I've never tried a 300 year old MRE like this one, but the ones I have tried you actually boiled the little individual bags to heat up the entrees, it doesn't help with the flavor but at least heated the sandwich was a bit better, obviously not everyone could just heat the meals during the civil war where this MRE came from though
Not sure if you'll see this but if you get another MRE of this same kind, or get another chocolate protein drink, in the army we used to turn it into pudding by putting less water into it about 1/3 less, it tastes like brownie batter instead of protein powder. also do not eat a very cold first strike bar, you can very easily break your tooth on it. also, if drinking the protein powder add your coffee grounds to it.

It's interesting you didn't get a main course meal in your MRE. It was mainly the snacks you get with an MRE but missing the actual meal itself. You should try another MRE with a main course. (I suggest Beef Stew or The Chili & Macaroni). The way you heat them up is very interesting. Some of the main meals were great and others were absolutely terrible. Anyways, love the content my man!
