This is not about race. I'm black and I see this is about culture. It's the same thing as our black churches. Music is important to EVERY culture. If one day more Hispanics showed up to a black church and all of a sudden the music changed because we became more Hispanic than black, black people would object not because of the people coming to the church, but because of the change in the music or the way we started doing things. New introduced cultures tend to take over. What EVERYONE is missing is a very human part of this. IT'S grief. It's the loss of what was. That's all. If you go in a grocery store, you notice that over the years, the music playing has changed. This has to be hard for a patron who has been going there for years. T.V. changed, cultural norms change. I am 50, and I miss the America we were in the 80s. Does that make me racist? Black neighborhoods are filling up with Hispanics. That changes the sounds you hear the smells you smell. The stores change. On and on. Why can't anyone understand that. We have been conditioned to think everything is racist. This is the first time I have ever disagreed with Corey. This pastor is complicating something very simple. We are all still children inside. We don't want our house to change. One day, people won't know who the Winans are. That hurts a little. Our American way is changing fast because of globalism. The saddest thing is that instead of our Christian church having influence, America seems to only be offering offensive antiChrist things into the world. Let's concentrate on our Biblical duty to spread the Gospel and give people GRACE TO GRIEVE the loss of a culture. I am grieving, too. He needs to learn to let go and let God. This man is not racist. He is hurting. Corey, please understand his culture is dying. It's painful. It's already started in Chicago and New York.

The assumption she's not qualified is because of DEI. Because of past inequality, tradition or whatever barriers you want to blame, there are positions for which there are not as many women as men qualified to hold them. If companies implement DEI policies, the number of qualified women to hire will be exhausted long before the number of men. HR will then have to hire less qualified women to get the number of DEI-mandated hires. It's simple statistics and demographics.

lol! At this point, Joel can’t be taken seriously. He scares me because I do believe he’s a problematic and divisive brother, if a brother. But his M.O. has been the same for the past two years, and that’s become comical to witness. He’ll say something utterly unbiblical and unhelpful. The Saints will call him out for it. He claims he’s “misunderstood”. Rinse and repeat. His premise for Christian Nationalism is not of the Spirit of Christ. If all or most choose to vote for mostly Christian candidates, so be it from a political perspective. But making the concerted effort by Believers to establish a Christian Nation this side of heaven isn’t God’s call for His people. That’s not supposed to be our focus. If we could instead start a charge to pray, preach and praise with all boldness in this land for the sake of saving souls, I could get with his eagerness. But this is an EARTHLY plight by a mortal man who happens to be a pastor and a pro at gaslighting the undiscerning. Consider that this conversation is NOT about proclaiming Christ’s Gospel, it’s about how white people have been hoodwinked and need to take this country back. This guy is not to be heeded or taken seriously…and after the requisite times to warn him to stop his shenanigans, it’s way past time to have NOTHING to do with him.

Watching Cory and Joel duel over who was responsible for introducing the term, "African-American," was a hoot. Cory blamed the white man and Joel blamed the Jews. Talk about racial scapegoating. There's a SNL sketch in there somewhere.
Thankfully, the Yale Alumni Magazine has come to the rescue. Jesse Jackson is credited with popularizing the term as an alternative to "black" in the 1980s, although the term has an older -- and apparently noble -- history.
    I quote ...
"The Oxford English Dictionary traced its documented occurrences of 'African American' back as far as 1835. (The related term 'Afro-American,' which enjoyed a brief popularity in the 1960s, has an 1831 citation in the OED.) ... a routine search for the phrase in America’s Historical Newspapers, the Readex company’s very powerful database of early US papers, ... led to a 1782 sermon published in Philadelphia. The sermon, whose only known surviving copy is at Harvard’s Houghton Library, was titled 'A Sermon on the Capture of Lord Cornwallis.' The title page of the pamphlet includes the byline 'By an African American.'"
I suggest you read the piece -- it's great. It appears the author of the sermon was black and the intent -- given that the colonists had just secured their independence from Britain by defeating Cornwallis -- "may indeed have been strategically aimed at integrating blacks into the new social and political order. This notion fits nicely with the author's byline: 'an African American.' The idea that blacks might be part of American society was in the air by the 1760s."
    Jews?!?!?!? Good grief.

I would point Corey to Philemon and say yes. There is absolutely a difference between how a Christian had slaves and how a non Christian would have slaves. Slavery is still absolutely wrong, and is not in the same sense as slaves in the ancient middle east. I will say I think the slavery in America was worse in principle and ethic because these weren't slaves by choice, they were bought. Typically the slaves in the ancient middle east were by choice and had a chance to leave after a while (not always the case) especially in Greek and Jewish culture. I do agree with Joel that America no more or less guilty than other countries, but to downplay slavery is past okay.

@NP-zs5ui Because it's wealth and power and influence given to kids who did not actually earn anything. For example, how many Harvard students are there because their parents are major donors or famous alumn... same for most universities in the US. A ton. Flats and sororities are full of kids who wouldn't have gotten into the university had their parents not been major alumni donors. This has been going sense universities were created. But somehow now all of a sudden he has an issue with unearned university acceptances now that a small trickle of poor black kids were given a free ride bc they managed to excel academically in extremely bad situations.
Now I think DEI is ultimately a unsustainable way of solving the problem of inequality when it comes to opportunity. But the reasons for attacking it that racists are giving are not consistent critiques.
The critique of DEI should be that we should be that for all adult level qualifications, there should be a common standard. If a large group of kids appear to be way out of step with the rest of society with meeting that standard proportionally to their counterparts, that's a sign that there's a systematic issue that begins at birth for these people....
If we can address those issues, and solve the root causes, them we don't need to worry about trying to fix that issue when they're applying school.
For example, all schools should have the same amount of books, the same student to teacher ratios, the same budget, the same amount of university prep and sat prep ect.... there should be no reason why a kid in a black community should be any less prepared than a kid in public schools in wealthy areas..... their education experience should be identical in rigor.
Well unfortunately we have a system where we determine k-12 public funding based on property taxes. That is the most obvious natural classist education system.
For example, in pro sports performing teams always get the first picks in the drafts. Why? Because we all know that in order to keep competitive and fair playing fiend from year to year, we have to constantly level the playing field with OPPURTUNITY to prevent a monopoly or a run away dynasty.
Our education system is like if the Kansas City cheifs get the number one picks every time they win a super bowl 😂😂😂 ummmm yeah they'll never loose a game for a million years and at some point they will literally be a team of hall of famers vs a bunch of second rate players.
Well what's worse with education system is that it's not entertainment, and it's children instead of adults.....

Sometimes, it seems that it is hard for people to look at things purely through a biblical/scriptural worldview. Yes other countries have committed atrocities and none are innocent.. but we live in America. So we’re focused on the impact slavery has had on America and the descendants of those slaves in America. Even after slavery there was Jim Crow. To talk about other countries and say “what about them” deflects from the issue at hand. Black people 100% helped build this country. That’s not to take away from all of the great businessmen and founding fathers.. but America does not become the America it is today without 400 years of slave labor.
