      @@RailCowGirl in my opinion and if had your channel: I would offer bedder applicable merchandise articles then your cowgirl motives!!
      You living in a very nice natural country with lovely animals, woods, seas and landscape. I visit your country and saw your tracks. There are many bedder motives for your fans like your offers!!
      Additional the next interest motive are the railroad-motives.
      Hope, you think about for more interest merchandise artikels

    Great video! Really outstanding story development with your personal opening scenes of going to work. I'm very impressed with the obvious care evidenced in the physical state of the loco. Railroads in the States devote all their attention to the mechanical state of their equipment, but not so much when it comes to the more "cosmetic" external appearances... it's all "bottom line" revenue concerns. Gotta get over to Norway some day and do some serious rail fan excursions.

    Good morning RCG, enjoy watching you get your train set up. Never realized how complicated it was. Amazing how many trains are parked in the station. It must take a lot of engineers to put them all to work. I see that one engine has a very small window high up. How will that affect your view and camera installation? Enjoy your day, cheers, PFC

    After watching this I would like to know how it works. You must get an email telling you your train is ready so you can pull it out of the shop. Do you to communicate with someone so they know when you are leaving and at the right time all the right switches get thrown so you can end up in the right place connected and then going to your destination? Seems like there is some two way communication that has to happen. Also it seems strange with all those trains in the shop and yard you dont see anyone else. Where are all the crews?

It has always been a wish to return someday and ride all of the rails of Norge - with a very high-quality, professional digital cinema camera and an excellent set of cinema lenses to go with it. If, on the low probability that I actually manage to arrange such a trip, what are the possibilities of actually being able to shoot from inside the cab?

    At about 14:10 we see a device flip up over the rail. Quite a surprise! Is it passive or does it go bang if a driver inadvertently drove over it? Thanks.

    • @dibujodecroquis1684
      @dibujodecroquis1684 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a driver can't drive over it because then the device would retract, go back again. Probably it's measuring something (vibrations?) to indicate that there's a train on the rails and no other train can go on the rails at that moment.

    • @MarkWaller2
      @MarkWaller2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not quite sure, but I think it's what in Britain would be called a "detonator", so it will go bang as a warning if a train goes over it. Obviously it moves away from the rail if a train is supposed to go that way. Train locations in the depot are probably detected using "track circuits" - i.e. there's a small electric voltage between the rails, and when a train passes it completes a circuit so the control system can detect where it is.

    • @dibujodecroquis1684
      @dibujodecroquis1684 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkWaller2 No, it's not a detonator. Here's what a detonator is and looks like: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detonator_(railway)

    I LOVED this journey, RailCowGirl! Absolutely amazing! These days I'm recommending your channel to family and friends and I'll tell more people soon. I'd like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind. I'll try to be straightforward:
    1) According to the size and spanning of the transformers, I'm assuming that the line voltage ranges from 1.5 to 10 kilovolts. Am I right? What is the exact value?
    2) What's that plastic case supported by pylons that it's curently under construction beside and along the rails? I guess it's for the cables that connect the beacons, isn't it?
    3) Is the beacon system ERTMS or this system isn't used in Norway because it's not part of the EU?
    4) I saw at least two circular-section towers beside the railway. What are they? Silos?
    5) At Gol station, the sleepers (UK) or ties (US) are different at the switches (US) or turnouts ("diversions", to say it simpler). Are they wooden in contrast to the rest, which are concrete ones?
    6) Why is so much ballast used at some stretches of the railway? It's hard to see the sleepers/ties sometimes.
    Greetings from Spain.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! :D WOW! Good questions!
      1) The voltage of the line is 15KV 16 2/3hz (AC) (1 phase out of 3 at 50hz / 3 = 16.333333 = 16 2/3hz)
      2) The plastic you see are basically conduits for signalling cables etc.
      3) We have one line in Norway (Ski - Mysen - Rakkestad) that is equipped with ERTMS/ETCS Level 2. The Bergen Line is planned converted to ERTMS/ETCS Level 2 in December 2023. We use a standard optical signalling system today.
      4) The brick circular towers you saw was water towers. They are historic and was used as water towers to fill the steam engines back in the days.
      5) The ties in switch point 1 at Gol station has sleepers/ties made of wood. Wood is more flexible compared to concrete. I guess they'll be swapped to concrete when they change the whole switch at some point in the future :)
      6) They have been doing extensive track work on the line this summer, and added ballast will be put in place by a track setting machine :)

    where can one go to get info on how the whole rail yard system and set up? Like, how do you actually know where to find the train and the right carriages ... it seems you cover a LOT of walking territory. Hope you understand my question ... basically I just want to know how it all hangs together. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you!

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Everything is planned through a system. Where to find them can differ from time to time, but each train company has allocated tracks in the yard. First I go to the maintenance office to pickup the number of the locomotive, then I ask them where it is placed.. then ready the loco and call up the station master to say I'm ready and where the carriages are placed. Then they'll just give me a path and I drive that path :) et voila, you're exactly where you should be :D
