Just a heads up, this video was recorded on Monday, prior to the LA fires. While we mention the wind, the big winds that caused the fires had not yet arrived in Southern California.
Plan staff availability is lower. I believe they have a day like that every year after the Holidays where most their staff takes an off day or half day. So they restrict capacity. They restrict capacity when staff availability is low. They usually plan these days way ahead of time. Or other logistic needs dictate lower capacity. Like staff assigned to removing the Xmas decorations. They are restricting labor cost and balancing it during transition periods. It's not always just demand.
very true. the single largest cost on the operations side is always labor. if you plan on cutting back on labor, restricting attendance is the best way to balance it out.
It’s 100% because they don’t have staff on duty to handle anymore guests @freshbaked. You can even tell looking around the park in comparison to the very busy days you were recently there. (Everywhere you looked on very busy days you see staff everywhere whereas today you hardly see staff around.)
36:05 like you said, a lot of attractions are off-line & DL is worried where to put folks. Also, this might be the first day DL is able to lower staffing & give CMs a break after working extra shifts during peak holiday time.
@Riceball01 it's under charging when you look at tickets to other entertainment.. professional sports, Broadway show. The cost per hour is actually pretty good.
I think that green hue in the river is due to whatever treatment chemicals they add to the water. I've noticed that over in the water near the wishing well also. It is probably super green right after they add the chemicals.
About the pirates of the Caribbean fast pass line. I hope Disneyland executives didn’t lie and they take Pirates of the Caribbean off lightning lane. I absolutely hate being lied to. Disney should not lie to us. Walt would be disgusted if they lied to us.
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!! LOVE that intro music! David played a winner, it FEELs like Disneyland! I do love the Bench's of Disneyland, just the joy of sitting and watching people having FUN!
I feel like the assumption that the park is max capacity at 1pm is false. Disney cannot control when guests choose to arrive, and I would guess that during holidays guests tend to stay the entire day, but weekdays off-peak guests are locals and tend to arrive in a larger % in the late afternoon evening. I have stayed full days and noticed the park much busier in the early evening than in the late morning or lunchtime, especially during the week. With local crowds people do not have to choose to arrive or stay the entire day, and disney cannot anticipate what those numbers are on a daily basis, and they will miss from time to time. Also, I am all in for Disney to have lower daily capacity and have $40 ears and $18 chicken to compensate. Good for Disney!
FreshBaked. David, a nice quietish day at Disneyland. The tree that has been removed, it's to be shipped to your backyard so Sofia can have her treehouse in the branch's. It's also to help her perfect her climbing skills. I for one like the "green" tinge to the water in the Rivers of America. I find it much better than the dirty muddy water effect that the rivers been since the beginning. Stay safe. Cheers, Chris Perry.
18:05 I think that even though lightning lane is bad for standby guests, the more lightning lane queues, the better. Because then the crowds will be more dispersed causing less people with lightning lane in each queue. Lightning Lane isn't going away, so if every ride that has the ability to handel lightning lane, gets it, there will be less lightning lane people in each queue, leading to less waiting for standby if you know what I mean. But obviously the best thing would be no lightning lane at all.
I actually scored a reservation on Tuesday the 7th. My gf had a res. it had been booked since toward the end of December. I randomly kept checking and refreshing the calendar and on Sunday afternoon, Tuesday was open, i jumped on it and was able to go. I couldnt believe it and it wasn't crowded, just steady. All in all, it was a great day.
You have to remember Jan 1 was a Monday last year. The school vacations were very different this year. Florida just went back to school yesterday for example. Also the fire threat and weather plays a part in January
Many people make park reservations and show up for 15 min at the end of the day. Disney doesn't know if someone will be there all day or just at the end of the day, and has to allow space for them (all day). Also mid-morning is early, more people will be arriving as the day begins.
Yup this is why I’m not renewing our passes. Random days being said to be closed for reservations, but then I see a live and the park is not even close to being full. Ride closures or not it’s not worth the money to be boxed out so many days
Been pass holder since 1990s. Jan 25th time to renew. Not going to do it. For the past two months, we have been unable to log in on our phones to change or get reservations from our phones. Spent 3 hours in November logging in over and over, trying different methods, on wifi and off, different browsers, etc., then every day since have tried and failed. Still can't log in on phones, it spins and sends us to the username page after passwrod page. Spent 4 hours last week on my computer hitting refresh to go tuesday, the day after you went for this video. Finally opened at 11:59 pm. We enjoyed the visit, but the reservation time investment cost and inflated key prices are just too high to keep Disneyland worth it. We don't really ride rides, just walk around and buy food and pay for parking. Maybe one ride per visit close to closing, as we just go in the evenings 2-3 times a week. The app is on both our phones with gps tracking enabled, so they know everything we do. You would think Disneyland would want customers like us.
We discovered Knotts- and it has the magic Disneyland used to. Better tp, more christmas decorations and lights to walk in at night, the berry festival also has lights. The christmas decorations and gardens and plants and fairy land at Disneyland 10-15 years ago was unbeatable.. but the last few years are tired and depressing, and the gardens and plants have completely disappeared. Knotts has great food if you know where to eat and a meal plan that holds real value, live entertainment in the evenings- that you just don't get at disneyland, it seems cleaner than disneyland has been for the last two years, and the last two hours are empty for rides and walking around. Parking, every day of the year, two meals a visit and infinite slushies, hot cocoas and drinks runs at around $350-$420 for the gold pass, all park pass(which includes parking, six flags and all parks), water park. If you get it in August, you also get the following four months "free" so could be for sixteeen months. It is cheapest in August and then the price goes up. David, you paid for the premium pass- and that only buys you the lounge and seems unnecessary. Also- you seem to make poor food choices- would be happy to list best options for your future visits.
As many of the school districts are out this week, Disneyland may have been expecting a larger crowd, but January 6 is a major holiday for the Latin community, this may have resulted in smaller than expected crowds. They may increase on Tuesday and the rest of the week.
Thank you for the kind words for dumbo! I’ll be 77 next week and I can remember “movie magazines” when I was young which would feature pictures of young stars and starlets on dumbo. To my younger self dreaming of Disneyland back east in Philadelphia riding dumbo was the quintessential Disneyland dream ride. I always just love catching the breeze on dumbo both in Florida and California. My daughter or grand kids really don’t get it. Lol
On Wednesday (8th) I was able to get a reservation for the day around noon so we could get in to see WoC One in the evening. We’ve had some luck getting a same day reservation a couple times in beginning of December before the Inspire key blackout period. DCA was kind of busy and DL queues looked to be hovering right around their regular maximums
It was a nice day on monday, i got to do almost every ride without lightninglane and even saw fantasmic from the seated area without reservations. It was also nice to meet you. Greetings from El Salvador
My daughter and I were there on Sunday the 5th, and I noticed the balloon statue on top of the Dumbo ride for THE FIRST TIME... Now I know why. They cut the tree down. Makes the rainbow hot air balloon figurine on top of the ride much more noticeable.
I think it's safe to say that with the decorations coming down they wanted to keep the attendance down. Less people in the park, will likely lead to less people at the end of the day and earlier they can start taking things down.
We are visiting next week with our Enchant key We can only hold 4 reservations so we have to just HOPE something is open for the other 4 of 8 days we are down there. It's ridiculous how every day is sold out, and the randomly TODAY same day you can reserve both parks.
Just rode Space Mountain last week. Same line you saw, 60 minutes, but on the helicopter pad. There is a gate keeper as you enter the second building, pausing the line. Once you get past them, it’s a long walk, but it keeps moving right up to the final queue.
Monday was blocked out/sold out because Disney didn't want anyone to use their remaining Festival of Holidays coupons, since it was the last day of the season.
As it was the last day of holiday I was wondering if there were going to be a lot of people showing up after work to see the fireworks, and do whatever holiday things they could do. Maybe that is part of why it was sold out. of course I look at those lines and think to myself that is too crowded for me :)
Maybe a computer glitch in the reservation system? They know how many tickets they sold, there is no way they intentionally locked it to single day ticker buyers and kept it locked. Unless they knew somehow in advance they would have staffing problems.
So this is my second year having a MK and it was not this hard last year to find dates to go to the parks and I have the highest pass. The next thing thing I've heard is Disney is cutting the staffing down compared to 2024 and think this leads to less pools for MK's to get dates. It feels like Disney wants MK there to fill out the numbers a little but doesn't want to call in more Cast Members to work to let more MK's in the parks, Disney will only do that if fully ticketed guests want to fill the park out. But we have not had a sold out date in a long time, so we should have no problems getting MK dates but they just let less people in over letting the MK's in.
Haven’t read all the comments, FYI. I think someone didn’t check the calendar when forecasting. 6 Jan 2024 was a Saturday. Without checking one would assume 6 Jan 2025 would be on a Sunday - still the weekend. BUT 2024 was a leap year, shifting the date 2 days, not one. Add this too ride closures and such, and you have a “slow” day in the park.
Have you thought that maybe after the holidays they give employees time off, so they don't schedule as many cast members, so in order to be able to still run smoothly with fewer cast members that they cap the tickets as opposed to some conspiracy against key holders?
So, most of the reservations are going to Magic Key people who don't come in till evening. Wednesday was quiet in the morning for two of our party. In the evening all 4 of us went back an it was pretty crowded.
I was there on Monday and have another theory - besides rides being offline and dining capacity down. Seems to me that people simply showed up to the parks late on Monday. Why? Maybe since it was the last day of Christmas lights, people wanted to experience the parks at night - so they simply showed up late.
Hey David, I think you’re misunderstanding the intent of the reservation system. My theory is that it’s meant to staff the resort. There are certain thresholds that they use to determine the amount of cast they need on any given day. I’m also thinking they adjust the availability of certain days based on the cast they have scheduled that day.
The Haunted Mansion ride will always be busy because it’s one of the best rides in the park. Too bad that all of the Haunted Mansion movies are terrible.
You mentioned the intensity going into Bayou Country and I noticed there were strollers parked on either side of the path which may have contributed a bit.
I understand that the lightning lane is an evil service compared to the free fast pass but in this L Lane future we live in, I'm Happy pirates and haunted mansion have lightning lane because the more people have their reservations tied up with those two rides, the more reservations available for other rides
I booked reservations for Jan 24 and was looking at the calendar for today and my reservation is missing. My son’s reservation is still on the books. Anyone else have that happen?
Question, do you know if how many they let in is affected by their staff? Because I was wondering if after the busy holiday and a demand on all their staff, if this day they have less people able to work. I don't know. Just something that I was thinking about.
Dave, just a friendly suggestion to have your thumbnail and title dates match the actual date you’re covering. You state you’re there on the 6th, but the thumbnail says the 8th and your video title says the 9th.
I disagree with you about the Pirates Lightning Lane. I am Autistic and panic when am in long lines. Getting the DAS used to be my option, but now it is very difficult and stressful getting this pass. My only option is buying the lightning lane pass to avoid having a meltdown and destroying my entire visit. I have heard others with Autism say the same thing. There are some of us who have a hard time waiting in lines and deserve a nice day at Disneyland also.
About the pirates of the Caribbean fast pass line. I hope Disneyland corporate executives didn’t lie and they take Pirates of the Caribbean off lightning lane. I absolutely hate being lied to. Disney should not lie to us. Walt would be disgusted if they lied to us.
I wonder if the park will close with all these fires. Priority being all the poor folks in need down there of course...however i have a trip planned for January 14th! Haha
Disney has been getting it wrong for a long time. The management is tripping over themselves trying to figure the formula out “again” but it’s their overthinking to efficiently squeeze every penny that blinds them. It’s sad because I liked Disney pre-covid.
Yeah, I think you're overthinking things. I'm pretty sure Disney has floors of suits dedicated to identifying trends in the market. I don't know the reason why the crowds were so light on the day you went but I wouldn't complain and automatically chalk it up to "Disney got it wrong". If anything, this is how it should be 80% of the time with the other 20% being reserved for the busy seasons. 🤣🤣 Tbh, this video is only telling me that they're FINALLY using the reservation system for its OG intended purpose. Limiting attendance like they did back in the COVID days.
Park capacity is a function of two things: ride capacity and restaurant capacity. I’ve worked hospitality for two decades. There’s unusually a noticeable dip in demand after NYE. Expecting lower demand Disney likely cut man hours in food service and lowered available reservations to match
Yeah, Disney isn't making enough to hire more people and give them quality pay. Optimization has reduced the ability of workers to have a breather in the day- and thus the end user experience as workers seem spent all the time, and try as they might, can't muster a genuine positive interaction.
I'm glad you're talking about lightning Lane and pirates. It's damaged pirates. The way the line stretches out into the bridge is terrible. And how you can no longer wait back in the little alley, by the door, and knock on the door. It's a shame. It's small things like that that really make Disneyland. LL = 👎👎 I'll be there next Monday 🤘
If you are in the single rider line at Tiana's, And they put you in the front seat do you have to ride there? I will be solo so would like to do the single rider but no way I'm sitting in front seat. 😂😂 I know other single rider lines you go where they put you, but I do not want to get soaked. I suppose I'll just have to go through the regular line.
Just a heads up, this video was recorded on Monday, prior to the LA fires. While we mention the wind, the big winds that caused the fires had not yet arrived in Southern California.
As a SoCal resident I have plans to go Sunday but it depends on the weather
Stay safe. Love to all the Disney family from up north.
Prayers for all affected by the fires.
My heart goes out to the fire victims! Fresh Baked is my happy place.❤️

My dad used to say "bet ya dollars to donuts" all the time. he passed unexpectedly, recently... made me smile to hear you say that today! thank you.
So sorry that you just lost your dad ❤
36:05 like you said, a lot of attractions are off-line & DL is worried where to put folks. Also, this might be the first day DL is able to lower staffing & give CMs a break after working extra shifts during peak holiday time.
Dave your the only place I go to for extensive ‘Tree’ Disney coverage.
Loving it 😂
I wish Disney kept the parks at that low of capacity all of the time
With a ticket price to match. If there's one thing that Disney is most definitely not doing it's undercharging, despite what their COOO might think.
@Riceball01 it's under charging when you look at tickets to other entertainment.. professional sports, Broadway show. The cost per hour is actually pretty good.

IALSO ALWAYS go Left!!! Got that from David....
I love OG Disneyland more than anything new and shiny!!
Love these walk and talks, I think it is the best of FreshBaked! It is the closest you get to actually being there.
Hope you and your family are safe from the Wildfires 🙏🏻

Is it possible that the reduced reservation availability is due to daily staffing capabilities?
Great show today, Fresh Baked! It looks like it's a nice day to be a guest in the parks. Fresh Baked!

I’m going January 22nd and 23rd. This gives me hope that it won’t be too crowded.
We were there that day and looking for you. We used your tips and tricks and had a great rope drop and overall day!
As it was the last day of holiday I was wondering if there were going to be a lot of people showing up after work to see the fireworks, and do whatever holiday things they could do. Maybe that is part of why it was sold out.
of course I look at those lines and think to myself that is too crowded for me :)
32:00 HEar the Train Tracks?? That squeak Normal? Hope it gets fixed on next repair, or is it just the way it is now?
Maybe a computer glitch in the reservation system? They know how many tickets they sold, there is no way they intentionally locked it to single day ticker buyers and kept it locked. Unless they knew somehow in advance they would have staffing problems.

Add this too ride closures and such, and you have a “slow” day in the park.
Wow didn’t except this thought it would be more crowded
Another Problem on that monday was that Matterhorn Bobsleds was down all day until about 5:30 pm.
I hope your family is safe and healthy
My family is sick and in danger!
January 6th is the Epiphany also known as Three Kings day and that marks the end of the Christmas Holiday calendar for some folks.
Just here to say this is absolutely the case for Latin America. I can’t speak for all countries but kids went back to school today in Mexico.
Have you thought that maybe after the holidays they give employees time off, so they don't schedule as many cast members, so in order to be able to still run smoothly with fewer cast members that they cap the tickets as opposed to some conspiracy against key holders?
49:57 Only thing I see is the SKYWAY, in my imagination and hopeful thoughts about the maybe future...
I love that bench!! We watch the parades from that spot!!
So, most of the reservations are going to Magic Key people who don't come in till evening. Wednesday was quiet in the morning for two of our party. In the evening all 4 of us went back an it was pretty crowded.
I always start my day from Main Street to Adventureland. It makes me feel better knowing that you do that as well 😂
I was there on Monday and have another theory - besides rides being offline and dining capacity down. Seems to me that people simply showed up to the parks late on Monday. Why? Maybe since it was the last day of Christmas lights, people wanted to experience the parks at night - so they simply showed up late.

The Haunted Mansion ride will always be busy because it’s one of the best rides in the park. Too bad that all of the Haunted Mansion movies are terrible.
Inspire Key is now completely unavailable through 1/20, with 1/24-1/26 also gone.
We went on 12/30 and usually don't do Fantasyland but all the rides were short - Rise was 2 hrs long.
Haha that guys shirt at 1:00:25 hashtag broke with the mickey logo
You mentioned the intensity going into Bayou Country and I noticed there were strollers parked on either side of the path which may have contributed a bit.
It is very true that Pirates should be taken off of MLL. Typically, at night (esp during Fantasmic), Pirates standby is usually between 5-15 minutes.
Could have been a staffing meeting/training day they didn't want to fill the park but still have a lot of staff available?
A lot of schools in the area didn’t go back til Tuesday is probably why Christmas went to Monday
33:00 Bright Green, don't like. I think the old green darker green is better, would love to see Clear water.
Indiana Jones probably does tend to overextend the times. It said 45 minutes for us, but we were done in about 30.
lol i can see myself in the background
I was there on Monday and all the wait times were lower the posted wait times.
I’m absolutely so happy. It’s like a video after video this morning. Yay.🥳🥳🥳🥳
😂 "Disneyland Fantasyland is 100% always right.. what just happened?"😂😂 That was funny.
lol the timing.
Please find out why there are tiny plastic babies hidden all over throughout the Small World ride.
Hey Fresh Baked!!
Let's hope they get a new tree planted at Dumbo! And by the way, did the luggage cart ever return to the Main St. train station?
I need to know why they removed that beautiful tree at Casey Junior!!
Boy, I wish I could pick a not so busy day like today to go to Disney.
They delay the decorations this long so as to cover Orthodox Christmas on January 7th. Orthodox New Year is January 14th.😊
Hi David, what kind of camera and gimbal are you using? The picture is nice and crisp and very steady.
I’m guessing 20 minutes from wait sign to vehicle at Alice
I believe the river floor is painted green prior to filling with water. It's not the water color.
why is it green today when it was not green 2 weeks ago?
They dont paint the bottom green. Its probably a change in the dye color they are using
It's like Disney is gaslighting us with all the changes and manipulations and complexities. Gone are the simple times.
WILL YOU BE AT THE FOOD AND WINE SHOW WHEN IT OPENS ? ❤😊 love your content!!
Lol. Food and wine "show"
I disagree with you about the Pirates Lightning Lane.
I predict the next Disneyland report to be even less crowded. Why? Big influx of Magic Keys in January 2024 and lots of folks won't be renewing.
You know 11:20 is still the morning lol
Hope it’s not busy if I go last week of April!
If only you coul have a drone in the park so that you can stay on the bench and have eyes in the sky!
but then we'd never find him
About the pirates of the Caribbean fast pass line. I hope Disneyland corporate executives didn’t lie and they take Pirates of the Caribbean off lightning lane. I absolutely hate being lied to. Disney should not lie to us. Walt would be disgusted if they lied to us.
Maybe tons of cast members called in sick? That was part of it right? To ensure they had enough staff?
I wonder if the park will close with all these fires. Priority being all the poor folks in need down there of course...however i have a trip planned for January 14th! Haha
Can my SoCal resident friend buy a SoCal resident ticket for me to use coming from NorCal or do they check my ID? Any info is helpful. Thank you!
ID's will be checked at the gate.
Disney doesn't know how many tickets they sold on any given day?
Disney has been getting it wrong for a long time. The management is tripping over themselves trying to figure the formula out “again” but it’s their overthinking to efficiently squeeze every penny that blinds them. It’s sad because I liked Disney pre-covid.
Stay safe from the wildfires David
Sorry... what is a "B roll"? Thank you for posting the fire update 🙏
short video clips that are used as overlays while talking to the camera.
Guess for Alice: 9 minutes
Is it that magic keys aren’t as available or that more people are using magic keys
LL = 👎👎
I'll be there next Monday 🤘
Its Tier 2, next.
If you are in the single rider line at Tiana's, And they put you in the front seat do you have to ride there? I will be solo so would like to do the single rider but no way I'm sitting in front seat. 😂😂 I know other single rider lines you go where they put you, but I do not want to get soaked. I suppose I'll just have to go through the regular line.
my guess for Alice 35 min
Do you get tired of people shouting Fresh Baked?
not at all.
