Just to back up Farruh I i want to add that Uighurs are citizens of China but ethnically they are uighurs. Uighurs share different culture, religion, language etc. I am citizen of Canada but my ethnicity is uighur. I do not call myself Chinese!

Some people like you may call themselves Uighur Canadian. It is same, some Uighurs living in China may consider themselves Uighur Chinese. Chinese can be considered as nationality as well.
