This is an oldie but a goodie. Thank you so much for this video. Damn I have been drivin Indesign since the beginning and I can't believe how I have not been using this feature... holy hell the hours I have collectively wasted! Kickass. True what they say - always be a student.
Hey Andrew. Thanks for the tips. I'm working in CS4 at home and CS6 at the office. How do you get the bullet controls on the control bar at the top? Thanks.
Thanks for the tip, but in my bullet point list i want to have the different points separated, but with these settings InDesign puts a bullet where there is no text just because I have pressed enter. I want to remove those bullets so that the points are separated properly. Do you know how to do so?
I just started to use bullets, and it just spams only one bullet, how do I make more? plz help asap, I need to get my college assignment done this week.
Thanks for the tip!My question is the same as axeenj. I want to add another line to an already-bulleted list, which is to say I want to add another bullet. However, the next bullet sentence I add is not evenly distanced from the previous bulleted sentence, as are all the others in the list. In MS Word I'd have pressed ENTER twice so I'd get more space without another bullet but in InDesign every time I press ENTER, it adds a bullet instead of a space between. Any suggestions?
***** Ultimately I changed the paragraph style to 'normal' for the new sentence I wanted to add, then typed it out, hit ENTER until I had as much paragraph space as I needed, and then selected the sentence and converted it to a bullet via paragraph style. That's working fine for me now. Thanks very much :)
How can you add a bullet or glyph in front of a numbered list? I am trying to create a paragraph style for this. In the Bullets and Numbering tab, you select List Type, numbers. Go to Numbering Style, Format, choose. Then under the Number fly-out on the right, you can choose Insert Special Character, then choose Bullet Character. Seems to work, but I want a different bullet. It seems to pick up the default dot bullet. I tried deleting this bullet from the add bullets, but you can not remove this bullet. How do I change this? Or can I use glyph? This is what I need: Downward facing triangle (in red), then Map #(in grey), then the text (in black). All automated in a style. Can you help?
I know you did this a long time ago, but it truly helped so much. Thank you so much. Well done indeed.

An easier way is to put a "soft return" (command \ on a mac) just before the first letter after the bullet

Oh man. This is not working for me at all. It will only move the whole paragraph. It keeps moving the top line no matter what I select.
That is as solid tutorial
