You can fix the blinker issue by adding some diodes and an extra ground wire to your lighting harnesses. Attach a ground wire and run it to the negative of all the LED lights. Then put a 12v diode on each of the old wires and connect them to the positive of the LEDs. If you want the blinker to dim and brighten when the running lights are on attach a 300-500ohm resistor with the diode on the line that gets 12v when the parking lights are on.
Love the chrome grill. I have one on my flame red 04 TJ. It's the only chrome on my Jeep besides my wheel center caps... everything else is red and black. I agree, it's a throwback to the old CJ's and I think they are cool.
I like the look of this front end. I would leave the chrome grill, black out the headlight rings and run LED headlights in a black housing. But it’s your Jeep so show it how you see fit.
Beam tech makes led bubs that are cheap and easy. Plan to use themon my tj in the next few months. They made a huge difference on my f350 with the same bulb as the oem jk bub
Well I say the Chrome looks awesome! I'm doing a retro theme on my LJ build and plan on putting LED Amber Fogs in the turn signal location on the grille similar to what you did, to get the look but use them for aux lighting. Then add some small marker lights somewhere on the fenders for turn signals. And yes I too bought a used chrome grille which is already installed, now to get to work on my CJ tailgate swap!
Sounds like a cool build! I’m on the fence about putting a CJ tailgate on mine - like the look but haven’t decided if it’s worth the inconvenience of making it more difficult to reach things on the forward end of the rear cargo area, since I don’t run a back seat
I bought the weather pack connectors in bulk from Waytek Wire because I use a lot of them, but you can find similar connector assortments available on ebay that the sellers have assembled from bulk kits (from a place like Waytek). If I remember correctly the crimper is a ratcheting crimper made by OTC. I highly recommend using a ratcheting crimper but you can probably find cheaper ones on amazon made by other manufacturers.
Muddy Beards 4x4 has a video showing how to cut the existing relay to slow LED flash speed. Super simple and no need to spend money on a new relay. th-cam.com/video/aL4mXRQM4RI/w-d-xo.html I recommend H4 headlights for a TJ. Cheap, bright 6000k white light and a non-sealed housing. I'm definately not a chrome fan but that chrome grill does look spiffy. Once you mentioned CJ, I could see it. You're quite correct. An idea for contrast: paint the headlight bezels black. I think that would make things "pop" up front.
Cool, thanks for sharing that link, hopefully it will help someone else out. I’ll definitely look into the H4s. And I did almost plastidip the bezels black while doing the grille swap but didn’t get around to it, so maybe at some point!
@@dironaa Just spray paint them if you do it. No need for the time and effort of plastidip. The bezel sees so little grit/grime and road debris that a simple 2x coat of your favourite cheap paint will do the trick. It'd add a nice contrast/highlight to the chrome. H4s would be my choice. Bright, legal, stock-looking and inexpensive. The best of all worlds.
@@dironaa Watched your TJ "shakedown" run vid last night that was pre-fenders and grill. Looking at the way the stock chrome bezels accent against the black grill gives a perfect example of how it would look with black bezels against chrome. I hate chrome but after seeing these vids, I'm stealing the idea and doing the chrome grill, black bezels to my black LJ.😉
@@Maxxis1941 Good observation, I rewatched it and agree with you. I'll have to wait until the weather warms up in the spring to paint mine. Glad theres at least one other chrome grill convert out there! Haha
I can understand you liking the chrome thing- my one and only purely cosmetic indulgence on my TJ is a set of angry eyes that most other Jeepers make fun of.
Very cool. I remember when the angry eyes first started making an appearance and it seemed everyone wanted them. It’s funny how quickly public opinion can change.

Thanks for the info, I may eventually try to do this

I love the chrome grill on the blacked out Jeep
It’s a great accent piece!

Might have to do that, sounds like a good look. Thanks for the input!
The chrome grill on my YJ gets lots of compliments. Nice choice!
It’s a classic look!
Looks nice. Your Jeep, put chrome on it if you want!
Thanks!
Keep up the great work, you are one of the hardest working folks I know!
Thank you! Will do!

I’ll check them out, thanks!
Nicely done. I've been following your budget build from the beginning. Keep up the great work.
Awesome! Thank you!
Me too. Yes there are 3 wire leds. I have the same fenders and the 1 inch led will mark and blink at the same time.
It looks pretty cool on this build. Simple.
Thanks!
Good stuff man! learning a lot about TJ mods!
Glad to hear it!
Nicely done. What size hole saw is that you used?

Wow that is an amazing wiring set up. Did you get the pins and clips local?
No, I can remember where. Could have been Waytek Wire online? You can probably find them on eBay too
Great video! Exactly what I’m planning on doing for my TJ….what size hole saw did i you use?
Thanks!
I think it was 3-1/8” but you should measure the light before drilling
I didnt think there was a worse headlight than my JK lights , one of the first changes I made was to JW speaker headlights. I like the chrome grill 👍🏻
From what I’ve read the JWs and the trucklites both sound great, thanks man!
Would you mind sharing who makes your weather pack connector kits and crimpers you showed on your tailgate when you made your harness?
