daughters. You know that Mary will wear the Crown Jewels. It would be expected of her and that’s why they exist, to be worn by the Queen.

      @@julianneheindorf5757The Emerald tiara that Roholi mentioned, is however not the property of any royal. It's part of the Crown Jewel collection and therefore is owned by the State. It is also the only tiara in the Danish Crown jewel collection.

    If you have a title, only legitimate children (born after the wedding) can inherit the titles. That explains why Princess Karine didn't have children out of wedlock. People can emphasize with couples who use surrogacy due to their age and the obstacles in their love story due to the risk of losing his inheritance if he didn't marry someone his family approved.

    You are mistaken about the bracelets of the Princess of Orange. She is not wearing the bracelets of Queen Emma's Sapphire set but the bracelets of the diamond and sapphire wedding gift set of Queen Wilhelmina. They have been altered slightly but are of a very different design than the ones of Queen Emma. The Dutch collection has two sets of two diamond and sapphire bracelets. Btw the Princess of Orange wore Manolo Blahnik shoes: the same shoes Carrie Bradshaw got for her wedding to mr Big.

    The necklace crown Princess Victoria is wearing isn’t the Connaught scarab necklace(the necklace which the voice over refers to is made up of multiple multicolored scarabs falling down a straight line from the base of the wearer’s throat down to the middle of their chest)
    The necklace she’s wearing is actually queen Josephine’s stomacher in it’s necklace form. Unlike the scarab necklace It was not privately owned by Princess Lillian but it was one of her favorites to wear because she thought it matched well with the laurel wreath(similar to how Victoria wore the two pieces here)

    • @jonasviking9768
      @jonasviking9768 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great comment! I pointed that out and got a rather short and strange response pointing to an other creator “the court jeweler”(who by the way had the correct name for the necklace). Brittany further explained that she referred to the style of the piece rather than the name of the necklace. If she didn’t say scarab the only other word I can guess she is saying is scabbard, but I cannot for the life of me understand how “a sheath for the blade of a sword or dagger” explain the style of the necklace.

    The royal families often tend to discuss and match eachother for these types of events, I highly doubt that there was an official color theme and if there was it would be very strange that they’d gone with blue considering typically red is the color of Denmark while blue is for Sweden(and while the royals are related and the countries are now on good terms Sweden and Denmark remains to this day the two countries with most wars fought against eachother)

  • @D_Lodberg
    @D_Lodberg ปีที่แล้ว +3

    1. It is not dark blue but royal blue.
    2. These are mostly ordinary 18-year-olds from the entire Danish kingdom (incl. Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the Danish minority in Northern Germany)
    3. Prince Gustav could not have a child until he was legally married because only those born within legal marriage can be approved as heir. So that is why they have only now been able to have children.
    4. The Greek family are also Danish princes and princesses because of the Danish Prince Wilhelm (later King Georg I of Greece, he had it written in that all his descendants should retain their Danish princes and princesses titles)

      I highly doubt that. He is related to all of the Princesses who were at the party, and even if they weren't, royal protocol prohibits an immediate heir to the throne of marrying another immediate heir. All the foreign Princess in attendance, are future Queens. And there's an unspoken rule in the Danish royal family, that they must find a bride outside Denmark's borders. The last Danish King to marry a Dane, was King Frederik the VII 200 years ago.
