I miss Benson. I wish we could have watched the character age along with Robert Guillaume. It would have been interesting to see him evolve through the years. And how he would have reacted to the tragedy in our white house right now.

I certainly have a notion to second that emotion. A truly gifted performer & class act all the way.

I agree, I MISS BENSON. It was a great show. Benson MADE the show and Inga added a dimension that enabled his character.

Fun fact: Robert Guillaume was part of a folk trio "The Pilgrims" that put out an LP 'Just Arrived' in the 60's for Columbia Records. A then unknown songwriter recorded a demo of a song meant for the Pilgrims but when the producer heard the songwriter and his partner sing it in person he gave them a contract and had them record it themselves. The songwriter and his partner were Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and the song was 'The Sound Of Silence'.

He nailed that role. I loved that school growing up in 70s and 80s.

The Benson character has always been a role model for me. The dry Wit, the confidence and him being his own man, was always what I wanted to be.

It's interesting the way he states that he was not prepared for an "idea."
Sometimes it does take a few years.

I can understand where he was coming from when he said that. At the same time, however, he was right that it would have resulted in some intriguing story lines. I remember when later episodes were suggesting it and wanting to see it develop. I'm sure that a lot of other viewers had the same thought. Of course, regrettably, it wouldn't have gone over all that well in certain parts of the country for some of the very reasons he mentioned. More's the pity!
