    Your voice can help end homelessness. If we do not fix the affordable housing crisis, homelessness will continue to get worse. Click here invisiblepeople.tv/getinvolved to tweet, email, call, or Facebook your federal and state legislators to tell them ending homelessness and creating more affordable housing is a priority to you.

      You cannot get into affordable housing if you have felonies. You have to have at least 10 years clean record. And I can guarantee you if a homeless person is on the street they have felonies against them they cannot get affordable housing you can't fix a homeless crisis if they fail to be productive citizens. 99% of the homeless that I have worked with in the past 5 years sit around smoke pot all day long or they cook dabs all they want to do is get high and when they run out of money they Robin steal the people who are busting their ass to work

    My question as it makes no sense... Why jail homeless people for trespassing when there seems no designated place for the homeless? Is jail the another name for temporary housing? This video did not even show that Any clean up by Cal Trans was accomplished. A total waste of money that in my opinion is unwarranted and harassment.

    • @auntiebobbolink
      @auntiebobbolink 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sunshine girl, shelters are now permanent low income housing. The country stood by and watched that happen. Of course it doesn't make sense. Gaslighting doesn't work if it's rational. Follow Mark's urging and find a way to speak out. Write letters to the editor. There are a lot of us unhoused people who would love to have people like you support us in our efforts to overturn this crap!

      Seriously, I hope you're well and not coughing while surfing. 😊🤙
      I'm curious, how are you advocating? What doors have you found open?
      I got so pissed in the last few months that I decided to write a letter to every clergy in town. Without yellow pages it took forever to get a list together. That's what I was going to do tonight was address envelopes. I've been hurt too much to have any illusions. I stand a good chance of being ostracized and even vilified. But I look at many great activists before me and know that somebody has to step up and break the ice. I told one pastor she would be getting a letter from me and she asked if I could come to their next outreach meeting. I'm not holding my breath, but I know someone has to make that first move. I have some good Indian, Hawaiian and feminist role models to follow.
      Let me know what you're doing. I'll be cheering for you!

      @auntiebobbolink 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @jasongates-
    @jasongates- 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Okay, normally I don't wish ill on anyone, but this is one time I wish Caltran would go through what this guy goes through. Let Caltran go through that for five years (since he said five years of them not leaving a letter).
    2:44 - 2:49 Yes they would do that to their own family.
    And, look at this. The homeless care to clean up the city streets (and even recycle), but the city itself does not care to clean up its own streets. But then, they want to ticket people for littering (and homeowners for not using recycle cans properly with the garbage collector). If you don't care that your own streets are trashed, why ticket people for littering and not using recycle cans properly? You may as well pay people to litter. Instead of paying this guy to clean up, they could pay him to litter. They may as well, if they really want him to get out of there, cause that will help him get out of there. And if I'm him, I would just up and leave Los Angeles, and never go back, and I would tell everyone everywhere to never go to Los Angeles. I would tell all residents of Los Angeles to move away. Since that's how Los Angeles is. If I were him.

    • @auntiebobbolink
      @auntiebobbolink 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You make several good points, Jason. Here's the thing with your suggestion about Los Angeles:. If a number of people got together, I mean everyone, not just unhoused people, and made a public protest, got video of the residents cleaning up with outsiders helping, Make An Issue of it, that's the only thing that will change
      We need to follow Mark's advice and organize and get active in battling all this crud. I don't know where you live, but you have the spirit to rally folk! Do it!

To the Rich selfish people: Judgements a coming, for you! I hate this! My family was homeless when I was a little girl. It changes you forever. Second time I headed south to Texas were the VA wasted taxpayer money at age 50! Then moved to the rockies for Obamacare and did work program to get a part time job while trying to fix health problems. Still need one more surgery but have to get enough tests for that plus it has to deteriorate enough for insurance companies say OK! I stayed camped out mostly using a shelter when cold plus always got a shower and meals there and had a storage unit halfway to camp and near a laundry mat was in a rural area you could go to local gym for showers to or just shower with a gallon of water at camp try not to look homeless and kept camp clean. Later moved to larger city and stayed at a city run shelters tent city! Got section 8 with work program right after then after year got hired till my back gave out I would do the other surgeries for stomach, sinuses and legs but was trying to get back done just none of the doctors wanted to give time or were in a hurry to medicate plus shoot you up!

      How? How will they take care of themselves IF WE DON’T HELP THEM? Your comment is exactly why homelessness is growing. You expect people who do not have resources to get out of homelessness on their own. That belief is unrealistic and not practical, but it gives you an excuse to not help your neighbors, so there is that!
