He also had them sing on the title song of his latest album (American Boys), and now this beautifully done Vincent. You can find American Pie on Home Frees channel, and American Boys on Dons. Don still sounds so great, and the HF guys just enhance it. Note: Don also invited them to the unveiling of his hollywood star and asked them to sing a chorus of American Pie right there.

When they collaborated on "American Pie" it was done separately during the Covid lockdowns. It so nice that they can be together for "Vincent". This is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars. Home Free also collaborated with Don on "American Pie".
This is truly phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! Wow. And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻...... 💖 💖💖💖💖💖
I was a junior in high school when this song first came out in 1972 (yes I’m old LOL); so I am very familiar with the original and dare I say this version with the harmonies is even more beautiful. Don wrote the song after reading a book on the life of Vincent Van Gogh. @DonMcLean is an amazing story teller in so many of the songs he has written . He is 83 years old and still has a beautiful voice. Home Free is so lucky to have his friendship.

Home Free sang “Seven Lonely Days” at last week’s star studded Patsy Cline tribute at the Ryman. They also backed up Rita Wilson who sang “She’s Got You” towards the end of the night. (Pat Benetar was next, then Wynonna closed with “Crazy”) This concert is scheduled to be broadcast by PBS in November. I’m really hoping HomeFree is included in the broadcast. The song sounds very much like HomeFree, and would be nice if fans get to hear it.

I think they have titled their video poorly. It's actually Don featuring Home Free. He invited them to do this re-recording for his new album. They also back him on the title track, American Boys, which is a real bop. There is an audio only video on Don's channel. I love how they treated it with such respect.
