- In 1991 I was sleeping in my car, I had $35 to my name, everything I had could fit into two bags. I started talking to God about my dreams... Fast forward, out of nowhere I get a call from the Apollo asking me to come on the show. That same night I met D.L. Hughley, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Jamie Foxx for the first time. We were all comedians that went on that night. This is my Apollo story and how I became the host. This was my turnback moment.
Everybody has a turn back moment, it's the moment you can either go forward or give everything up. There's one guarantee if you give up it will never happen. Faith is everything, God is always on time, he's never too late.

This is a very powerful story!!! I know the struggle. I flunked the first grade, I grew up with a learning disability all throughout middle school and high school. I barely graduated high school. I was abandoned by family. In 2009 I was homeless with no money and living on the streets with no money having to beg for food. It gets worst. Several years ago I was shot 3 times close range, I was shot in the back of my head, I was shot in my stomach, I was shot in my groin area and when I got to the hospital I was pronounced dead and now I am a motivational speaker sharing my story. I know what it's like to suffer.

Now I have two degrees, drive 18 wheelers around the world, haven’t had a drink in 9 months. These videos really helped me get through the worse time of my life

I think the first time I saw Steve on TV was him hosting Showtime at the Apollo. This was late late night on NBC back in 1998 after SNL. Look how far this brother has gone.
My eyes got teary when he was speaking about the anxiety he felt when he was offered that gig and didn't have the money to fly. I've been there. I still have my shoes I used to walk in, just to always remind me of those times. Life is a battle.

I have also the similar story. I have 3 young kids at that time and their dad just passed away with cancer. I have nothing left. I and my kids are living in a rented small apartment. I was just started reading a Bible. And God told me to find this Church that my friend introduced me. Sometimes, hardship makes you closer to God. I never forget, since the day, God open my eyes thru this Church! Many doors was unlocked for me. God gave me everything what I have prayed & dreamed for. I am no perfect but I continue to live my faith with Him.🙏🏼

I remember Steve being in the Apollo and he was funnier in real life then he was on air. He reminded me of Richard Pryor although I never got the sense that he was copying Pryor. I’m so glad he has made it. He’s such an inspiration for me.

Man, I just starting watching his inspirational videos a couple of days ago. Just listening to this man did something to my soul. It really shook me. It’s never too late and you can always reach for better. Only way you can’t reach anything is if you never try. I just enrolled in school to continue my education today, Steve!!! It's an honour to hear this story of Steve Harvey, just as I am finishing my diploma in university. I have been through a lot already growing up without financial support. But I've learnt to stand up on my own, at least now I know that I have to work hard and go an extra mile to get the lifestyle I desire.
