I will never forget the storm of 77 3feet of snow 15 to 20 foot drifts was never so happy in my life 3 months no school. EVERYONE took care of each other sharing food and necessities. we would drive our snowmobiles around to our neighbours and share everything with each other those were the good days. Make sure to explain a 1 foot snow fall is like. Shoveling the snow out of your drivway for hours with cold hands and as soon as your done the city plow comes by and backfills your driveway with hard icey snow.
In those situations while shoveling the snow we just have to look up and see all our neighbours suffering through it the same! The mix of comaraderie and endorphins while trudging through the snow can be quite exhilarating!! Knowing that even if your car doesn't start or if your stuck in ice that someone is always nearby (granted you don't live off the grid) and willing to help is one of many reasons why I adore my country :)
@@DailyDoseofSpace. Your funny. One CM of snow you could use a broom to brush off the driveway. I bet after shovelling 2 feet of snow out of a driveway you would not be saying I could shovel all day. By the way, after you shovel the driveway the municipal road snowplough truck come by and you now have a 3-foot high drift of snow that will take you an hour of shovelling. Next day it happens again. If you live in Canada you have a gas snow blower, you put snow tires on your vehicle in November.

I always say I wasn't a real Canadian until I moved from Vancouver to Edmonton. I love BC and the rainy warm weather, but it's nothing like the rest of the country in winter!
Very nice video. I’m really glad to see so many canadian winter videos popping up over the past 3-4 years. Winter has always been one reason I love Canada. I’ve lived in Edmonton my whole life, which gets to -30 to -40 for 2-3 months or so in winter, but It’s not real winter without severe sub zero temperatures and a ton of snow. I heard Calgary was supposed to get 60 cm of snow recently. I wish you two luck :)
Where are you guys, cause from where I'm from -25 is seasonal and kids still go to school in -30. They just might not have outdoor recess if there's added wind chill. Something I thought was standard in the country shocked me to find that other provinces close schools at or near -30. Sure you gotta bundle up, but it makes -20 balmy when you get it, to the point where after a cold snap (with -40 wind chill) you find double digit temperatures spring jacket (read thin jacket) weather. Ps, you can survive the winter without central heating, it's called wood heat, like with a wood stove. I know lots of people who have done it for years, and it cuts down on bills because you don't have to pay for heat.
We're in Calgary and I don't think the schools close here that easily either. I lived up North most of my life and we definately didn't get school cancelled often. Wood can definately work for cabins and rural homes possibly, but if everyone did that, there'd be no trees left haha. And it would also be expensive. But I do love a wood fire when I'm at a cabin. So cozy :)
@@MustDoCanada several people in my area heat with wood, only taking dead fall. Been doing it for over a decade and the trees are still flourishing. But yes, you do need a lot of wood to heat your home for the winter, but that really depends on how well insulated your house is and if there are any draughts. One set of friends has to stoke the fire every hour or so just to keep it going. Which means through the night as well, but their house is on the breezy side. Whereas another couple get away with a day time fire and stay toasty of the residual heat at night. And that bit on the schools closing, I was just repeating what I heard on the news. The fact that the reporters were shocked people in my area still send kids out to recess in weather that would make adults in some places cower in frostbite fear and give kids days off school until the cold snap is over. And yes, if everybody in the cold parts of the world did heat with wood and wood alone, we'd not last many winters but man, nothing beats warming up by a fire after being outside in winter, especially when you're unlucky enough to have no choice about going out to care for animals in -50 wind chill.

I agree with you on the weather. I can't take that kind of cold and it's also painful for me. I prefer warmer weather. The only place that I would move to in Canada is British Columbia which has a much more milder climate than the rest of Canada.
Born and raised Canadian in northern Alberta here. I walk about an hour to work in all seasons. Preparation and respect for the cold is key.Loose layers are warmer than tight layers . -40c,=-40f. If it's cold, the water will kill you so fast. And fun fact,

We were there a whole month, but would like to come back and see Mumbai, and the south too
hmmm, all can be pretty harsh. The only mild areas are Vancouver, Kelowna and Vancouver Island area. Calgary is actually quite mild considering it's proximiity to the mountains. Other than that, generally speaking, the more north the more cold. And the more near a body of water, the more humid (which feels colder)
No, that's not really an issue. However, the icy roads can make it hard to stop. If you were to slam on the brakes on a slipper road, you wouldn't stop at all. You'd keep going and lose control. So, you really need to be more cautious and not slam on brakes but rather slow down gradually
Hi Guys, loved the video. We visited BC and Alberta last northern summer. Had a great time in a fantastic truck camper. Here in Australia our winters are never as severe for most of the country. As with Canadians heading far south for your winter we try to head north for ours. Generally anywhere above the Tropic of Capricorn provides a warm to hot winter. Where we live it might get to minus 6C occasionally on a winter’s night. Snow is very rare. A pleasant winter’s day is around 12 to 14 C. Some winter I hear you say! Again thanks for the great video.

@@muktagaur4105 I'm not sure we'll be able to that soon, unfortunately. We will try but we have a bunch of videos we're working on right now. However, I would say it's important to have warm waterproof boots, gloves, and a touque. I don't tend to wear anything over my pants unless I'm skiing or spending significant time outdoors. A good jacket is good too, but at least you can wear layers for the upper bodyy. For general day to day activities, I just wear normal pants like jeans, light winter boots, jacket, gloves, and a touque or ear-muffs. If I'm out doing an activity like skiing or snowshoeing or something like that, then I might add thermal underwear (pants and shirt) and snow pants. You might want to check a thrift store as well, especially since kids grow all the time. Probably good deals!
No, definitely not. It depends on where you are and how big your home is. My parents have a normal suburban home, so about 1600 sq ft 2-storey and it's around $300 per month...
Great video! Just one question....what do you guys do if the heater stops working and you suddenly realise that you're freezing cold....and what if it's during the night??....
You'd have to call an emergency "heater guy" to come fix it. It happens all the time to people. I don't think it's happened to us, but we've had issues with our apartment building and someone has to come right away. Pipes start freezing and that sort of thing, which can cause some major issues

I'm from Scotland and I wanna move here to test my strength on the cold, in the winter here it can get up to -15 degrees C. But I go outside in shorts and a hoodie and I don't really feel the cold, so I wanna feel the difference here.
haha wow, well in that case, you might like it! Our avergae temp is probably around -20 but it definately gets to -40 at times
Where are you in Canada? It seems we have the same winter temp -54 degree C we experienced here 😁 it was awful yet fun.
oh wow, we're in Calgary now which does not get that cold. We might get one week of -30 but it's more likely to be around -20. It's actually 0 right now. But I lived in Fort.McMurray for 20 years. Where r u?
Must Do Canada I’m from Philippines and 6 years living in Yorkton Saskatchewan. Tonight the temp is -7 and feels like -12 not bad so far 😁 Thank you for replying my comment. Take care
I live in Vancouver. I never felt like living in Canada until I went to Calgary several days ago and saw the real Canada in Winter.
haha yes, colder for sure. Although those damp days in Van are tough
;;k"lK'[l
I always say I wasn't a real Canadian until I moved from Vancouver to Edmonton.
I love BC and the rainy warm weather, but it's nothing like the rest of the country in winter!
You wonder why real estate is so expensive in Vancouver ? Cause it's not in Canada.
Hi, l am a Kenyan citizen female how can l make it there as a nanny
The sunshine smile melted me.
I feel we need to watch it again to see it haha. Thank you
Very nice video. I wish you two luck :)
haha true, Edmonton is very much a Canadian winter! And yes, more winter videos coming!
@Zayan Tahir haha, it was close to -40 but only a week.
It's amazing!
Thanks for sharing with us your winter's routine.
Could you please tell us the name of the thermal pant as I could not find it on amazon or if you can post the link to buy it. I found only the normal ones, not the one you have with special layer. Thank you so much.

True. Most of Canada's coast is much milder.
Hi guys! Beautiful video! Amazing nature 🙌 especially in winter
I love you guys!!! Such a joyful, cheerful and lovely couple. Thanks for the video.
Thanks!
This is the big reason why I can’t move to Canada. in the winter it’s really bad but it’s so beautiful I know Canada can’t control their weather any Canadians that are offended please don’t I love your Country!! ❤️
I agree with you on the weather. I can't take that kind of cold and it's also painful for me. I prefer warmer weather. The only place that I would move to in Canada is British Columbia which has a much more milder climate than the rest of Canada.
@@boricuachica Yes!
@@boricuachica Yes I agree.
As a canadian, I am not offended! We know the cold can be terrible here and we dont blame anyone for wanting to stay somewhere warm! 😊

Born and raised Canadian in northern Alberta here. I walk about an hour to work in all seasons. Preparation and respect for the cold is key.Loose layers are warmer than tight layers . -40c,=-40f. If it's cold, the water will kill you so fast. And fun fact,
You people have shared a lot of positivity.

Beautiful video presentation of winter in canada .... I really enjoy watching this video , excellent 👍😁
Thank you so much
How much do you pay for heating? It must take a lot to heat a house at 23C when you have -30 outside..
hmmm, tough to say because it depends on the size of house and where. But some of my family that live in a standard suburban house (1500-2000 sqft) is probably $300/month
Wow! Amazing place with beautiful snow.

@@MustDoCanada Ok ...How did you find India?
@@kavitansingh2702 Very interesting. Of course, it can be challenging too, especially Delhi!
@@MustDoCanada yes that's my humble request to all foreigners coming to India that please don't go to Delhi unless you have someone you can trust ... otherwise Mumbai is the best place ...eg. Places like Andheri, Bandra, Khar, Santa Cruz , Churchgate ..in short the Western line ...I really want to create this awareness
@@kavitansingh2702 Yeah Delhi was so crazy in terms of scams. But once we left, to Agra, Rajasthan area, and even Varanasi, it wasn't so bad. Hi, I'm from Brazil and I love Canada
That's awesome. Brazil is still on our list for places to visit
It’s really nice 👍
I love too such winters
Southern Ontario is same weather as Michigan and a lot of USA states
It's a lot colder here in Eastern Ontario though.
Hi which are the months you have extreme cold? Is it cold throughout?
Typically, the coldest months are November to March, but April and November can also be cold....
Great job as usual. It seems soon I will visit Canada for holiday but definitely not in the winter 😊
haha yeah, it's not for everyone :)
Yea if you're not used to massive snowbanks literally everywhere, then don't come to Canada during the winter. Summer and Fall are best for tourism.
Is the situation same in whole Canada? Which province has the harshest winter ?
hmmm, all can be pretty harsh. The only mild areas are Vancouver, Kelowna and Vancouver Island area. Calgary is actually quite mild considering it's proximiity to the mountains. Other than that, generally speaking, the more north the more cold. And the more near a body of water, the more humid (which feels colder)
I love to watch you guys. I really hope you guys make videos more often.
Thank you so much! We'd love to make more and hope we can do it much more often
what about the vehicle brakes. Do they freeze ? What to do when they freeze ?
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Yeah, we have some family near Perth. They saw some snow once near the mountains there. But that's about it. New Zealand gets a bunch eh?
Its so beautiful. I think i will muster up the courage to come over
haha yes!
OMG

This video is quite interesting as I am planning to migrate to Canada in a year or two......
great video, please also suggest where to get clothes for winters and how to select them for mild and harsh winters.
Good idea! We will do that this winter
@@MustDoCanada pls do that before Nov using your own experience. It would help new immigrants like us to do shopping. If possible pls include shopping tips for kids like ours. Thanks in advance.
@@silverfox441 lol, I can't believe you took time to reply but didn't bothered to read and understand the query.
@@silverfox441 lol
I presume you do not turn your heating off in the winter. Just curious on how much you spend on gas per month?
No, definitely not. It depends on where you are and how big your home is. My parents have a normal suburban home, so about 1600 sq ft 2-storey and it's around $300 per month...
Great video! Just one question....what do you guys do if the heater stops working and you suddenly realise that you're freezing cold....and what if it's during the night??....
You'd have to call an emergency "heater guy" to come fix it. It happens all the time to people. I don't think it's happened to us, but we've had issues with our apartment building and someone has to come right away. Pipes start freezing and that sort of thing, which can cause some major issues
@@MustDoCanada woow... that sounds scary, have any such instances resulted in some serious mishappening ?
@@simplyInvent I mean, it hasn't happened to us. But I'm sure there has been stories of pipes bursting, which can cause some damage. But no one gets hurts. That wouldn't happen. Just damage to the home
@@MustDoCanada oh alright, thanks a tonne for the prompt response inspire of being such a big channel ...I love you videos btw even tho I recently discovered your channel. I have some more questions, it'd be really nice of you if you could reply...
How difficult is it for international students from middle East & Asia to adapt to the climate in Canada? Do they tend to fall sick initially?
@@simplyInvent I'm not sure, but my wife was an international student from Mexico. Saw snow for her first time. They all loved it a lot. It was just so different. It was just a small town but they loved being independent and experiencing the snow and nature.... No one got sick.
Where I live now , some day at midnight 34 °C , slept in my bed room at 30 °C with a fan that can not help anything except take a shower. Fishs in open pool die of too hot water at afternoon. If I stay at home not go to work. I will take a shower 3-4 times a day , 1. morning , 2. afternoon , 3. evening and 4. around midnight. Drinking at least 3 liters of water. Waiting for at early morning is just fine at minimum 27-28 °C. Maybe I think , you live in the freezer , l live in the heater.
