The real apology needs to come from Monken. Man called ZERO runs for LJ and only two zone/read options between LJ and DH. I’m jealous of Philly and their dedication to the run particularly the zone/read option. Even BUF called 10 designed runs for JA. But the best running QB gets 0. Smh.

    • @haywood0457

@ let me put you on game. A little football IQ for you if you read all this because I know some of yall are casuals (no disrespect just being honest) who watch for entertainment but don’t understand the Xs and Os. I know LJ was carving Buffalo up. But it’s not about being cute it’s about setting the team up optimally. The RPO is a cheat code and BAL is simply a run first team. Think about this: The RPO leaders at QB are LJ JH JD and JA. All are still playing except the BEST one and it’s because the OC goes blank and forgets the team identity. LJs ability to run is his greatest asset and BAL closed strong because after their bye week they increased LJs usage in the DESIGNED run game dramatically with more RPOs than before the bye. With LJ, you’re supposed to make teams account for his run ability EVERY play, not once a drive, or every other play…EVERY play because it opens all other means of attack. The easiest way to do this is through RPO action. People with little understanding of the Xs and Os do not realize how incredibly difficult it is for even the best defenses to stay disciplined vs that action. The mesh point causes defenses to hold off their normal run fits and gap responsibilities because at that moment, who has the ball is in question. Is it the QB? RB? Is it a pass? That SPLIT second pause can literally open ALL other offensive tactics including the pass game because the UNPREDICTABILITY of it. Look at what BAL did 1st round vs PITT. But they completely forgot about it vs BUF and got predictably one sided allowing BUF to rush them for no good reason. Compare BAL to a team like Philly who is dedicated to the run and especially the zone/read option. No way they or BUF gets 1st & goal from the 2 and only come away with 3 like BAL did because they have the wherewithal to use their QBs running ability especially in short yardage situations. Remember what I just said, it’s hard to stay disciplined vs any RPO action play after play. If you stick with it, you’re almost guaranteed 1-2 yards in short yardage situations and eventually the defense will cave and big plays are created hence all the big runs by JH and SB and when BAL runs it, LJ and DH.

In the Superbowl, the falcons lost the game when Julio Jones failed to catch the ball on a critical down. The ball sailed right between his outstretched hands. Julio never located the ball and so his jump was slightly mistimed, probably lost it in the bright overhead lights. For some reason nobody ever said anything was his fault. Andrews was the best tight end in football a few years ago before some of his key injuries. I thought it was horrible decision to throw the football on that last play in the dreadful snow to frozen fingers. Lamar or Henry could have found their way into the endzone. I think mark was anticipating contact and he leaned back before the ball was there, throwing him off balance. When he felt no contact he was too low and lost his grip. He was basically getting ahead of himself and trying to crash through and into the endzone before first securing the catch. A terrible mistake, amplified by when it happened. Now he's in the Tony Romo club. Lamar's embarrassing fumble was worse, but then again it wasn't on the last play in the biggest game of the season. The best team doesn't always win. Sometimes its just the guys who make the fewest mistakes.

I appreciate him at least acknowledging this because he did not speak to the media so had to speak about this eventually.

The ppl making d*ath threats are the lowest of the low.. imagine being a grown adult threatening the life of a professional athlete for his performance in said sport.. it’s insane.. Mark Andrews is a dawg and the ravens are an elite team who had a great season..

Couldn’t agree more. Welcome to a screwed up society. Some have received death threats just for playing. Well or poorly didn’t matter.

"Fans" who are turn on individual players for "losing" games are wrapped up in their own egos. No need to apologize. Period.

Whenever a player doesn't play well in a game, they get death threaths and/or home broken into... Makes no sense 😕

He is getting blamed when he is been for years the most thrusted receiver for the Ravens. It happens ! You are a receiver you get crushed for 1 action. QB’s somehow get a pass for years

No one ever blames the defense. They could've stopped the Bills from scoring but they didn't.

I think he spoke to take heat off of Lamar & the team + coaches. Especially since he was quiet right after.
And yes death threats are way out of line. This is a sports game where we're watching millionaire athletes work out, it's not that serious.

What's actually crazy is how Lamar fumbled from an ankle tackle and everybody just agrees to blame the center for a bad snap and blame Mark Andrews for a dropped pass off target.
Ravens fans have not a god damn thing going on upstairs.

Why they calling this an apology. Not once did he apologize in that statement in neither did he have to. I respect Mark for addressing the loss and showing that he will bounce back better.

Spend a season as a jets fan you wouldn’t be threatening any player for losing in the playoffs they would be celebrated entitled fans are crazy just be happy of all the success and great moments the team has given you. Sports is to enjoy not to ruin your life enough to where you wanna be violent that’s wild behavior

In Buffalo, we root for all the players who played here, regardless if they go to a different team. And Mark Andrews is a stand up guy, I love his charity. I feel for him, even tho my Bills won. But we did not win just b/c of Mark. Lots of factors in a ball game that go into it.
