My husband was transferred to Texas in 2009. We lived in Arlington, TX until 2015. I loved our time there and hated leaving. Texans take this song seriously. It was my great honor to be welcomed and accepted by these wonderful people.

That’s an oldie but goodie. When I grew up in Texas, we were taught Texas history before US history. That helps to explain why so many of us are proud Texans first.

Johnny Lee has an amazing career. For a song that isn’t a duet, try “Lookin’ For Love”.
FYI - the lady in this song is Lane Brody.

Very special song for me. My parents had 3 daughters & we live in 3 different states - I live in Texas. When we put flowers on their graves we put a red rose, a pink rose, and a yellow rose. The yellow one represents me - the girl in Texas. Thanks for the video.

I’ve gotten to see Johnny Lee perform this Live with his daughter. It was so much fun. Not quite sure what got them going but something got them tickled and they giggled through part of it.
Got to meet both of them and they’re both very sweet.

The Yellow Rose Of Texas is a Very Old Song. That version has New Lyrics, tells a different story. It is a good remake, a good rewrite and worthy of the finest traditions of the age old melody. That said Look up the words of the traditional Ballad as well. Then you will know the roots of the new song you just heard. You see Don, That's what people did 100 years ago. They made up new words to old and familiar melodies. That's how the Star Spangled Banner ended up sounding like an old British drinking song. It borrowed the melody because everybody already knew the melody. The tune you know as God Save The Queen, On this side of the Pond we know as My Country T'is Of Thee. It's the same with the song you just played. Both the one you played and the traditional story the song tells are good.

As a native Texan I like the original better… I guess I’m just old school. We have a 237 acres ranch with 64 heads of cattle. My grandpa purchased it in 1946 after the war. It’s been handed down to me, and I could always use a ranch hand, so if you ever find yourself in Canton, Tx. Look me up. I’ll show ya how to hunt, fish, and ride like a Texan. Have you ever been snipe hunting?😂
