Agree 100% with Naomi on every topic, Brave all the way, Signal, GrapheneOS and Proton. Bookmarking this for all my friends/family when they won't listen to me LOL.
Honestly, this is the best interview you've done so far David. I love all the wireshark, the deep dives, and actual hackers, but this is great for beginners to open their eyes to how easy it is to get back some privacy.
I remember something someone told me a while back with respect to the whole argument of "I'm not doing anything wrong, what do I have to hide?". Its a bit vulgar but "Are you intimate with your significant other in a place where everyone can watch? Why not? What do you have to hide? Having privacy doesn't mean you are doing something wrong".
Worth remembering that TOR has a lot of nodes owned by government/s. It was developed by the American government for their military from what I remember?
15:59 This is true. Crucial services I need will only allow chrome or edge. Those privacy tools on the more private browsers are what makes them 'incompatible'. when they say Incomplete, they mean 'we cannot see your secrets'
Very interesting video. I recommend that you interview either an attorney or a prosecutor regarding how data is collected by governments. This also goes for protonmail and vpn services. Most cases where data is collected will never be released to the public since the perpetrators are either atp or groups like revil for example.
I see a picture of Edward Snowden on Naomi's wall, so I thought it would be fitting to quote him here, especially since you started the conversation making the point about people saying they have nothing to hide, and why bother to advocate privacy: 'Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say'.
Thank you my friend I really appreciate all the content you provide, I literally hang out for your videos every day , cannot express how much you have help me get a better understanding of things, especially as I’m going through my studies to enter cyber sec as a career not just a passion. Never stop my friend!
i do very much agree. it is a hard to remain private. staying away from social media services in a era of technology has enumerated a number of problems but they are far less than the problems I had when I was using social medias. Thank you I very much enjoyed the chit chat
It is tough, "if you give it up" 2FA is good at security, but the problem is how many companies now have my phone number i wouldn't usually give out?? I just gob by a strong password... if it may not be 2FA but my number is safe.
I enjoy these so much David, they're like a gift that keeps giving 😁 I'm always playing them in the background at home, in the car, while working...wherever. Seriously these bolster knowledge in everyone and I always learn something new from your video's. Great work 👏
Another great show, this is the 2nd lady you bring to the show and both of them were great. Subscribed to both the same instant. Thanks for bringing all this great content to us.
With your videos I always say, Im not gonna go through the whole video and watch just certain timestamps. I always end up watching the whole thing. Amazing video! And that lady just got a new subscriber and stalker LOL
I notice tracking from every direction I can't find energy to make the next valuable private more sense of problem with sharing users data. it is a huge problem and one of my own and thank you for the content you sharing with us .
I’ve given up. The fingerprinting they use is insane and using a vpn, brave, etc are useless there are too many ways too fingerprint someone and collect data. The only ways is to not use these service’s and software period that collect information. I try my best like she says though but here I am using TH-cam though.
This is one cool chica. We need more people like this in the world:) For me privacy is about freedom of mind. Freedom of choice... I went on an advertisement abstinence a while back. In which, I committed to not witness an advertisement for 1 solid year. I learned a lot. You see, I already knew ads were doing things to our brains, but when you actually walk the walk you learn much more. One result is : I can articulate why they no bueno. The short of it is : Adverts program the mind and change peoples basic seek & reward behaviors/habits. This not only chips away at our basic freedom, but it also modifies how people navigate their lives. Problems are solved by monetary means. Ads reduce the amount of effort people are willing to put forth to make their lives "their own." They modify how people assign value to things. The seeking behaviors being reduced is probably the biggest thing to be concerned about. I can ask a simple question to exemplify this >> When was the last time you sought music which was new to you. Music which is a new genre. Something you've never heard before. Did you succeed ? How long did you try ? For those people who actually *have* sought this >> How did you get there ? Was it from recommended ? Was it from a curation(like editors picks) ? Here is an exercise you can do to expand your music universe : Go on to bandcamp or soundcloud and search for words or make up song names. Random words or things on your mind. Keep listening to new stuff on that search result until you find something cool... There are so many evils which have arisen from ads that I have lost sight of the benefits they were created for. They are literally turning peoples brains to mush. Affecting peoples dietary choices and ultimately their health. Think about it. One cool result of my advertisement abstinence stint was a peace in my mind. A peace of mind. A peace which is typical of meditation. It was beautiful. Privacy is bigger than persecution.
One of the best interviews I've ever watched! And of great public utility. I didn't even notice time passing. Several important tips! Thank you both very much :)
I was about to go to bed and thought why not just scroll through TH-cam first. Now I am downloading brave, signal, checking out proton vpn and email 😂. You got me good

Love it. I believe it was the BEST interview I've ever seen. Very helpful and educational. I really love your interviews in general, You ask a question and actually let the people talk ! I love it ! I found your channel a while ago and day after day i falling in love with your content. You are the only youtube channel i can actually watch their content for an hour straight. On 1:00:15 you said that "we will have to get you back for extreme privacy stuff". YES PLEASE.
Brilliant interview idea David, and thanks so much Naomi. I appreciate you enormously. I thought I was pretty well up to speed on this stuff but I'd totally missed Graphene and had no idea that Swiss law was so good for VPNs! I'm now very tempted to try routing all my network traffic through Proton... ♥️
Even the navy and intelligence agencies used TOR to keep their sources protected way back. I don’t know if they do any more but it gave them a secure way to contact their operatives.
Yet another amazing guest. Thank you both for this video. Very valuable lessons. Looking forward to seeing more interviews from Naomi. Definitely going to follow her channel.
Most importantly thank you for this new way of journalism. 2 I wonder if you can calculate when and if your content is being suppressed on 3rd party websites ( youtube). 3 does anyone have a good list of tech breakdowns? regardless if it is good forum pages, legal computer laws, hardware stuff, time management, etc. ugh so much to learn let's get networking.
Internet privacy/anonymity is a double-edged sword. If you would ever come under investigation for some reason and you have little to no digital footprint, you will stand out like a clown at a funeral. For every measure you take to hide yourself you shuld also do something else to look completely normal and boring.
****Ripped all the audio from all the videos you both done. Virtual mapped the face expressions and body languages. I can now use it to create my own movies. Thank you for your service, but you're no longer needed now. Sincerely, A.I.
Excellent clear - IAgree … what worries me is forced consent to load advertising cookies - the lack of another use or option that excludes advertising cookies ( I call these cookies trojans! )
Hello David! What is your opinion on Decentralized VPN services like Sentinel, Deeper Network and Mysterium? Thank you for all your content, and for the changes to the channel. Great improvements!
Google Chrome ties itself into everything in your OS ! Use it for a few days and then open the chrome portion of your APP Data folder.. It is HUGE and EVERYWHERE ! I only use Chrome in a virtual machine. Install it and immediately save the machine state. Then do not save the machine state again and it stops a lot of chromes garbage from increasing.
I am waiting for the moment when, for example, the voice activation of lights in the house will be considered evidence in court. Such information is also saved on Alexa or Google Home servers. Both services intelligently distinguish who gave the command to turn on the lights. The geolocation itself based on the car navigation system is slowly showing up as circumstantial evidence. Watching TH-cam videos about hacking also looks bad for jurors. Just wait until this data collected by large Metadata business owners is used against clients.
Ya I’m gonna use the tor browser for all my web searches also you mentioned brave browser? What would you recommend an also for the settings in brave ? What’s the best settings for it ? 😊I do like tor browser and brave browser
Yes you are absolutely right! It is unacceptable when your correspondence or files can be seen by someone, so it is safer to use the decentralized ecosystem Utopia p2p to communicate.
Switching to Brave browser was by far the best internet privacy advice I've been given so far. Thank you for the episode David! And thank you, Naomi, for sharing your knowledge! You made my day today guys!
Let's take a look at setting up, maintaining & operating a Personal Private Social Network - encrypted iN & Out Coms w/ Secure Log-In, something like "Locals" is setup but controlled on and thru my bare metal network. I'd prefer to connect in this way in the future to known Resources like you guys, even with a small fee. Using YT & Others as a Jump OFF the Grid iNto Your Kinda place UNTRACKED, if yet only for a Moment.
For cloud storage, I use both Dropbox and OneDrive via Boxcryptor. Truth is Dropbox integrates the easiest into more 3rd party 'stuff' that makes it easy, and OneDrive is just effortless to use within the Microsoft ecosystem. I make sure I don't save personally sensitive stuff in them. For my small side-gig one-man business, I use the 'team' tier of Egnyte. Also through Boxcryptor. The major flaw in my game is that I'm still a HUGE Chrome user.. Gotta change that…
It is kind of funny & ironic too that the Google privacy aspect complaint is being made on a Google asset TH-cam as well. If there was something sinister going on this TH-cam video should cease to exist soon. But that is not going to happen. Maybe a special code to withhold the best search results from Naomi? That could most certainly happen. That would be some targeted work for you😊

David, what have you done? Wow you made my weekend with that great interview. Amazing and very informative video. Thank you and Naomi. You are awesome 😎
Hey david , I want to ask a question related to "How to be a master programmer"?
I have some points in my mind but would I like an experienced programmer like u to point out the wrong thing and as well add additional steps if they exist...
Learn a programming language
Make a project
Try open-source contributions
Show your project and contributions socially (Learn in public)
Learn Dsa and practice questions regularly
Keep applying for jobs and improving profile and resume.
She awesome... One of the best guests yet...!!!
Wow...that's a superb 1 hour I had enjoyed and learned... kudos to both of u to unpack these jewels with us
No matter what you can not truly hide if they really want to find you....encryption is only temporary....tor or vpn or a combo of both won't hide you if the gov wants you. Even with these tools....you are trackable...more difficult but doable with time
With regard to privacy focused messaging apps: Session > Signal

4k David and 360p Naomi...
Nice and informative video nonetheless! Love it!
Sorry about that. I'm working on a solution.
360p it's better for privacy
I like this vid. Good insight. My privacy was previously exposed to Naomi Brockwell and I am holding her totally responsible..
Excellent clear - IAgree … what worries me is forced consent to load advertising cookies - the lack of another use or option that excludes advertising cookies ( I call these cookies trojans! )
Thank you David ! Thank you Naomi ! That's a lot of interesting informations !
Pixel is google. I’m confused
GREAT SHOW!
So scary and annoying how these companies are getting away with this.
Privacy is a right!
Then do not save the machine state again and it stops a lot of chromes garbage from increasing.
totally agree, but i find this a somewhat juvenile complaint, i mean we need to go much deeper and much more to the point
Thanks a lot! You did not mention Tresorit, was it on purpose?
she can speak all day great educated video David👍
I am waiting for the moment when, for example, the voice activation of lights in the house will be considered evidence in court. Such information is also saved on Alexa or Google Home servers. Both services intelligently distinguish who gave the command to turn on the lights. The geolocation itself based on the car navigation system is slowly showing up as circumstantial evidence. Watching TH-cam videos about hacking also looks bad for jurors. Just wait until this data collected by large Metadata business owners is used against clients.
I am privacy-conscious so I don't hide from the government. I just know I'm being watched and I act accordingly.
BRAVOO...ALL SAID HERE IS AMEZINGLY FANTASTIC.....!!!!!!!
Switching to Brave browser was by far the best internet privacy advice I've been given so far.
Thank you for the episode David!
And thank you, Naomi, for sharing your knowledge! You made my day today guys!
GREAT SHOES tells all…Naomi wears Keds on Sundays. 😀
Thank you for good video and about messaging apps - what about Briar?
Wow this was an awesome 1hr video with really great examples.makes you think. Have not dotted and ticked all the options just a few
Thanks for the invaluable information 👍 👍
Any of these videos cover discord? Any positives and negatives of using it for communication?
That's the new answer to people who don't worry about privacy.
Give me your Google password.
