"Sketch History" was a gernan series with historical events (from Ceasar to Adolf) that were presented in hilarious contexts with modern comedy dialogues. With great sets and costumes. There were 6-8 regular actors who took on different roles. It's a shame that no more episodes were made!
I don't know who recommended this but this sketch is really not funny without context. One of Max Giermann's most famous impressions is that of actor Klaus Kinski who was notorious for his explosive temper. He is also a part of the Sketch History show where they do sketches about historical events. He's king Felipe here but really he's just doing his Klaus Kinski role translated into Spanish and some of the lines here are typical "Kinski" insults.
Its reenacting the moment when the Spanish king proposed to Queen Elizabeth (the first) and she refused. The Spanish had hoped to extend their power even further, by swallowing the - at this point - not so mighty British empire. The refusal led to the Spanish/English war, where the Spanish invented the submarine... :) It seems like Giermann is in his best "Klaus Kinsky mode", the parody of the famous - and pretty psycho - German actor of the 60s and 70s.
Max Giermann's Kinski parodies are always the rage. For an absolute classic, here he is, playing Klaus Kinski, announcing the winners of some German movie award (English subtitles available): th-cam.com/video/7O96B4cij10/w-d-xo.html However, in order to truly appreciate him, you'd probably best look for some actual Klaus Kinski footage.
I especially love the show "ZDF Sketch History" when it comes to "Firma Kassalek". "Firma Kassalek" refers to craftsmen from Berlin. It's said that people from the German capital have a special way of doing things. So in "Sketch History" the two craftsmen are placed in historical settings such as the construction of the Eiffel Tower, Great Wall of China or the ancient pyramids of Egypt. I find that very funny.
I just love sketch History. It´s so F***ing funny. Max Giermann is, for me, the best german comedian. There is one called "Hexe Kebekus auf dem Scheiterhaufen" it´s more like a song but so great.
Max Giermann often does a Klaus-Kinski-like character in the show. Also funny the stories about Kasalleck & Kasalleck a Berlin construction company who always apply for the tasks of constructing important buildings (pyramides, Eifel tower) then find reasons why the can't take the job and the idea of the buildings sucks but at the end doing it for the money.
Hey, have you come across Bastian Pastewka in your search for the best German comedy? In my humble opinion, he's one of the funniest and most entertaining comedians in Germany. His sitcom Pastewka ran for 10 seasons and was hugely popular. He played a fictionalised, exaggerated version of himself and it was absolutely brilliant!
ZDF-Sketch History is almost always brilliant, you can´t go wrong with it. Perhaps the episodes with Fa. "Karsallek" (the embodyments of german craftsmen attitude making an appearance in different historic contexts) are the ones with the most german content.
I think most interesting is whenever you know the historical background. It is nice to understand how well it fits and what is made up for an extra laughter.
Sketch History might be a copy of "Horrible Histories". Memorable are also Giermann as Kinski as one of the three wise men (of the nativity story), Giermann as returning intern under historic leaders (Napoleon Bonaparte, the Austrian Painter) or the "Drogenkloster" episode. Sadly, can't tell if there are proper translations available.
Sketch History is the best😂 They have so many great scenes and a pretty decent movie, even now my dad and i watch every episode on tv, even If we know them already. Definitly worth checking the other Sketches Out

One of my favorite sketches from Sketch History (unfortunately without Max Giermann) is “Ente, Auge, Zickzack ” (Duck, Eye, Zigzag), a parody about Cleopatra. One of my favorite episodes is “Kinski - The whole truth!”, a parody about the documentary by Werner Herzog about the production of the film Fitzcarraldo, the natives had offered Herzog to kill Klaus Kinski because he had raged so much. The Sketch History episode shows the exact opposite, Werner Herzog as a madman. Probably difficult to understand if you don't know the original documentary.
To understand the Klaus Kinski jokes you might want to watch these videos here. "Klaus Kinski - Fitzcarraldo fight" - th-cam.com/video/MPKODzv1PD4/w-d-xo.html or "Best of Klaus Kinski Ausraster" - th-cam.com/video/G5jMs_W7SdY/w-d-xo.html. Then you'll understand better how brilliantly Max Giermann parodies him. Greetings from Germany.

lol... You should watch Max Giermann as a student intern for Adolf Hitler from the same series! I would have recommended this several months ago, but unfortunately there was no option for English subtitles. It's also funny how German officers, together with Field Marshal Rommel, are looking for a nickname for him. "Rommel the Desert Worm..."
4:11 Yeah, that's not exactly historically accurate. Max is playing a quite colourful, ill-tempered personality, Klaus Kinski in the role of the King of Spain there. If you want to get an idea of how the real Klaus Kinski was just search his name on TH-cam and you'll find a whole flood of clear anger management issues on his part...
First of all thanks to the one who did the translation. It would have been a mess with auto-generated CC. Second, Sketch History was a great series and this is one of the really good sketches, but I think the main joke - Max Giermann doing his (same) Klaus Kinski parody, saying what he always says, but now in Spanish - went over Merts head. Not sure if Mert knows the real Klaus Kinski, maybe one could translate his famous freak out with one of the film crew members ( th-cam.com/video/-n2kcLAYQBs/w-d-xo.html ); then let Mert react to the sketch paroding this ( th-cam.com/video/5CSeDNce2cI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=H0bkdtclsNIpKapH&t=13 )
The best parody in my opinion is the one in the jungle on a film set.(Original: th-cam.com/video/abwzNln4rMQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=q_O1aFY71BTOJ-zv) (parody with Giermann: th-cam.com/video/5CSeDNce2cI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jIKpUTE1uecjvB9z) This is basically the first parody. Giermann then parodied all kinds of characters in the Kinski style. There is also one as Caesar, for example.
To understand Gierman's Kinsky reference, you should watch the iconic scene this is based on: th-cam.com/video/MPKODzv1PD4/w-d-xo.html It's during the production of the movie "Fitzcarraldo" in Peru, when Kinsky (once again) completely lost his sh*t about trivial things. Sketch history even parodied this scene itself (unfortunately without subtitles).
There are much more interesting and very funny scetches from scetch history. All the actors there are great. This one wasnt in my opinion one of the best.
I really like this video of Sketch History: th-cam.com/video/weh-V20w8U0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PSYC5Xu_c-VGlDXe The witch is acted by Carolin Kebekus, a well known German comedienne. The Disney version of the burning of witches. Hilarious

Mein geliebter Feind from Roman Herzog in the very good documentary about Klaus Kinski
@@Argonas-1970 Werner Herzog. Roman Herzog was the former Federal President (Bundespräsident).
"Der Papst im Drogenkloster" was so far the best sketch, 10 minutes of pure comedy
Yes. 😅 And the witch burning musical...🤣
Yes I love that one :)
What's about Ente Auge Zickzack and blind in die Schlacht am Little Bighorn?
🤗👍✌
Agree! 🤣
