For everyone making bigs 2k hides rebound animation thresholds. Last year I found them to be at every flat 10 rating (60, 70, 80 etc). I had 2 6’11s last year with the same rebounding badges but one had a 71 o reb and the other had a 90 (both had a 94 d reb). I thought the gold rebound chaser and hof boxout would make up for the low o reb but it was absolute trash I couldn’t box out and my player would barely jump for the ball, then he would get these Superman defensive rebounds. In the builder I remember it saying rebound and vertical unlock “rebound content” which I took to mean animations so I tried it and found that you really get those snag animations from having a high rebound and vert. 80 would be good 90 would be elite 99 felt the same as 90 but you just got hof rebound chaser. The rebound chaser badge in my experience just gives you the lunge animations to cover more ground. Boxouts and worms are based on rebound and strength and boxout beast helps but if u have 1 rebound rating lower, the hof boxout will not save you. So I remade the build and he was a monster with the double 90 reb. I was getting a super aggressive snag almost every single play as long as I was somewhere near the hoop. I’m making a big soon and I’m definitely getting both my rebound ratings above 90.

Depends on height tbh, I have 92 Defensive rebound and 60 offensive rebound, but a 79 vertical, I'm 7'1 but get offensive boards over 6'10-6'11 Centers that run double 92s
@@ryananderson59 Both builds had an 85 vert. Definitely go at least 80 but i do l vouch for 85. Anything above 90 is overkill
I have two 6’10 bigs with 92 D board, but one has 80 vert and a be has 60 vert. And I be getting the same rebound animations for both including high jumping snag rebounds on the 60 vert one. So personally from my experience, I don’t think vert effects rebounds at all

I think something still underrated by the community is boxing your man out. Even if you yourself don’t get the board it makes a world of a difference. You don’t NEED a 90+ rebounds you just have to play to your strengths and actively be thinking what’s keeping you from the rebound. Some games it’s just easy getting boards clunking off the rim and some games your opponent literally is only there for rebounds and will ultra focus on boxing you out and tricking you into contesting so they can get a board. That’s when you need to counteract and be a step ahead. Box his ass out keep fighting for position like you would in real life and I promise you’ll see and feel a change in your play.
Yeah boxing out plays a key roll. I sometimes get put as the center with my 6’9 PF 83 rebound silver box out, 86 strength, 80 vert. My box out game did justice to compete with the other center. win 75% to 80% of the time.
except when dude is just throwing you out the way or your team needs boards where you can't always box out like in a pnr
@@perfectgematriadecodesabc4259 true I mean there’s no guaranteed way to get every single board but you’ll at least fight for that rebound and give your team a chance. Even when that guy throws you it’s a animation it takes time which means the other teammate should take advantage and also go for the rebound. Similar to real life rebounding is a team effort

You wouldn't believe the amount of players that just don't box out and they man be lunging for rebound time and time again. You don't even need rebound or strength just click the l2 button!
@@paddymccabe1338 facts it’s supposed to mimic real life which people forget that’s what the game is made to do. Even Steph curry small ass will box out for draymond instead of taking off for the races after every shot

I'm a SF, that has been a really good rebounder the last 3/4 2k games. I usually only have bronze or silver rebound chaser(rating high 70s and low 80s) but boxing out is really key, I get boards over big men with high 90s all the time. It's all about timing, boxing out and knowing where the rebound is coming from.
Same , 6'7" SF averaging 8.4 rebounds a game in rec. definetley timing matters alot and boxing

Post fade is a midrange attribute (perimeter). However, I wonder why I got challenger to activate when I contested a post hook since post hook is considered a close shot.

If the player attempts a hook shot outside of the painted area, it’s considered a perimeter shot.
This applies to Hook shots and Floaters.
My guess is that the person you are defending had attempted a deeper hook shot, so challenger activated
please consider testing how height affects jumpshot contest. community is saying that shorter guards get contested way more than bigger guards but how big is the difference. thank you for the vids

My friend is a casual 2k player and he grabs 20 to 35 rebounds every game on Rec w/ 99 rebounding/HOF rebound chaser. It's great
boxout beast badge and vert/str are just as important for rebounds imo
Rebound Chaser doesn't just improve your rebounding range and animations; 2K decides who is the 'destined' rebounder as soon as the shot goes up. You'll know when you aren't it because you get the weak, lazy rebound animation OR you get butterfingers. Rebound Chaser increases the odds of the ball coming towards you and grabbing the rebound even in contested situations.
Aerial Wizard also does this as well. It indirectly helps offensive rebounding since it is used to boost putbacks. You need an offensive rebound to get a putback right?
I swear my center will jump 2 inches of the ground or flop his hands up without jumping... even if I get in postion🤦🏾♂️
You hit the nail on the head, i feel like the rebound is also predetermined. Because sometimes i have great position and the ball is in front of me, and someone else jumps out of no where to grab it. My player barely jumps that is soo annoying

I have 85 def rebound and 70 off rebound and I get like 20 rebounds a game in MyCareer. I think the next test should be on Boxout Beast cause that's a very important badge that also correlates with your rebound ratings.
Should I go with 85 offensive and 70 defensive for my 7'0 of with 7'9 wingspan? I think the defensive rebound is too low but I also think that 90 strength and gold box out would make up for it. I would flip it and go 85 defensive but that costs more which I can't afford
Get 95 strength for hof immovable enforcer and 93 off reb for box out beast hof and reb chaser gold bro its worth it

Hof immovable enforcer is groundbreaking on my 6'9 melo build. I be protecting the paint with a 25 interior 😭. Wondering if gold immovable enforcer is any good too

What’s your vert and speed difference lol. That’s makes a lot of difference too so don’t base it solely on rebound chaser.
And strength and boxout badge both have major impacts on rebound success

I'd love to see dimer/other passing badge stats. Made a 98 pass acc PG before you posted the pass acc video, and really hoping the hof badges are a big improvement over gold since the speed of the pass doesn't increase after 90
Bro who tf puts 98 into pass accuracy, that’s so beyond unnecessary. Plus 2k labs or maybe even this guy posted a video saying that pass speed has a hard cap at like 91 pass accuracy

@@AJ7898 maybe if you actually read my entire comment, you would see I made the build before the pass speed video came out. And I'm naturally a pass first pg so I made a build that matches my play style instead of making some basic "meta" build like everyone else. I wanted hof dimer/needle threader ect, and I'm having an absolute blast with the build.

Tutes. I have a GREAT video idea. Essentially you are testing if badges/attributes effect the where the rebound goes. You would think that where the rebound goes should be random, but we never know what 2k really does under the hood. To test this, you can first shoot 100 shots and see how many go left/right. Then do it again with 2 players, one on the left and one on the right. The left would have a high rebound attribute and/or badge. And see how many rebounds go left vs right. I don’t think anyone has tested for this before but it is a good idea.

that's really a great idea! I had something like that before but it was a bit different I only tested the randomness of positions where the ball will bounce off but not involving any players on the side. I'll see what I can do about this. THanks
The release timing probably affects whether the shot is short or long. He might have to take 100 early, 100 slightly early, 100 slightly late etc. In each of the hot zones on the 3pt line.

It’s not good I have 2 builds with a 99 o rebound and84 defense rebound and have one with a 92 d board and 60 o rebound and when I tell you I can get offense rebounds I’ll be in position and they’re boxed and they get it every time all builds 7’0 if I was to make another big would just make O board and D board 95 or 92 each instead of 99 for a more balanced rebound HOF rebounder is overrated

I’d try to get 93 for HOF box out. Don’t listen to people who say you don’t need it to box out. I’ve had a build without it and I got wormed a lot.

I have been having issues with close-shot rating. I have made a couple of Center builds in NBA 2k24 and all of them have at least a 90 Standing Dunk, 92 Post Control, none of them have any 3pt and the highest mid-range is a 59. Between 3 of the center builds, the things that vary are the close-shot, layup and dunk ratings.
Examples:
A 90 Close Shot rating with a high post control is suppose to give you Post Fade Phenom on Gold yet, I can not get a green window on any of my post fades. Post Fade Phenom is an A tier badge and I can not get it to activate due to a bug that won't get me a green window, unless I have over a 60 mid range. Yet, I am able to post hooks from the freethrow line with no mid-range rating?
Another issue is even with HOF Pro-Touch, HOF Dream Shake, Gold Masher, and Gold Dropstepper, I still struggle to make close contested shots with a 90 Close Shot rating. Yet the same shots with another build that has a high 70s layup and low close shot is able to score. The issue here isn't the green window but that by the time I am holding my right stick in a direction to attempt the shot, the shot meter is already ending and I have a millisecond to release to early and pump fake or miss the green window completely. Could be a latency issue but I don't think so.

We’ll post fading is mid range so it makes sense you can’t make them with a 58 middy. Also pro touch is inane. I have can green 90% of driving Layups on my 68 layup build. With my 91 magic Johnson Build I cant miss a single layup with HOF pro touch
Fade works with mid range, hook works with close shot, and the main badge for hook is "hook specialist". The 2k confused a lot of people, because Post fade Phenom needs a close shot or mid range, maybe the fade works inside the paint with a close shot, or 2k did it on purpose so you don't need to level up 2 attributes in an exaggerated way, since if you have a high close shot and medium mid range, (or the other way around) you would already get the upgraded badge
