Anton Horner created a uniquely American style of horn playing, and his impact remains today. He is said to have introduced the double horn in the United States.
Born: June 21, 1877, Krajková, Czechia
Died: 1971
As I read these comments, it seems to me that these listeners haven't a clue about the importance and rarity of this recording. Anton Horner was a legendary orchestral performer, one of the fountainheads since the era of recorded music began. Thanks for finding and posting this.
agreed. comments that the general public makes about classical music is often cringe. I've played music in orchestras for about 40 years, and i have no desire to see any comments from anyone in the youtube community :)
With a name like Horner he was born to play the French Horn😊. Brilliant 🤩
Okay... so that's how it should be played...
Absolut fantastisch
This is a half tone sharp. I assume it’s played too fast and it’s warping the pitch?
Thank you. The 78 was recorded in 1912 and played back on a modern phonograph at 78rpm speed. I am sure that the 1/2 step sharp is due to one or both of these issues. I have put over 400 78rpm recordings on digital format and do not have the time to hone each in for a precise A-440 pitch adjustment.
woah, how did you notice? Do you have perfect pitch or are you just familiar with the song?
La tetralogía de Wagner es una de las expresiones musicales más trascendentales que he escuchado en mi vida. Nadie hay que lo haya igualado.
It may have been done deliberately. Recordings were often sped up in those days in order to "make the music sound more exciting".
@@gregmonks Either way, if it was deliberately recorded at a slow speed to raise the pitch on playback, we should take it back down to 440 or whatever he might have habitually used. That said-- fantastic playing! A horn player would have even more insight on just how good and why.
There are cheeky moments in Wagner- like this, the sudden meter changes for no reason in Siegfried's call are a little bit funny. I suspect this is how old mate Richard intended it.
Likely he did it just to poke fun at his buddy Franz.
Magnífico!!! 👏👏👏
..jaw-dropping..
Absolutely on so many levels
There is the french horn and there are the other musical instruments . This is it....
Fantástico!!!!
Genial
His tone is so good
Sounded a bit like starwars for a second
Name checks out
Gorgeous!
Much better than the most of the players nowadays.
So und nicht anders..... Sorry , aber alles , was heutzutage an den Solopositionen der großen Orchester sitzt ,ist nur ein Schatten davon.
