Also, any chance you would consider a follow up visit to that Summit resort place in The Poconos? Checking in but also perhaps showing some things you didn't the first time around? My favorite video of yours and also made me obsessed with the place. Humble fan suggestion.
So crazy, I just was thinking about the elkmont, especially the wonderland club, then you post this. Thank you. I looked it up as i was watching this, and I found that some arsonist burned it to the ground. Heart breaking.
Wood in those houses was probably treated. Varnished or painted, but even with today's wood lacquers you have to paint every few years on outside surfaces, even those that are never touched by anything. Elements wreck untreated wood. So it's not hard to imagine that when roofs leak for decades wood becomes completely rotten and collapses on itself.
You were the first urban explorer I ever watched and I still think you are the best. Your filming technique and storyline are always the best. Thanks for going back to this style of filming. It's as if you were sitting in an easy chair relating a "tall tale" to a group of friends or family. Top notch work!!!
I love urbex type activities but 99% of urbex videos are utter shit, either because they're about showing off, or trying too hard to be full of action and drama. I really like that yours convey the atmosphere, quiet, stillness and suspense of exploring an abandoned place.
I used to have pretty bad anxiety and watching Dan's Quiet Time and Dead Mall videos always helped me calm down. There's just something so relaxing about them but still very entertaining. 💖
I did some research on that place a while back and it's abandoned because the land was leased from the government, and once the lease was up the first time they were granted a 15 year extension but after that they refused to extend it further and the 25 or so people that were still living there had to leave. Also, you didn't get to see the main clubhouse (the big white building you saw was the hotel/ballroom), because it collapsed in a storm due to neglect years back and the park service removed the remains. Awesome video!
Dear Dan, my favorite TH-cam therapist, I want to thank you so much for making your videos, specifically this one because it hits home to me. I live in Florida and don't like to go outside much because it's so horrendous 90% of the year and nature is one of the things that brings me true peace and happiness, so I spend a lot of time being pathetic in my room watching TH-cam in front of a fan.. but earlier this year I was admitted to a residential mental health treatment center in Sevierville, Tennessee, which is also located inside of the national park, and I was there for about 7 weeks before I returned home, and what you say in this video about the fresh air of the Smoky Mountains and how you just want to bottle it and keep it forever, it really connects with me, because on my first morning at the treatment center, I went outside and took the biggest breath in and just closed my eyes and listened to the birds chirping their "cheeseburger" song and I knew it was the beginning of the rest of my new life... I really truly appreciate you, your sincerity, your intelligence, your sense of humor, and most of all, your fucking BALLS.
Dan, this was so lovely. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed it. The serene sound of the wind, your voice and the natural decay in the mountains. This is why I subscribed to you so many years ago, these videos are genuinely pieces of art. I am so surprised it took you so long to upload this beautiful footage. Sending love from Minnesota, Julia ❤
It'll be awfully hard to get in to those homes with heavy machinery in the second village, the tree growth is too dense. They'd have to do some clearing first. And I highly doubt they'd want people going in to manually dismantle them, that's really only feasible if a building is still mostly structurally sound, which those definitely are not. Those may well just be allowed to fall back into the earth.
Interesting story; I was camping at the elkmont campground in June of 2016, and wanted to explore the wonderland hotel, but it had sadly burned down, apparently in the spring of '16. So to see your footage captured just before this grand building was lost to history is really special.
Wow! So very incredible and unique! So glad I just now discovered your videos. I’m a huge haunt fan and also a huge ASMR fan as well. You got a new subscriber!
One of my favorite bed time videos. I even watch some of the more "scary" type videos just because your voice is so... calming. You have such amazing gifts and talents and I'm glad you share them with all of us
Awesome!! I'm so glad that you are doing this intentionally. You have the perfect voice for ASMR. When I'm not watching spooky video's, I'm watching ASMR video's. Now you have given me both ❤️ 😴💤 Thank you 😊
Love watching your videos walking through these old "gems"... I imagine the people that have stayed there... all the dinner parties and get togethers that had taken place over the years... lives were lived there, it would be amazing to hear stories, see photos of when they were alive and vibrant...
I SERIOUSLY need these Dan if you can continue! I was on Patreon but don’t work any longer but want to get back on there as soon as I can. Thank you for all you do!
Very much enjoy your Quiet time videos Dan. A quiet glimpse into the past. It's ashame these mountain retreats couldn't be restored or recreated into retreats today. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing Dan. Yes, I crindged for you walking on those porch planks. Greetings from Ky.
I love Elkmont! I discovered it in the summer of 2017 so the Wonderland was already demolished. They actually demolished a lot of the homes last summer😑
Henry River Mill Village is such a cool place , they have closed everything up and they started charging for guided tours, glad to be able to see it before that happened, another very similar abandoned mill village in NC is Oakdale Mill Village in Jamestown NC its awesome as well !!
I'm signing up on your Patreon bc of these videos - although I do love ALL of your videos! These types of videos are amazing - helps my anxiety and I get to see old buildings. Keep up the great work.
Dan you are turning me on... Thanks now I can't sleep 😝 I love this quite time idea! It's so relaxing and enjoying to watch. Thank you for all the hard work you do! I have been watching you for almost three years now. I can't believe you don't have a billion subscribers!!! 🤗🤗 Keep up the amazing work!!
Henry River Mill Village was purchased and turned into a Paid Tour Attraction, Luckily i was able to film it before that happened, but at least it is now being maintained to some degree !
I’m so happy I found your channel! This has helped calm me down at night. You’re awesome! I’ve been struggling with Anxiety and have always been fascinated with old buildings. 😬☺️👏🏼
Hi Dan, I’m so happy to find that you still have your abandoned Chanel. I thought that you were only doing dirty rooms. If I may suggest for these abandoned videos, maybe you can include low sounds of nature with your soft voice as you tell us about your explorations. Love your vide’o’s! Thank you so much for taking us on your adventures. ❤️
I know i have said it before but I LOVE these the most ....its like ASMR but better ....Thank you so so much for bringing this series back .....my only problem is while yes ASMRist vids can put me to sleep I force myself to stay awake for these :) I dont want to miss the adventure
This was quite enjoyable, quiet, calming video plus I enjoy hearing the history, you take the time to read up on places you film and it's refreshing, I envision how the home once looked and how people must of enjoyed their surroundings 😄😋👍...a interesting look back in time for sure!.... Thank you Dan 💗💋---------->>>> Thumbs up! 👍
I really appreciate you sharing such awesome footage with us all, and especially how much effort you put in to getting such high quality. I’m not really sure how to explain why urban exploration videos mean so much to me, but they’re so interesting and invoke a lot of feelings. Your videos in particular help soothe my anxiety by giving me something to focus on like the stories of these places. When I’m in a better financial position I plan on becoming a patron for sure. But in the meantime, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your content and the effort you put in.
*OMG!! These put me to sleep right after my nightly cannabis toke!! A perfect Dan Bell video for me would be one that employs ASMR techniques and Dan Bell's softly-spoken VO narration.*
This is a very good idea. And much respect for being creative with your videos. I guess I may be weird but I like the sound of the gravel and the camera sounds and just natural lower talking rather than whispering because it sounds forced I guess? Nonetheless, great video
If you plan to do more of these types of videos I seriously would love to see You, Rick, Brennen, and Jake all go to Centralia, PA and explore that ghost town, it'd make for one heck of an adventure and would be quite creepy too (there's a coal fire that is constantly burning under the town in the mine, that's why almost all the residents have left it save for a handful that stayed). It'd be great seeing you all explore that (just be safe and take care if you do) and even if you could maybe interview some of the people that still live there and why they choose to stay.
there's actually not much left to see in Centralia. Most of the abandoned homes are gone now. The coal fire, though still burning, isn't emitting smoke and gasses like it was. There's really not much left to see anymore.

The National Park opened Elkmont to the public a couple of years ago and they have guided tours, etc now! Lots of public backlash after they said they would tear the down. The lodge/hotel is essentially gone but there are still many of the homes and things on one of the main little roads.

Oh nice! I swear to fuck I had no idea you even did a podcast. Following too many channels or I'm just out of it. Probably both. Yeah both.

Dan, when did you shoot the Wonderland footage? I had heard the hotel section burned down back in 2016 or so...

I can picture Dan drinking scotch and wearing a velvet smoking jacket when he narrates these videos.🥃😎
L.B. BEE ho says he doesn’t already do that lol.
I can picture him also doing that while filming 😁
After giving the sedatives to calm Rick
Joshua Ayres there is no calming Rick lol.
Much joy.

Thanks, Dan, for taking me on your journey. Love the old houses, and I can smell the fresh air.
The first houses in the beginning of the video is where they filmed District 12 from the Hunger Games. The bakery was where Peta worked/lived.
Dan you have such a great voice, you could read the phone book and I would listen!
Abandoned ASMR is a perfect descriptor! Love these videos
Dan, you honestly turn off my panic attacks with these. A thousand blessings on your beautiful soul.
Bonus points for using the Hunger Games site.
There is beauty in abandoned buildings and this video is a perfect showcase of that.
You are amazing Dan Bell! Thank you for all your efforts to entertain us and to help us relax! Much appreciated! From western Australia xx

Dan ASMR before....I certainly hope he doesn't haunt my dreams. ;)
Keep up the amazing work Dan. I'm a straight up Bell addict!
You have a wonderful talent for relaxation! I am at complete peace. More ASMR!
I always end up coming back to these when I need to chill down to go to sleep. Love all the new stuff too!! This is just so soothing 😊
Great video Dan, I have always loved your videography, and your narration really completes this video!
