      @@JamailvanWestering That's exactly what trent does. I'm confused by this. A problem as mentioned by OP is that there aren't that many players in front of trent because of the midfield profile although Bellingham does occasionally make runs between the defence.
      If you look to make a pass centrally you won't find players in front of you aside from Kane who isn't the fastest striker around. If you play it down the flank, you have foden and saka. Foden wasn't playing great and rarely made good runs in behind so the only real option was saka. And trent did make good passes to him but England then only had kane in the box.

    It is because Southgate doesn't have the tactical nuance to use TAA in that area, he can't just shove him in midfield, he is assigned a series of tasks, occupying the half space, interchanging with the winger, coming out of defence. His role in Liverpool is plastic, and the team as a whole adapts to different situations on the pitch, while in England the team is much more unidimensional. We can see that with Trippier as well.

    They have club sides that designed to facilitate the unique qualities these players have and they thrive in the club sides. But in the national team, they all look... LOST. Just take Bellingham for example... He was doing soo much defensive work coz he doesn't have the big, strong Defenders and DMFs like Real Madrid... Nor does he has good runners of the ball like Vini or Rodrygo... There was just Saka. And Saka sure was enough for Bellingham to score a goal.

    I have never in my life seen a player under more scrutiny that Trent has been in these past few days. I’m fully convinced this has nothing to do with football anymore. You all should give it a rest…honestly. It’s like he is being setup to fail and the media pile on is almost like they have proactively chosen their scapegoat if things don’t go to plan.
    If anything, Southgate should be the one to be under scrutiny for his team selection that did not play to Trent’s strengths (off-ball runners in to the box). Saka was the only outlet on the right and was double teamed so was not as effective after the only goal. England having only 6 shots all game is NOT down to Trent. He took at least 2 of those shots. All this lazy punditry and analysis is in bad taste. I’m not having it. The manager is always on responsible for putting a team that functions properly in attack and defence. This much scrutiny on one player is just avoiding the bigger elephants in the room.

      I don't understand the hate for him especially from his own supporters, people seem to criticise him for a false narrative. When Liverpool won the champions league he was undeniably the best RB in the world. Last season he had the most tackles completed by a Liverpool player, yes his positioning can be poor but, that doesn't mean he isn't a world-class player. As others are saying, if you use this logic there are other England players nobody is questioning who should be dropped. Additionally, what’s not being discussed here is what the alternative is, or, in the language of this video, what they’re “deciding not to do.” Mainoo and Gallagher are the other options, and while the former adds some defensive intuition, and the latter adds some legs, neither was close to better needed than the threat Trent presented whenever he had the ball, and the way he and Bellingham worked off of each other in the flow of the game.

    Before I watch the short I would like to comment that it didn't work because of hiw England were trying to play. They werw trying to hold on to the ball and that's not how Trent plays. For Liverpool whenever he gets tge ball his first thought is to see if he can pass the ball forward but watching him for England he was reluctant to do so which nade him come off as timid.
    I think he will be better suited when England are chasing a game that way you have the front players more willing to make rubs in behind

    No English player gets more criticism than Trent. Other players on the pitch were much worse than him, and no one will talk about them being dropped after one game. I'm surprised Trent even bothers to play for us, considering how easily the media piles on him for easy content.

    Very biased by only highlighting the miscontrolled ball and Not pointing out that the whole Team was too static. Shouldve picked Gordon at LW. Foden was way too deep and Not making any Runs. If you want another snoozefest than of course Play Mainoo or gallagher instead of actually working on the issues. Trent should be In the Team, preferrably at RB

    • @RL-
      @RL- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ironic you say "snoozefest" considering Gallagher singlehandedly upped the energy and tempo levels when he came on, while everyone else just wanted to sit in front of the penalty spot and hack the ball away just 60 minutes into the game lmao

    • @RL-
      @RL- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jannis4547 ironic again considering that setting up to facilitate his inclusion in a position that isn't suitable makes the team worse, and he didn't do any of that anyway. Zero SCA, one defensive error, 100% dribble failure and barely any passes compared to the guy next to him. The only real thing of note was an interception, and the fact he failed to get the ball off someone twice so he just pushed him over, even though Serbia was an aerial threat and we should have minimised fouls as much as possible.
      I'm sure Alexander-Arnold's 49% long ball accuracy will offer "so much more" to England in this tournament.

    • @jannis4547
      @jannis4547 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RL- you obviously can include Gallagher but it doesnt fix Englands problems at all. Thats my point. Gallagher is more suited to playing midfield yes, but there would still be a lack of runners. Foden is the first one i would bench. And why cant you argue without saying "ironic"?

    • @RL-
      @RL- 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jannis4547 he's the first one I'd bench too. But I still wouldn't find a way to force Alexander-Arnold into midfield. If he gets time and space to play because the opponent sits off, his long balls (which are overrated) don't have anyone either big or fast enough to aim for and the other side will likely sit back and pack the space around the box with taller players anyway. If it's against a better side that might let us have space behind to play into, he's not going to help control the midfield when we need that after sustained periods of pressure, or if we nick a lead. It'll be more like what happened last night. If he's at right back, at least he can stay wider and offer a more natural form of width if all of our right wingers are going to invert. And the centre will be safer. But even there, it's like you'd need a five at the back with Walker pushing out to cover him when he goes AWOL.
      If we need a goal desperately and we're pushed right up into the opponent's half while they hold on, and we get more suitable targets on, maybe he'd be useful. If we have taller players out there and we're getting a lot of set pieces, he could be useful. Same if we somehow keep getting success in behind a team because they're half asleep. But everyone's trying to adjust the side to force him in when he doesn't offer a clear strength that plays to others' strengths anyway. That's why he doesn't "offer more". It's a different story when you have a world record goalie, world record centre back and even a midfielder who's been converted to do more donkey work covering just to enable him.

    He should start RB, with just Rice in DM, then when he wants to step into midfield he can do so unmarked with time and space (how he is at Liverpool), and the defence can move to cover behind him. Him starting in the middle just doesn't work, he has to be coming in from the right in a "hybrid" position, hes neither a RB or CDM, he needs the freedom to be both.
