You were speaking to my soul about moving the manga and such. After about 3-4 moves I got tired of it and sold my entire manga collection. I consolidated to the 4 One Piece box set and Vagabond Viz Big Editions. The past couple years made me realize I had way too much and my collection was one thing, I don't regret it at all looking back at it.
I honestly can’t blame you. I’ve moved my collection many times and it was both fun at ALL for either of them times.
Love that hardcover shelf! Finally started reading Gal Gohan today like you suggested, read the first 3 volumes in one sitting 😂

I love this guy! Cracks me up. Watching this is making me dread move reorganizing in a couple months because we are putting window into our house to replace old outdated ones for better insulation. Not looking forward to it and I read American comics too so have a shit ton of omnibus as well. And have surround. Kind system might have to move too but not sure. Totally sucks

When I finally got all my manga in one location I considered doing completed series and then ongoing but for some reason I went with alphabetical order. Fortunately I have lots of space on some of the bookcases others not so much and shifting them is a pain. I may have to consider reorganizing them again, I can't believe I said that LOL. I like to listen to metal while doing my organizational tasks. Helps to pump me up lol.
I thought about doing alphabetical order but that would be a lot of shifting overall. And I ain’t built for that life lol

Yeah with Kodansha it really feels like they want to milk our money with those box sets. In my country the box sets are sometimes even more expensive than if you'd just buy each individual volume. Omnibuses give more value, but some omnibuses are just really ugly, or difficult to read with the spine staying nice.

Staying optimistic for the coming of KoF a new beginning I won't be disappointed if you don't want to but I'd be very happy to see it by the goat himself to do a review (that might be too much to ask) or just seeing it in a manga haul again it's ok if you don't want to but I still hold hope #brokeboigang

I completely understand when you have to reorganize your collection. It sucks when you have keep in mind of your finish series, ongoing, and pop series to add to the collection. For me, I have my bigger manga like Viz sigs in a different shelf and my hard cover I their own shelf also. Most of my manga is mostly the same which makes reorganizing easier.
Your organization method makes sense! I wish I could keep my bigger volumes on other shelves but I don’t have one to dedicate to it without disrupting the flow of the volumes on the shelf

I know how you feel Dark Sage about reorganizing manga. I don't do it often. Last time, I took everything off my shelves, cleaned my bookcase, divided them by what I'm keeping and getting rid of, then put everything back on it took me 2 hours. My lower back and bad hip was hurting like crazy.
I organize mine by finished, ongoing, incomplete, light novels, yaoi and selling/donate. Boxsets and mini boxsets I have it's own place for. Plus, I have to do everything after my daughter is asleep.
I don’t have the space for all my manga… but I keep getting more.

@@nagiiboo sadly this is the number 1 problem once you build up a hefty collection. Either you gotta get a bigger space or condense the collection.

Man I just got done last weekend recatalog my manga and wiping my selves and manga down. Got 517 vol now and got some new addition. Inside maria, rosario + vampire, couple vols of spice&wolf, 7th garden, some bakemonogatari, and neon genesis evangelion the shinji ikari raising project omnibus been added. I like to watch manga hauls and other utubers manga vids when I'm cleaning. My collection getting to big🤣🤣
Recataloging over 500 volumes?! Naw, I definitely would’ve been out lol
@The Dark Sage 🤣🤣🤣, took me like 2 days cause of work, and I was getting tired. Luckily, a lot some were omnibus, i just acutely break how many vols are in the omnibus when I put them in my computer. The funny part is I had old vols on my list I sold but forgot to delete, that's what made me take awhile🤣🤣

I put my Seventh Hokage and The Scarlet Spring (aka Vol 73) inside Naruto Box Set 1, because there is a bit of room in there.
I never tried that but I might have to if I’m in a crunch for space

I organize mine based on alphabetical order currently, but I'm getting really tired of having to shift my whole collection when I get one volume of Fire Force.
I think I'm gonna start doing mine how you do yours (completed up top, ongoing down below).
I should also probably but the box sets ones back in the box to save some room.
I wanted to do alphabetical but it’s a lot of shifting over time, which I don’t want to do. I highly recommend finished up top and everything else below it.

I got volume's 33 of my hero academia, volume 1 of undead unluck, volume 3 of dont toy with me miss nagatoro ordered and otw . And i should have kiju#8volume 5 arrive on the 28th .also on the 1st im planning on ordering a 6 cube storage shelf bookcase so i can have more room for more manga .

When you moved @thedarksage, what did you use to protect your books from weather? Did you wrap them in plastic or anything?
From weather? I moved on regular sunny days so I didn’t worry about that.

What type of shelves do you recommend getting for manga? My current bookcase is to small to fit all of mine and I'm looking for a nice size upgrade
If you move frequently and are just beginning, target shelves, which I use. If you have a permanent home and want LOTS of shelf space, the Billy Bookcase from IKEA. Target shelf is less than half the price of the billy!
