"This composition was written in the 70's and was featured with the Woody Herman Band." He's so humble that he doesn't take credit for being the composer or the performer for which he was both. 😄😄😄
I've watched so many performances of Allen Vizzutti playing this song and I definitely think this is his best ending trumpet solo! So much humor and creativity compared to his other versions, love it!
American Penguin I disagree with this being his best performance of Firedance. The showmanship was a cover when he made a couple of errors going for ridiculously high notes. Of course the fact that he can even hit those notes were a credit to his virtuosity. The best one to me was the one in 77 with the Woody Herman band. I can’t always find that performance with the video.
Wanna know why Allen offers Fire Dance as a free download on his website? NO one else can play that ding-dang HIGH and long!!!! I'm out of breath and my chops hurt every time hear this fantastic invention of Allen's!!
f@ckin monster!! especiallty coming of the G#and re-setting for the Eb,,,, wow that blew my head!! makes it look easy! To top it all off he's one the nicest cat's u will ever meet!!
Has anyone noticed that Allen has a habit of slightly if at all adjusting his tuning slide. I think it’s a nervous habit he does. Not really adjusting his intonation.
I always like the ridiculous disparaging comments by trumpet players who say they wouldn't or shouldn't even try after listening to this. Think "guitar shredding" thousands of guys can shred. So why can't you do this? (i.e. too lazy to practice)
This comment is insanely old; but here's the deal. There's maybe 5 people in the world who could attempt this. It's not just 'guitar shredding' on trumpet. We aren't being the average annoying self-deprecating people. This is literally the hardest jazz solo for trumpet written. Hands down. At least, I've never heard one that even came close.

Vizzutti was feeling it that night bros. Best performance I've seen him give.
fun to see him stare at his trumpet every time he pulls it off, it's like "good job, buddy" :D Fantastic player
*tear* highlands memories.
it was a real honor getting to work with mr. vizzutti
Hope he comes back to Hawaii

I played on that stage a few years ago!!! That is so cool to say I've performed where he's performed.

I think he needs to improve on his technique a little!! j/k Wow! So much talent. His sound is so solid! Thanks for posting!
Yeah, if he keeps practicing, he could be something some day LOL (JK) - Wow! what a talent!! :)

Yeah I know who I am talking about! I was being sarcastic. Didn't you see the "j/k"? He is a monster player that I totally respect!
I've never heard him do this without the usual clams.........maybe he should practice more!!
springers totally on guitar, not bass.
