    What a great video! I've never seen anyone else tie in synchronous and asynchronous generators like this within the context of power systems the way you've done here. You've definitely earnt a sub.

      Stay in touch. After holidays I've got a bunch of pneumatic material I'll be publishing and then I'll pick up where I left off with synchronous motors and generators.

      There's probably a huge range depending upon manufacturer and age. You'd have to consult the data sheet for particular devices of interest to get any reasonable estimate.

    29:27 *Shouldn't the single phase power be multiplied by √3 ≈ 1.73 ? So that would be ~ 191 W*

      Good question. The sqrt(3) shortcut (ie: the single wattmeter method) works if you measure Line to Line Voltage (V L-L) and Line Current (I LINE). If you have voltage and current for an individual winding of 3 identical windings (ie: power for an individual winding) you simply multiply by 3.     Great explanation, but may I make a suggestion that would help me & others, if you could generate a matrix or chart showing all the variables under different conditions it would help seeing all the possibilities in front of you. i.e. when this goes up, that goes down and this goes sideways!

      Actually that's a good idea. It might be too late for part 1 and 2 but I've yet to produce the full version. I'll see if I can fit it in.

      @@bigbadtech Sounds good, when you lecture verbally it kind of flys over your head! (even w/CC enabled) I'm a visual person, a quick overall view makes one see "the full picture" like the man said: one pic is worth a thousand words! That's why I like driving in Europe, all signs are pics!

    I am here because I got something like 15 or 20 electric motors from the factory I work at, from smaller 3 and 7 horse baldors to huge 50 and 75 horsepower monsters. I have a huge workshop with 3 phase power and a machine shop. What should I do with these. I have something like 20 internal combustion engines among other things. Can I marry some engines I have to these big motors and make a power station? I have about 300 or 400 gallons of used oil and old fuel oil. So say I refine some oil to run a few diesel engines for free could they drive a couple 50 horse motors and give myself free power and heat? I could scrap these for a grand or more but I don't want a 1000 bucks. I want to build something. I also have piles of hydraulics, pumps and Allen Bradley plc control stuff along with many drives units out of cnc machines. I scored a bunch of back room clean out junk most of which I don't even know what it is. There are some transformers in there too. I really would love to run a hit and miss engine off natural gas or bio gas and just listen to it pop and bang all day long as it makes power or pumps water. Looks like I am going to be busy on your channel. Wish I wasn't so far away from you. I'd take your class or try and hang out. All this on top of a 200ah lifpo4 project. And some solar dabbles. I'm a toolmaker by trade and just can't let 10,000 pounds of electric motors with "good" tags on them go off to the recycler
