My friend from active duty got assigned there as it is (was?) a TFI base, he loved it and he was from Florida, he retired out of there. I had enough fighter time and wasn't gonna commute up there from Mass for UTA's.
Government jobs will be coming to an end soon as the national debt will force massive unemployment in government sectors. Vermont is a beautiful state with high taxes.

There was some sort of competition among many Air Force crews from all over the county late last year. The Vermont team won 1st place.

It's funny how America has all these bases on the Canadian border from the days of the British when they would be handier on the southern border...
They're housed on the grounds of Burlington International Airport (BTV). Not a separate and distinct AFB.
I think they are located in the North in the event of a Russian attack coming over the North Pole, but that’s just a guess
